Re: OOC

How's everybody's game going, has anyone died yet?...LOL! In my opinion if Seeker has killed you in the first week of gaming, he did what I would call an UBBER JIMMY JACK! Some in this game are very aware of this term and has felt its POWER...LOL! Let the gaming, be it by death or life begin!!!!!!!!!!

Curious. Simply from a character gen perspective, did you take the wife as a hinderance or advantage? :)

Re: OOC

Well, I would say if your wife is willing to let you drill her for 5 hours then its probably an advantage.

One of your forefathers: General Edmond Kirby Smith of the Confederate Army, who lead an army out of Texas and other states? Great leader and military man!

Yup, same family. The name re-surfaced 3-4 generations after that particular General Smith.

I almost picked EKS to do a war strategy essay on when I was in ROTC at Oregon State University. He was even  West Point Man, gotta love that!

Re: OOC

In reply to Max Jackson (msg #94):

I actually didn't know anything about him when I came up with this concept. I was looking for famous southerners with military tradition and that lead me to Smith. I picked him because he was less known (at least to me!) allowing me to make some stuff up. I think it's interesting that when the Mississippi River was cut off he basically ran his own independent county - and promoted a bunch people to General ranks with or without consulting President Davis. Also, last living Civil War general. Interesting.

So yeah. My character, Kirby, is his grand-x-whatever nephew.

Re: OOC

In reply to Max Jackson (msg #99):

Game is going good. Still in the early early stages but good so far. Can't wait to start interacting with the rest of the PCs, and still trying to figure out how to write my character's mixed accent. That last bit will probably evolve all game. Any tips for writing accents from: 12years of British-Caribbean English with 20 years of the US South tossed on top? Oh, with a little dash of creole tossed in for good measure?

Re: OOC

In reply to Edmund Kirby Smith IV (msg #100):

You can't write that kind of accent. Hell, you can't speak that kind of accent! However, if I took my best guess, I'd be thinking of Michael Cain trying to do a New Orleans accent...and I think you've got it. But which is the dominant? US or Brit? I find that your birth accent is always heaviest, with inflections from any major influence. Then again, there's Princess Mary...
