Police show with a twist

A while back I was discussing with a GM about an X-Men rp, were talking about fictional shows that might exist in that universe. I suggested the name of a show might be Law & Order: MVU. The premise was cops that focus solely on crimes committed by mutants.

I didn't get beyond that because in the timeline of the show mutants hadn't be publically known for that long.

If this were to happen it doesn't have to be set in the Marvel universe. It could be DC with the M being metahumans. Doesn't have to be MVU it could be something similar. Also doesn't have to Law & Order based either.

Mutant City Blues might be similar but I won't be using it or any other system.

While the system itself is dated, the concept was covered fairly well in Bureau 13, so it may be worth a look for inspiration.

I know the Bureau 13 books, but there's a game system for it? Or are you talking about "Trip the Light Fantastic"?

Yes, there is: Bureau 13  Stalking the Night Fantastic, which has had various iterations since the original version back in the 80s. At least some of them are available on DriveThru.

Hi. I remember Bureau 13 game system was put out by a company called Tri-Tac. Hope that helps some?. We played a few times until we found out our driver of our super charged motor home didn't have any driving skills. :)

I am going to repeat this one last time: I won't be using any systems. Do not bring up any systems.

HQ: To reiterate, they're being brought up in the context of theme/setting material related to your idea, not the rules themselves. If that's going to cause a blown gasket then I think that we can all safely move on from this thread.

Police show with a twist

I'm picturing it as like a Law & Order show in that it won't be super-actiony. Like, odds are you'd see, say, their show's version of Wolverine (played by Jerry Orbach) standing around a crime scene with their version of Angel (let's see... James Marsters).

"Wolverine" is standing around a crime scene with a paper cup of coffee, quipping sarcastically about stuff the CSI guys didn't notice without his sense of smell (getting a shot in at CSI, which is more of a Reed Richards kinda show anyway). Then, a suspect bolts for it, we get some shouting, "Angel" unfurls his wings but we don't actually see much of a chase, we just cut to him (wings out), cuffing a suspect in the park.

(The park, btw, is in the safest part of town, just made up to look like a "scary NYC neighborhood". If there's a mutantville like Marvel had for a while, it's blatantly done up like that.)

We then do the "Glung-glung" noise, and now we're in court. That sort of thing. (The DA would be Beast, because... C'mon, his name's McCoy, too. It's a gimme. ;) )
