Getting Stoned
Mild interest check on a concept that's been bouncing around in the old brainpan for a bit. A light fantasy game in a hyper-primitive Stone Age setting, where the atlatl is cutting edge technology, and the bow is still on the drawing board.
Players would essentially be more humanlike progenitors of they typical fantasy races, called Clans instead of races. For example, instead of dwarves, you have the Stonebreaker Clan. They're a fair bit shorter than everyone else, heavier built and have thicker facial hair, but they're basically humans.
A more extreme example would be Orcs. They're essentially taller, more muscular humans with darker, slightly greenish skin and bigger teeth.
While everyone would have roughly the same low level of tech, each clan would get one bonus. Maybe "elves" have figured out simple herbology, "dwarves" have discovered how to make fire instead of having to wait for a forest fire then scavenging a hot ember and keep it going. Something very minor by today's standards, but significant in a primordial world.
The idea still needs a lot of polishing, but it could be fun with some work. The plot could be simple in the beginning, i have a few ideas in mind already, and it could evolve as the story continues.
Any thoughts?
