Interest Check: Everyday Heroes (aka d20 Modern 5e)

I recently picked up Everyday Heroes by Evil Genius Games, which is a wholesale update of d20 Modern to DnD 5e and from what I've read so far it looks like a solid update. My only issue so far which is more based of my first reading without any real experience of it would be that the Smart Hero looks complicated and strange compared to the rest but certain archetypes would suit certain games appropriately.

There doesn't appear to be any games using the system on rpol and the only thread I found was 3 months old so my first question to the site before I actually consider creating and deciding on an Everyday Heroes game is are there any players around? If so what type of game would you like to play?

I got it. I read it... it looks like about half a game, maybe a third of a game.

I'd have to know more about what you mean to provide commentary on this, but it looked to me like they're a mastermind of a variety more narrowly defined by what archetype they pick, and that the game creators saw the most obvious way to do this was "I prepared for that possibility".

I really wanted to be a player at one point, but I really don't like how they do Defense and Armor Saves, or the fact that it's human only, or how the players can only kinda do pseudomagical things. Like I am totally ok with low magic, I just want some of the things to look more like magic than Everyday Heroes did.

Interest Check: Everyday Heroes (aka d20 Modern 5e)

I kickstarted it and some of the Cinematic Adventures, but haven't had time to sit down and really read through it.

That is a fair comment despite being a 460 page book. I do not think it as much of a problem for me as I can fill the gap myself with original d20 Modern and Dungeons and Dragons 5e content.

Going back and rereading this is very much directed at the Mastermind and Engineer archetypes that would not fit most of the kinds of games I would run.

The Armor Saves are an interesting take on the idea of armor and I understand the idea of making armor useful but not something everyone needs to be competitive in combat. The varying ability scores for Defense based on class is a bit weird but given you are stuck in your class it makes a bit of sense. I read they are planning an Urban Arcana style book so hopefully that should help cover that deficiency.

I missed the kickstarter but have had a cursory look and wanted to check interest before delving too far into it only to discover no one wanted to play.

In reply to Ethereal Haunting (msg # 4):

I suspect that it depends on what you're planning to do with it.    An Occult Investigator campaign is going to attract a different player base than a Mercenary for Hire game.   That aside, it's one of the many systems I've never heard of.   So, I'm encouraging you to flesh out what you want to do.
