I started writing up the fantasy example (scifi rules would be the same, just some fluff and names changed)

You are a member of the City Council of the port city of Fairhaven. It is a city that runs on magic and trade. You will govern along with the other members of the city council. You will engage in covert acts of espionage and deceit. You will forge powerful magical artifacts that will alter the balance of power among the Council.

You also will judge criminals and pass sentences on those you find guilty. You will interact with your constituents, the members of your faction that placed you in this position of power. You will repay that favor ten fold through corruption and graft. You will also pay by voting for official, legal acts that will alter the laws of Fairhaven.

You are a politician first with all the benefits and costs that come with that position.

Interested as well, curious to learn more about the mechanics

 Mechanics would matter.

I have access to a very limited set of rules,  and so if its not one that I have access to, then it would be a no for me. Given all my experiences with free-form  have been negative, then that would also kill my interest.  Just saying, so we are on the up and up.

Since there is questions about mechanics, please read the google doc linked. It has an example of play and the mechanics which are simple dice pools along with an action phase to perform your actions and then a reaction phase to handle events.
