IC: D&D5E Spelljammer...
The Little Prince as told by Miyazaki. Flash Gordon by way of Guillermo del Toro. Tiny planets ruled by backyard despots, intelligent stars burning like capricious gods, ships made from leather gasbags or metal rockets or wooden hulls or dragonfly wings, all sailing the skies together. Goggled freedom fighters, bumbling alchemists, winged clerics; spherical lakes filled with copper fish. Lost kingdoms and zero-g castles and trash gyres swirling with the wreckage of a thousand cities, a million forgotten empires...

Welcome to Spelljammer, a full-on gonzo and goofy D&D in space setting of the utterly bizarre and fantastic. D&D Age of Sail and the Golden Age of Piracy...in space. Space fantasy. Space as sea. Black powder cannons and pistols. Ship-to-ship battles. Boarding actions. Pirates of the Astral Sea. Giant space hamsters. Flumph pirates. Beholder bartenders. We’re going to embrace it. All of it.
The game is meant to be a fun and lighthearted action-adventure romp. It’s not a comedy and I want players to take is seriously enough to actually show up and play, but this game isn’t live-or-die serious business. We’re here to cut loose and have fun letting our imaginations fly.
This will be a player/character-driven game. I will populate the setting with situations, factions, creatures, locations, and NPCs. The players will decide how, or if, they engage with that content. I will run an open table. Players are free to come and go as they need to. We’ll focus on including everyone over the faux-realism of making players wait to join the action.
For me, the point of Spelljammer is to explore the unique elements of the setting itself, not use it as merely a means of conveyance between other established settings. So, while visiting other campaign worlds is certainly possible, the focus will be on exploring what makes the setting unique and fun in itself.
