OakMaster:
I've played GURPS before, but am much more of a roleplayer than a rollplayer. Are you happy dealing with most of the mechanics behind the screen, or are rules-challenged players a poor fit for your game?
I have only ran GURPS a few times myself. I think the only crunchy bits to really keep in mind is that GURPS combat (I'll be using the Basic, not Tactical, system) can get you killed pretty quick in a fight if you make very poor tactical decisions, but since we will not be using the Tactical Shooting or Martial Arts supplements most of what we'll be dealing with is very core GURPS - rolling 3d6 against a skill, and maybe a couple more dice for an effect. GURPS Psi works this way, each ability has an associated skill. As far as GURPS goes this will be fairly tame.

Are you happy with folks who are only available for asynchronous RPoL posts
That should be fine - the unreliability of my own internet is one reason I am here. The Discord would also be open for asynchronus chat and questions.
