She-Ra/He-Man Crossover

So, I've finally gotten around to seeing both of the series on Netflix.   A portion of my brain is wondering how well a crossover game might work.

Anyone want to chime in?  I'm curious.

She-Ra/He-Man Crossover

With the original series, She-Ra was a spinoff of He-Man. Etheria and Eternia were in the same universe and could cross over without much trouble - just a spaceship.

She-Ra/He-Man Crossover

uhm yeah... even Skeletor gave a classic 'Wut?' when he heard He-Man he had been fighting for years secretly had a sister captured as a baby that became She-Ra.

You do know Adam and Adora are brother and sister right?

From a mom that is an Earth astronaut that crash landed on Eternia to marry Randor who became King.

>Earth< is canon in He-Man/She-Ra.

Neither did Skeletor. hahah

Really...

Well when they decided to add a female empowerment show, She-Ra, from the child male-centric empowerment, He-man, that's when they added an sibling.

That's also what makes Skeletor's "wut" so classic. Like he, and his actor, reacting to the massive ret-con.

I mean...

King Randor and Marlene(?, He-man's mom) had never done anything to find or remember Adora.

Re: She-Ra/He-Man Crossover

It would most definitely make for awkward dinner conversation.

I can't say that I know how well the idea might work as game, though.   I'd say it would depend heavily on the players and their ideas on how it might work.

Re: She-Ra/He-Man Crossover

The two shows mostly had their own villians, own adventures, own allies. the cross overs were typically 1-2 known characters drop in to help with that worlds villain.

the show nominally is a "disaster of the week" show. So you could run the game with episodes. I did that with Starship Troopers where they did missions. Each mission had the current PCs hear a briefing, pick gear, go in, do things, find out things and some form of episode conclusion. There was bits of long reach story arcs with hints of Mystery X villian having had something to do with it or attacking Mystery X's operation Y.

Not sure on what rules to suggest or free form. Each character in the show has very distinct powers and the shows often loose-goose on what character A can do with B this time. So a more free from probably a better fit than a detailed system like d20.

A starting suggestion would be whether you were intending to use one of the their 2 worlds or whether to introduce your own world with its own villian. The characters could be a mix of cross over helper, say Sergeant-at-arms rather than Man-at-arms, to help Local-Joe.

Also a major question is whether to have a sword of power type transformation for one character as that character's player is then very pivotal in the success or failure of the game.

Re: She-Ra/He-Man Crossover

Ironically, the only character in the two Netflix series that would know they're related is Skeletor....go figure.

The though had occurred to drop both Castle Greyskull and Snake Mountain onto Etheria.   Particularly because it makes keeping the Runestone powers of the various Princesses active without needing much hand-waving.

I was thinking that Castle Greyskull would end up somewhere close to Light Hope, which I believe is in the Whispering Woods.   Snake Mountain might end up on Beast Island, which would give Skeletor a more or less secure location (as well as some resources) ; and would make getting to him significantly more difficult than just taking a walk.

You could have the same person playing different characters, perhaps one in each faction/group.   Though I'd suggest having different players in the leadership roles (so the same person isn't both Skeletor and He-Man, for example).  Having the full cast of characters available would allow more flexibility in how the story unfolds, and gives more potential plot points.   Can you imaging Entrapta running around Castle Greyskull?
