IC: Against the Darkmaster with a newbie GM?

Hello fellow members of RPoL. I am making this topic to gauge interest in running a game of Against the Darkmaster: a system game that pits a fellowship of adventurers against the dark designs a grand villain. It is a new system for me, and so this outing would be a learning experience for me, to warn at the outset. I am not familiar with the systems that this system draws inspiration from, either, but I have in the past played and run some system games although they were generally d20 based and the percentile system of Against the Darkmaster is something of a departure from that. My aim would be a posting rate of twice weekly on my part, and perhaps faster if I can manage in combat.

The main questions I have is, first, just if there is interest out there for this system and game with it, and how much world building that prospective players might want. That is - vague like the assumed setting of the corebook, or maybe something like a few paragraphs describing the major political units.

Thanks for your time and I look forward to your feedback.

I would definitely throw my hat in the ring as a player! Its a great game and a brutal yet satisfying system, and its made for telling great, epic tales of light vs darkness and anything in between. I'm playing in a game here right now and it is a ton of fun, very immersive and satisfying.

The game is quite front loaded but smooth in actual play; it will take some getting used to though, the first combat will involve a lot of page flipping but once you get used to it (and learn how to quickly access the tables in your book/pdf) it will start flowing much faster. Combat is brutal and deadly though, so PCs must be ready to accept character death before committing.

I am fine with either a detailed world or something vague that we build as we play. You also don't have to run an epic story of good vs evil if you don't want that level of commitment yet; the game can play fine with smaller scale adventures, and in fact the official adventures that have been published have been smaller scale affairs. There doesn't even have to be an actual Darkmaster if the GM doesn't want, or if there is one it can be in the very background, irrelevant to the story/adventure.
