Concerning Friends, Rivals, and Loathings

Just to clarify how these stats influence you, in case there is any confusion ...

Loathings are niggles. Petty (and often imagined) behavioural traits in your fellows that every now and then make you get that itch under your skin that makes you wish there was some way you could just slap some sense into the culprit. Of course, this is not always possible, or sensible, but we all know people who rub us up the wrong way without realising it. They don't have a huge influence on your day to day relationships, and should only be referred to once in a while.

Best Friends are much more important, and they will dictate who is able to influence your opinions. If your best friend comes up with a plan at the same time as someone else, and there is little to choose between them on grounds of merit, personalities come into play. You'll want to side with a Best Friend before someone else. You'll also want to watch their backs in a tight corner. Whether or not they appreciate all the attention is another matter!

Then there are the Rivals. A Rival may not realise that they are your Rival, but you do. Most of the time, you have to get along because you're all in this together. If you start arguing and shoving your Rival every time they open their mouth, it will soon end up in the whole mission flying apart. But you'll probably not trust their judgement, or take the chance to settle scores if you can.

On the other hand, if a Rival does something nice for you (or you for them) it has a much higher impact on you than if someone less repellent helps you. If a Rival tries to restore your Willpower, it will likely have a ore potent effect than a friend helping you out.
