Exalted 2.5 e Game

Hello all,

I am considering running an Exalted 2.5 edition game because it was a super fun system which had such a great fan following. I have never run a game on rpol so I would like to know what are some things I should be looking out for to create a smooth experience from RTJ to first posts.

Also I am interested in house rules which can make Exalted 2.5 easier to run on RPOL.

Looking forward to your words!

P.S.
Thinking of the Gunstar Exalted idea from Shards to allow high essence warstrider craziness.

Having a ruling for Stunts and handling the 10 steps of combat. Those things can slow things down, along with initiative. This system does not like block initiative.

I've played just about every Exalt type there is..... except Infernal... no one ever seems to want to ST an Infernal game or allow them as PC's at all. Of course, the last time I actually played Exalted was many, many years ago.

My suggestion would be don't run 2.5e, run 3e, it's a far better system.

In reply to PCO.Spvnky (msg # 4):

Ditto...only the exact opposite. Stick with 2.5, that's what you wanted to GM. That's what you mentioned. Stick with 2.5 before Oynx messed with it, and before they introduced very dubious keywords. Keywords that were indisputably horrible when they were only in the fluff, made the worst (-100/10) by putting them into the crunch. If you ever get curious about 3e, just read the core book. That was enough inform me I never want to "upgrade". 3e is like another 3e of a popular system. It is an event horizon.

I'd give some suggestions, but in I'm new to doing this on RPoL too.

If you're still considering this, colour me interested. It's been a long time since I've played Exalted but I have very fond memories.

I am curious, but have never played in an Exalted campaign. I have a love hate relationship with it in that I love the lore, but the wire fu and stunt system only seemed to really benefit agile characters.
Basically if it is going to run interested, and I have some concepts I can dust off, with no preference for system from me.

That's not true. you can use strength and endurance to stunt as well. You can stunt in social combat as well, really any dice roll you can stunt.

In reply to dlantoub (msg # 7):

wow...well..I guess you and I differ. I stunt even diceless actions, and even get stunts awarded AFTER I roll WITHOUT extra dice. The mote replenish is very nice, as is WP. Our group has never used XP as a reward, but if your's does that adds up too.

Stunts also make little difference with excellencies. I've also rarely described something purely to gain stunt. I also play 99.99% in person (until the last three months) but it works very nicely online. Stunts are what I LOVE about exalted. Especially in 2.5, where so many charms freshly enhance them.

Ok take this as a long term RPoL gm of exalted 2.5 talking. Make sure you know what and where you want to go. Be open to going off track. Keep it fun for all involved this means you. If you aren't having fun then the game will die.

If you don't have all the nuance of a splat don't use it. That includes home brew.

Gunstar is pretty awesome, but it makes even regular Exalted look pretty tame in comparison.
