NPC resources for 5e
I’m looking for  a tool to create NPC adventurers to throw against the PCs in a 5e game I’m looking to run. Is there a tool anywhere that can create generic adventurers  that I can scale to meet criteria, such as race, class and level?

So, if I need to create a 4th level dragonborn fighter I simply add the criteria and one pops up, I then just need to edit for equipment etc.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you tried creating a free account at DnDBeyond.com? I think it would work great for NPCs. But be warned, that you'll need to buy things if you really want to make a PC with all of the fixings.

For super generic characters you can use something like https://fastcharacter.com/ but the free stuff never has many options.

Would something like Donjon be helpful? It can be used to generate various different types of random content for DnD 4th/5th Edition and some other stuff...here is the link for Fifth Edition NPCs...  https://donjon.bin.sh/5e/random/#type=npc
