Re: Stuff 'n' Things

I think we're in agreement that Perrato will get the ring. As for the cure scrolls, that will come from party treasure, whatever it costs will be paid for by the rest of the party. I don't think Perrato should have to pay anything since he's loosing XP by doing it.

Re: T-3 Days and Counting

Some Logistical Questions:

Tom - what is your address?  How many additional chairs are needed?  If more chairs are needed I can provide them but will need Bret to help pick them up.

Kev - what time are we starting on Friday?  I've heard early afternoon - but how about an exact time?

Brian Hann - we have not seen your updated character sheet -

Jason, Brian Rich, and I will drive out together Friday.

No one has responded to Tom's request for snacks.  I will bring some of Rebecca's famous salsa and chips and some of BleedingLight's special Cheese Dip.

I'll bring some fresh Minnesota walleye with me on the plane..

Or - I can pick up some veggies & whatnot when we're closer to Tom's house.  Either way.

Cheers,

The address is:

1016 Iowa St.
Lawrence, KS 66044

I have three director's chairs, customized by the claws of Papa the Cat. So, at least four more will be necessary, if my aritmetic is right.

Sounds groovy. I'm gonna invest in some sort of grill tomorrow. So, those grillmasters among you, feel free to bring whatever sort of barbecue goodies you have on hand.

Re: T-3 Days and Counting

I have been craving Copperhead Pale Ale since the last Holtcon and would gladly stop by Free State to pick up a few growlers.

Foodwise, I'll have to buy locally as the drive from minneapolis is long and my snack tolerace is low-- I would likely arrive with empty wrappers and gas.

What's in the budget?

I can scribe spells at will, pretty much, except where money is concerned. I had the idea to scribe six scrolls of Cure Light Wounds and six scrolls of Cure Moderate Wounds. The financial cost for that would be 2700 GP. The experience cost is a negligible 108 XP. Is this affordable for the party, and should I perhaps go for more?

Uh oh

It looks like the fates are conspiring to prevent my attending. My mom's been sick lately, and in the hospital up until last week. This caused my aunt to make an impromptu visit from Spain and, long story short, I will most likely be needed on Saturday and unavailable for p&p :(

I'm cool with this but I'm not sure about doing more. I'd need to re-work my spending if we exceed the 400gp per player cost.

If everyone's in consensus then, we'll go with the 12 healing scrolls as previously described.

Post HoltCon Wishes and actions

Well, I've spoken to most of you about possible wishes, but I thought we could all share here. At the moment I'm leaning towards wishing for the vision of an elf instead of a +1 to Dex or Gloves of Dexterity.

Scott, I've sent Brian a PM about the weekend and the changes to his character sheet, could you contact him and confirm that he plans on rejoining the RPOL campaign

WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE:

I would like to go ahead and investigate the lower citadel as long as we are here. I don't like the idea of leaving treasure on the table and we'll never make it back here. (Also, I'm 1519 xps from 8th level)

I had a great time, thanks to Kevin for DMing and Tom for hosting and the Rich's for travelling. Screw you Scott, you didn't do a damn thing.

Re: Post HoltCon Wishes and actions

Hey - it was great to see all of you last weekend. We had a blast!

Regarding next steps and wishes, here's my thoughts:

Next Steps

-  Check out the Citadel - and then accompany our New Bronze Dragon Friend to the Tombs [of undead] he mentioned at the end of the adventure

OR

-  Travel East to Rimsedge with the Bard

Wishes

Kevin had mentioned a 36,000gp limit on magic items...  Wondering if that's still the case(?)

Personally, I'm considering a request for an ...alternate form of animal companion should I take my next lvl in the Ranger class..

Jas

Re: Post HoltCon Wishes and actions

I believe he's backtracked a bit on the GP value to 25k, the same as a non-magic wish.

What alternate form of Animal Companion are you looking for?

My understanding of the tombs was that he would provide a map. If we have to follow him there, would he actually wait around for us to be trained?

Re: Post HoltCon Wishes and actions

Tot is opting to finish crawling the dwarven mines and citadel

Plan to meet the Bergstrom and his posse back at Rimsedge for training - I rather finish exploring w/o him - that means more spoils for us - lets see if he will provide us with some maps and detail of the mines and citadel before we part.

I think Kevin is only allowing a single item of up to 25K not multiple items that total 25K.  Please let me know which is correct.

I also think we should settle in on our wish before we move forward with the crawl.

So what is each team member considering for their respective wish??

Re: Post HoltCon Wishes and actions

Scott is correct that you couldn't wish for multiple magic items although something like boots of elvenkind and cloak of elvenkind might be workable.

Re: Post HoltCon Wishes and actions

I, too, am for checking out the rest of the citadel. Hopefully, we've already faced the most powerful denizens in it. Will Aurelioris stick around while we go dungeon spelunking though?

I have some ideas of my own for the wish which I'm weighing against Bret's recommendations. I may just hold off until I see how the party's leveling begins to shape up before I make any solid decisions.

Thanks all for coming to HoltCon '07, and thanks Kev for doing your usual bang-up job! It was the best time gaming I've had in awhile.

Re: Post HoltCon Wishes and actions

Thanks, all.  I learned quite a bit about how I might run the next table-top scenario--not the least of which will involve me taking a full day to travel and recuperate prior to sitting down at the table.  And making sure I'm not working on six different grant proposals the week of our scheduled event.

*Sigh*

Bret and Scott are correct:  a single magic item worth no more than 25,000 gp is the limit (based on the spell description).

Bret's also correct about Aeruginosis, the brass dragon.  He will provide a map of some ancient desert tombs, if you're interested.  He has become a bit of a player in the recent politics of sorcerers, wizards, and heroes.  He won't stick around while you adventure, though, Tom.

Things are hot in Rimsedge right now.  It is not a safe place to be, but could represent a lucrative adventure.  Bergstrom has indicated that there are rewards for you there, but the exact nature of these is unknown at this point--although they involve training to the next level(s) and some unspecified amounts of magic.

Bergstrom won't be providing you with anything else in this dwarven dungeon--you're on your own from here on out.

Re: Post HoltCon Wishes and actions

On that note - thanks for taking the time to put the game together Kevin!  We realize it was an endurance event for you given the travel & work schedule..

To all - here's a few things Gilrak is considering for his wish (pending DM review & approval ofcourse...)

1)  Select an alternate/enhanced creature for his 4th lvl Animal Companion (should he go w/Ranger this level).  Examples include a Moon Dog -- or perhaps a Succubus... -  I promise I would share her with the rest of the party, though.  No need to be greedy...

2)  One Magic Item (list I'm looking at includes:  Celestial Armor, Holy or Axiomatic Urgrosh, +5 cloak of resistance, etc)

3)  Permanent Haste spell cast on him

4)  XP (not sure what Kevin would set as a max XP award for this..)

5)  Gold (same note as above)

Re: Post HoltCon Wishes and actions

You could wish for 25k in gold, you couldn't wish for XP or a permanent Haste spell, though you could wish for a +1 Urgrosh of Speed, or Boots of Speed, or Mithral Breastplate of Speed (I just made this up but it should be possible and it would be considered light armor with a +5 Max Dex and a -1 ACP).

Tom, you have to make the wish before we continue our adventure, you can't wait until we level up.

It may be the blood lust of battle still ringing in Ashers ears, but the only wish he has is to do more damage. To that end, he will probably be wishing for a monks belt.

Tom,

Thank you so much for the hospitality I had a blast gaming with you again.

Brett,

Thanks for the help with Ashers stats, and the counsel regarding the prcs. You are right as usual

Scott,

Thanks for the hospitality and humor as always.

Kev,

special thanks for all your effort to make it a gaming weekend to remember and for your willingness to keep it going.

I am in agreement that I would not mind gaining a bit more xp before we move on to training (Asher needs almost 3k to hit 8th level). So let's check out the rest of the citadel before moving on to town and training. After that, I like the idea of following the Dragons map south (or heading to Rimsedge).

I do have one request; Let's not go back to Bordertown. How about we push east to Duxchey (sp?) for our training? What do you guys think?

Re: Post HoltCon Wishes and actions

We basically have to go to Rimsedge for training...its free there. Once trained there will be opportunities there or we can try the Dragon's map. We do need to return to Bordertown very briefly before we head to Rimsedge to tie up a few loose ends. We need to deliver the spice and cash whatever Writs we can. Caylin needs to send money home. We can also report that we have "driven" off the mercenary band that had holed up under the citadel and was raiding the caravans and maybe garner a bit more loot. (I find the Fistful of Dollars strategy very appealing)
