The Honorbound

This game idea comes from an ad in the Wanted - GMs forum. Would anyone be interested in something like this?

The premise
This is a game where chivalric knights and ladies struggle to uphold their romantic ideals and protect the innocent in a picturesque but ultimately unjust and dangerous medieval world. The game is set in a pseudo-historical medieval Europe where the players take on the roles of chivalric knights or other concepts appropriate to the setting.

It is the year 1190 in Languedoc, a southern province of the dissolving Kingdom of the Franks. King Philip II has just styled himself King of France and is busy with the Third Crusade in far away lands. Not much of this reaches the sleepy, rural part of Languedoc where our story starts but there are still castles and estates to manage, conflicts to settle and of course the churches attempts to destroy catharism in the region.

The aim is to keep the game world reasonably realistic without being simulationist but there might also be elements of thriller, mystery and horror when it turns out some myths and superstitions are true.

The system for this game will be OpenQuest, a BRP-clone with its roots in Stormbringer and early Call of Chtulhu. Knowledge of the system is not a requirement, it is a pretty simple d100 roll under thing. There will be some house rules to make the game run a little quicker in the play by post format.

Registering official interest and noting for any interested parties that it's only the Cistercians locally complaining about the heretics: the military orders lean towards Team Cathar since the latter are at least nominally Christians (and often their friends and family) and so come under their protection in terms of core monastic vows. Additionally, the Templars would continue to take fighting nuns for another 23 years, if someone wanted a retired older/honourably injured lady knight without her being treated as a mascot or curiosity.

Great! Three is enough to get started I think, I want to keep this a small group around 4 players or so. I'll get the game started.

I've set up the game. Not all of it is finished but we can get started on characters and details of what kind of game this is going to be. I've written a lot of stuff up but nothing needs to be set in stone so just holler if you want to see something else in the game.

Here's the game: link to another game
