Game Mechanics

How does the game work? How do dice rolls work? The answer - like this!

Basically, the game works by rolling a number of six sided dice, or d6. Every act you perform has a difficulty number - the default number is 5. Every time you roll the dice, every d6 that scores equal to or more than the difficulty number is a success. So, with a diffculty of 5, every dice that scores a 5 or a 6 is a success. Easy!

So how many dice do you roll? Also easy. You have as many dice to roll as the number of points you have in a skill, plus 1. This means that with a score of zero in a skill, you always get one die to roll. St. Trinians girls are always capable of rising to a challenge!

So, let's say you have a CDT score of 3. You're trying to construct a new rack for torturing third form girls. That's a standard roll. So you would roll 4 d6 at a difficulty of 5. Any dice of 5 or 6 are successes.

And that's the basics :D

Of course, there will be many modifiers depending on circumstances. Running over uneven ground, escaping from very tight bonds, trying to make a thermonuclear device when drunk - all can be problematical, but any modifiers will be judged on an individual basis.

Dice Rolls And Willpower

Willpower can be used to increase your chance of success on a dice roll. You can spend a point of willpower to gain an additional d6 to rll on any one test. However, you can only spend 3 Willpower points on any single roll, gaining you a maximum of 3d6 on any single test.

Re: Game Mechanics

Dropping Dice For Extra Successes

Sometimes, you have difficulty ratings that are higher than 6 - which should normally be impossible to roll on a d6! But you can achieve them by Dropping Dice.

By dropping three dice from your dice pool, you can then add +1 to the numbers rolled on the remaning dice. If you trade in six dice, you can then add +2.

This means that someone with a dice pool of 5, with a bonus dice from their special ability or from a Prefect's special ability in team management, can trade in all those dice to add +2. The player can then spend up to three Willpower points to gain up to 3d6 to roll. This means they then roll 3d6 and add +2 to all those dice, giving them the possibility of scoring 7 or 8 on any of those dice, and achieving things that are normally impossible according to the laws of nature.

These are very expensve rolls however, and spending 3 WP is not something to be done lightly.

Re: Game Mechanics

Botching!

When you make a skill roll, and all your dice roll a 1, you bothced it! The dice hate you, as does reality. At that point, the Headmistress has yu as her bitch, and you can expect to be slapped about for a while as your plan falls into pieces like a fluffy cake left out in a rainstorm. Except with more disastrous consequences for you...
