Ezri:
Count me interested. I've been itching for a Saints Row game for years now. I prefer the not quite as crazy tone of 2 over 3, but happy to have 4 be declared non-canon.
Is primary inspiration from 3 a deal breaker for you?

You mention going to a new city to find the Boss, but what sorts of things are the PCs going to be doing?
Which specific side missions are available is up for discussion. I do want to have... someone--I haven't decided yet who--orchestrate having you guys get Jumped In, or as the Saints call it in SR 1, Canonized. Leaning toward Oleg. I'm happy to let some side missions be somewhat determined by the player.

Would there be much/any gaining/defending territory? That's rather my favourite part of the Saints Row series even if there isn't much defending in game.
Gaining territory is a must. The group will be going to the completely new town, which I'm tentatively calling San Angelos, inspired by LA obviously. I will probably have people call in about territories that are being attacked at random, but it'll be more like Saints Row 3 where ignoring the call or failing to get there in time won't result in the loss of the territory.
Further thoughts on the premise led me to formulate the idea that the reason Boss and Crew went to San Angelos in the first place, is so they could prospect for better production value on their various media pursuits--both the ones mentioned above, and potentially Nyte Blade. There might be some unique missions involving filming that are similar to Fuzz missions or kind of the opposite of Escort missions, where you drive around doing cool... things, but not getting too far away from your camera crew who films it for B-roll or stunts, so you're actually TRYING to get footage.
Given how I have Complex Actions written into the system, they would work perfectly for simulating the series' Snatch, Trafficking, and Escort missions, but Tiger Escorts are too far fetched. Trailblazing is also probably a bit far fetched, but Cyberblazing seems like it could be adapted to work, even though it wouldn't translate directly (The number of checkpoints being different than the number of legs a standard Complex Action can take). Will do or have as options to do most of the other activities. On the fence about Super Ethical Reality Climax, Insurance Fraud, Septic Avenger, and Crowd Control--if I do any of them, they probably won't be for territory gains.
Streaking probably won't be a diversion in the game, but I might give a nod to it with random passersby taking enough interest in a character to give them a little dosh. Sexual Healing is literally written into the system, so the Ho-ing diversion could be a valid way to pass time, and a good excuse to as noted, not fade to black. Probably won't do any collectibles missions, or go into great detail about areas that need a Saints Row tag unless players
specifically make focusing on those important to their characters.
