Chapter 2.3: Mirrors, Spice and Everything Nice [01/30/1925]

Vincent and Tommy were the first to return to the hotel, and after their late night the previous day, decided to get some rest in preparation for the possibility of another one. As asked, Dr. Elias, Rosalie, and Millicent returned, Avery rang the pair to inform them of such.

They all gathered in Leo's room, and noted that Stanley and Walter still seemed to be out on the town.

Chapter 2.3: Mirrors, Spice and Everything Nice [01/30/1925]

Tommy slept fitfully, his mind tense after the adventures of the night before. Still, the sparse hours of quiet seemed to calm him and when at last Avery polity disturbed his rest the reporter drowsily forced himself to rise.

He lingered for a moment by the hotel window peering out to the city street below. It wasn't that he was looking for anything in particular, only that he could not shake a feeling that somehow he was marked. Suppressing the idea he pocketed his notebook and made his way down the short corridor toward Leo's room.

He smiled as Avery opened the door.
"Afternoon buddy. No sign of Stanley or Bo yet then?".
Tommy entered and nodded to whoever waited within.
"So what have you been up to? Find anything useful?".

Leo nodded at the question. "We think so, yes. Between Rosie's knowledge and the information she was able to find at the British Museum, we seem to have found out what it is we've discovered."

Leo looked over to his niece to provide more information.

Having imbibed most of an urn of coffee, Moretti felt clear enough to focus on whatever might be discussed in Leo's room, though the absence of sleep wore on him, a subtle ache playing at the base of his neck and temples. He'd washed his face twice before leaving his room, hoping that the effort would conceal the dark circles that had begun to form beneath his eyes.

Entering behind Cotton, he found an empty section of wall to lean against. Crossing his arms, he listened closely to the discussion.

Seated on the edge of the bed, she nodded to Tommy.  "I found quite a bit about the mirror that Millicent saw, including several texts referencing it as an ancient artifact of great power.  Some believed that it could be used to view or even harm ones enemies.  If this mirror is, indeed, the same one I read about, then it is very old and very valuable."

"How did you fare on your outing, Thomas?"
