Which 5e Adventure to Run

Hi all!

I am thinking of starting a 5e game, around level 5 or 6 and using Gestalt rules. I am wanting this to be a game about the characters and roleplaying (will be Adult) than lots of combat that slows down online, with my choice of Gestalt is to enable a capable party with only 3 or 4 PCs.

My initial thoughts were to run Storm King's Thunder, but now I am pondering Curse of Strahd. I also thought about some other adventures, either scaled up or starting mid-way through, and after my indecision I thought I was ask what people wanted to play.

Options:
  • Curse of Strahd
  • Princes of the Apocalypse
  • Tomb of Annihilation)
  • Storm King's Thunder
  • Waterdeep: Dragon Heist

I would be interested in playing a gestalt game.  Which rules would you be using?

And as for adventure, my vote would be for either Strahd or Waterdeep, though I wouldn't turn down any of them.

Ravenloft is one of the few D & D settings I’ve never played. I’d persvofe for Curse of Strahd.

I had come up with my own but then also looked around rpol for other 5e gestalt and they're all mostly the same, based off the multiclass rules. Your username was familiar so I just checked my searches again the one you use in your game is the closest to what I'd be using :)

Re: Which 5e Adventure to Run

There are a number of good Gestalt rules, I tend to think the ones that let you take additional subclasses are the better ones, they give you more versatility without being to complex or pushing the power scale to far.

There is a particularly good one that also gives feats at a faster rate so you can build your character out in more unique directions.

Re: Which 5e Adventure to Run

I think I would be interested in participating, I love the possibilities that Gestalt offers. I think a variation of the multiclass rules in here is a good way to go about it.

Re: Which 5e Adventure to Run

If you mean the variant that bases it off the second edition multiclassing, I think gestalt is cleaner and easier to manage.

While only two people have thrown in a vote, Curse of Strahd is looking like a winner and I'll build something up for that hopefully today :)

Re: Which 5e Adventure to Run

I'd like to play, but I don't really have a preference of adventures. :)

Re: Which 5e Adventure to Run

I agree, I was just thinking of it as a model of what you could base it off of. I did like the concept of the dual and tri classing variants, there is a lot of flavor there.

I have never played curse of strahd, but I know a little of the setting, very Castlevania like, which I love.

Re: Which 5e Adventure to Run

No problem not knowing the setting, as your characters won't! And yes, rather like Castlevania with both inspired by the same source material of gothic horror and stories like the original Dracula.
