Dreamscape game

I keep having a seed for a game bouncing around my head, inspired by the Emphemera series by Anne Bishop.

In the series, the world has become shattered into pieces that are kept together by Landscapers who have the power to tend to their own parcels of land. Some light, some dark and all react to the will of the landscaper to varying degrees. It’s a really cool setting for novels, but I’ve been looking for an RPG that has shades of the idea with zero luck.

Does anyone know of any Dreamer/ Dreamscape type games, as I think they might be a close fit to the idea of the books.

In reply to Cassieledm (msg # 1):

There are a few, and in addition Call of Cthulhu has some dreamland stuff.

I made a suggestion to look at the book of hod.

I gave a link to it, but was 'moderated'. While I can advertise the book, I can't advertise where you can get the book from (personally I don't care where you get it, I just added the link as a courtesy). I mention this because the person before me did the same so I copied what he did. He was moderated too, so I suspect many people don't know it.

I have used the book for a mini campaign set in dream world. Maybe six months of real world time. They are 'OK' which is high praise because I've read quite a few.

The core witchcraft system actually works. I like the way armor and damage is modeled, and the combats feel exciting. There are holes in it (any game with magic in it has a tendency to become a superhero genre: D20 for example) but they can either be ignored or plugged.

Shattered Dreams is exactly what you're talking about. The game is entirely based around that concept.

The bad news? Pretty sure the company is long out of business, the book decades out of print, and its popularity low enough that you likely can't get ahold of it.

I have a copy and all the supplements, but I'm the only person I've ever known to own it.

Torg could be tweaked to fit what you're talking about.  Don't ask me how though, I've never too terribly into Torg.

Likewise if you're up to it, FATE or Amber Diceless/Lords Of Gossamer And ShadowFATE Core is more of a toolbox, the system is genre agnostic (it's geared toward Narrative style play, rather than tactical/simulation) so you can literally do what you want with it.

Amber has a setting implied not only in the setting, but the rules.  Whereas Lord Of Gossamer and Shadow, despite having a setting, is much easier to adapt the powers to fit a different genre/setting.  They're the same rulesets, they just have different settings.

You might also look into Godbound.  It's not really what you're talking about, but you might be inspired to mod it to fit.

Re: Dreamscape game

Don't Rest Your Head is a game of insomnia and madness (and being awoken to the Reality that others cannot see), but it could be turned around to be sleep, dream powers, and losing oneself to the unreality of unconscious.

It's available on [RPG PDF Sales Site] for like 4$.

It also looks like there's a few collections on [Auction Place] up for auction starting ridiculously low for mint and near mint collections of these books.

Moderated, so I reposted sans the offending website names.  Just do a google search, you'll find 'em.
