Salve Legate,

Rome is an interesting setting, but would need more info before I say yay or nay. Freeform? System? What system in that case? Genre/Themes?

Also the area of Rome has been settled for 4,000+ years.

Are you asking if we want to play a game of Imperium Maledictum chasing heretics through the under city of the Roman Hive block on Holy Terra?

I have a home brewed system that should work fine for this era, a combination of basic character attributes complimented by a fairly broad selection skills that can be improved or added to over time.

At this stage I am thinking the game will largely be set in the city itself as this gives players the maximum options for character backgrounds from all over the Republic.

I am considering two time periods, around 500 BC during the end of the first kings and the beginning of the Republic, or later around 270 BC just before the First Punic War.

The basic premise of the type of game I have in mind is the players will begin the game as a group of slaves who will get an opportunity to earn their freedom early in the game and then you can choose career path from there.  Each player will have their own solo threads and there will be communal threads for players who wish to co-operate to achieve their goals.
I am fascinated by the Circus Maximus so I was looking at making that venue a central character of the game where players can get involved in all manner of activities.  The possibilities are almost endless.  I'm working on some chariot racing rules now that could do with testing soon :)

Ya, just make the game. You'll get more exposure that way. You don't have anything to discuss it seems.

Oh dear, played Circus Maximus wayyyy back in the days ... Nasty attrition as you sped around those corners. Few finished even 2 of the 3 laps.

I was thinking Cthulhu Invictus ... I have it somewhere in this house ... So possible interest.
