IC: Getting started

Hi everyone!

It's been a while since I have run a game. Due to medical reasons I haven't been playing any online games. I finally have been given a clean bill of health from my doctor and would like to jump back into things. However I am undecided what I wish to run. Here are a few options I had in mind.

1. Superheroes. Six months ago the Earth was struck by a strange energy wave which granted a percentage of the population superpowers. As the world tries to cope with the concept of heroes and villains, there is a larger threat approaching which will decide the fate of all mankind.

2. Swashbucklers of the Seven Skies. In the last age, the world was shattered leaving behind floating islands in the sky. Now exploring and adventuring in great flying ships, the heroes take up arms for the free people of the world, fighting the corrupt Armada of the Dornado Empire.

3. Frontier Space. The free worlds of Frontier Space are caught between the Third Imperium of man and the Kintari Empire.  It is up to small teams of independent heroes to preserve that freedom and keep the worlds from being embroiled in interstellar war.

4. Classic Fantasy. Set on the border of the kingdom, the heroes town is faced with many dangers. Barbarians from the north, monsters from under the mountain, lost dark magic and dangerous mysteries. There is also fame and fortune for those bold enough to seek it.

5. The Shadow War. There is a war taking place all around us. Good versus evil, light versus darkness. Magic exists, it is just hidden from the common man. However now the veil is growing thin and the war threatens to spill out into the streets of the mortal world.

Do any of these sound interesting? Would you be interested in playing? Would you like to know more?

They all look like fun. If you are looking for votes: 1 and 5 are my personal favourites.

everyone one of those , are good for some...none  are good for everyone? Folks have thier favorite Genres..

my advice, as i always give.. Pick a Game ( or make one) that you like... build it, PCs  will come, some will go, some will stay...The best way to run the game, is run it as you would like it run for you...even if you tweak some 'packaged' system's  rules.

players won't  enjoy themselves, if you aren't enjoying  running it.

Yep, like Donsr said. Interest checks are pointless. You will get players to fill even with the most bizarre and tactless games.

Can you tell me, if any, what systems you'd use for 1 and 5?

In reply to Gamergirl (msg # 1):

All of them look good but #1 gets my top vote and SUPERS! RED is a fun system.

Numbers 1 and 4 look good to me. I've however never played Supers Red so I doubt I'd be able to make a character. Good luck in whatever you decide to do though!

Just returning myself after a necessary hiatus, and I would love to see how SUPERS! RED goes, so I'd vote for 1 :)

Probably way too late now, but I'd vote 2 and 4. Of course, it would depend a lot on the system (what I like is "as simple as possible")

They all look good, and I would absolutely be interested if you were planning on running any of them as freeform. Regardless, if you put the time and effort into any game, you'll find people to play, like Donsr said. So which one stands out the most to you? Or, if you have the time and energy, do them all. There are plenty of GMs who run multiple games simultaneously.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

Oops. But not that simple.
