Skills List

The skill names are in bold text. Text in italics gives examples of what you can do with the skill, but the list is not exhaustive. If you want to have a go at something not listed, just run it past the GM :D

Art
Painting, Sculpting, Forgery
While you are good at painting or sculpting your own work, you can make a lot more money copying the work of other arists. At St. Trinians, many girls become adept at making very accurate copies of the works of others. Entirely for the purpose of education, obviously ...

Biology
Animals, Plants, First Aid, Medicine
St. Trinians girls rarely respect boundaries, and this applies to the laws of God and nature as much as anything else. The study of biology allows a girl to see how the natural world works, allowing her to heal injuries, counteract poisons, create gardens filled with lovely flowers ... or a garden filled with monstrous flesh eating plants. And let's not forget the art of stitching together corpses so that they can be reanimated as unspeakable shambling horrors. Such an inventive science project!

Chemistry
Acids, Chemicals, Explosives, Drug Synthesis
Playing with a chemistry set is such fun! But while many kids get to test things with litmus paper, the pupils at St. Trinians adopt a more creative approach, preferring to synthesise high explosives, and on occasion, hard drugs. Given the risks involved with using dangerous chemicals, and their effects, some applications of this skill may require the player to make a Fear test.

Computer Science
Hacking, Web Searching, Viruses
With this skill, you know your way around a computer well. You can use them to find information, how to study with them, and better yet, how to hack int what other people are studying. If it works with computers, you know how to make it do what you want it to do.

Craft, Design & Technology (CDT)
Construction, Driving, Machine Work, Metalwork, Carpentry, Mechanics
With the skills you learned in the workshop, you can build and operate almost anything. Whether you are adding armour to a car, or driving it to destruction, this skill covers machines and engines - both making them, and making them work. This also goes for vehicles you may come across, such as motorcycles or lorries. However, to devise totally new machines you may need to apply the Physics skill. But if you already have the plans, all you need is the CDT skill and access to the right materials.

Current Affairs
World and Local News, High Society Scandal, Celebrity Gossip, Underworld Activity
It pays to be in the know, and St. Trinians girls always keep up to date with current affairs. However, as well as what is going on in the mainstream world, the girls also keep an eye on scandal, as it can lead to very lucrative blackmail opportunities, and the international criminal underworld. (Sometimes for profit. Sometimes to see what Cousin Luigi is doing this week.)

Drama
Imitation, Acting, Disguise
The game of 'Let's Pretend' might be fun, but at St. Trinians, this skill has more to it than just dressing up or interpreting Shakespeare. When playing any role, from a dumb receptionist to a major art dealer, as part of a scam, this skill is essential to be convncing. It also covers how well you use make-up, especially when creating disguises.

Economics
Buying, Selling, Trading, Haggling, Shopping
It's all about the deal, and while knowing the world trade systems is useful, knowing how to haggle can be even more valuable. This skill teaches you how to make a deal, how to appraise what you are buying, and how to shop around for the best deal.

Electronics
Electrical Repair, Modern Locks, Bomb Timers, Security Systems
In the modern world, it s essential to understand the way of the microchip. Especially since the little beasties cover locks, security systems, and explosive timers. This skill can help you build your own radio ... or swap loop feeds on security cameras.

English
Poetry, Writing, Persuasion, Oration
True grace and charm come from the command of language, so this skill teaches the way of poetry and literature. However, it also teaches how to use language as a weapon to inspire, command, and convince others to do as they are told. If you want to cajole, plead, or corrupt, then English is your weapon of choice.

Games (Team Sports)
Sports, Hockey, Unarmed Combat, Armed Melee Combat
Sport and team games teach teamwork, but so does a good battle. At St. Trinians, there's not much difference between the two. This skill covers participating in any team game, such as hockey or football. However, as hockeysticks can be wielded with devestating effect by a skilled practitioner, that form of combat is always popular amongst the girls. This skill also covers unarmed combat, and any form of close combat with weapons (knives, swords, clubs, lacrosse sticks etc.)

Games (Track & Field)
Athletics, Running, Climbing, Stealth, Sneaking
Running can be a vital skill, whether you are running to get to the dining hall before the desserts are all gone, or trying to get away from the police. With this skill, a girl can express her athletic potential in terms of running, climing, and jumping about. But these skills also train a girl to sneak, be stealthy, and how to jump out in ambush.

Games (Marksman)
Thrown Weapons, Firearms, Archery, Heavy Weapons
Plenty of archaic weapons have become elegant and respected sports. However, St. Trinians doesn't believe in limiting itself to the voices of the past. So, the girls train in the use of all forms of ranged combat. Trown weapons such as rocks and javelins, or more complex weapons like bows and slings. Older girls then ove on to pistols, then rifles, sei-automatic weapons, and even the dedicated students try their hands at bazookas and rocket launchers ...

Geography
Weather Forecasting, Tracking, Field-craft, Trails, Survival
Sometimes, a girl ends up out in the wilds, and all the knowledge of the urban environment won't help at all. So, as well as teaching the physical and political map of the world, St. Trinians ensures that the girls have some survival training. With this skill, a payer can name the State Capitals of the USA, track wild game (as well as two-legged targets) or live off the land, and predict local weather. The first years especially enjoy their geography field trips, and often practice by hunting visitors to the school. (One day, they may also learn that scalping them is not essential...)

History
History, Military History, Tactics & Strategy, Politics, Legal Skills
History helps us learn from the mistakes of the past, and St. Trinians girls are especially keen on military history. This skill may help you name the Kings and Queens of England, as well as the tactics of Napoleon or Alexander the Great. Knowledge of the world's great poisoners can be helpful, as well as the works of Machiavelli. Studying these subjects also teaches the girls legal know-how, which is always handy when your gang gets caught commiting armed robbery...

Home Economics
Cookery, Housekeeping, Potions, Poisons, Herbalism
The kitchen is an underestimated place of wonder and delight to any girl. This has nothing to do with Mrs Beeton, but because the kitchen contains both fire and knives. These facilities also help the girls study poison lore, as well as the ancient art of the herbalist. When combined with an education in the occult a girl can concoct a wide variety of strange elixirs and potions. Coupled with chemistry, a herbalist can find all manner of ways to enhance the various mood affecting substances found in nature.

Languages
Specific Language
The language skill works in two ways. Firstly, it works like any other skill when trying to communicate, usng langage, secret code, sign language and so forth. The girl must roll to say or sign the right thing, and the observer must roll to be able to interpret it properly.

Secondly, every point you buy in Language allows you to comprehend an additional language other than your native tongue. PCs are assumed to speak English as their first language, unless they are from a country where English is not the native tongue, in which case they will need to have at least one point of Language in order to understand English. The player must state whch language they know for each point in this skill - these can be obvious like French or Chinese, less common, like ASL, obscure, such as Esperanto, or downright odd, such as Klingon.

Leadership
Inspiration, Team Organisation, Torture, Interrogation
At St. Trinians, leadership is a matter of example and perserverance, as well as Chinese burns and a viscious nature. Anyone mastering the skill of Leadership is a skilled orator, and able to organise large groups well. She can pass orders along to large groups effectively, as well as inspire loyalty and raise morale.

She is also skilled at the arts of torture and interrogation, as well as being able to survive them. Strong leaders can hold out against any forms of interrogation, and are skilled at handing out the same sort of punishment. These resistances may require the spending of Willpower, however, depending on circumstances.

Finally, this skill grants an extensive ability with knot tying, as it would be a great shame if prey, once caught, had ideas about getting away. Tying someone up, or trying to break free, therefore becomes a contested Leadership roll.

Maths
Financing, Stock Market Dealing, Gambling, Betting
Numbers can be fun! Not quadratic equations. They suck! But if you know how to make numbers dance, then you also know how to play cards and play the stock market. Ok, fine, you can also add up and do trigonometry. But a high proportion of the income attained by  St. Trinians comes from the way some of the sixth form manage their stock market portfolios. If you want to fleece someone at the card table, or raise funds to finance the latest expensive experiments in creating a Mini Cooper mounted laser gun, then this is the skill you need.

Music
Play Instrument
Music works much like the language skill. For every point in the music skill, you can play an instrument well enough to perform. As a skill it also allows you to understand usical notation, as well as reflecting your knowledge of musical genres like classical, pop, heavy metal and so forth. You can also use it to get a decent tune out of improvised items, like bottles and dustbins.

Needlework
Sewing, Fashion, Textiles, Lock Picking, Pick Pockets, Safecracking
It can be fun to make clothes and talk about fashion, but needles can be used in many other fun ways too! Girls can use this skin to sew on a button, dress well, and tell you who is currently a catwalk star. But all those skills with hairgrips and manual dexterity lead to another St. Trinians specialist subject: lock picking. Using Needlework, a girl can open locks, safes, and even pick a pocket or two. A few may even learn magic tricks to impress, or cause a distraction. However, knowing how to open a manual lock won't help you bypass an electronic security system - that requires the Electronics skill, but with these two skills combined, most conventional security systems are at your mercy.

Observation
Perception, Searching
While not a skill that is taught, Observation is nevertheless a vital skill if a girl wants to survive at St. Trinians. It can be used both actively and passively. As an active skill, it can be used to search places or seek someone out in a crowd, or even follow someone. As a passive skill, it increases your chance to spot an ambush or hidden traps. It is usually used in an opposed roll against the target's Games (Track & Field) skill, which is used for stealth tests.

Physics
Natural Law, Engineering, Trap Construction
Physics teaches you all about how the world around you works, and therefore, how to bend it to your will. You need to know the rules of the universe before you can smash them into tiny pieces. Attempts at tme travel and singularity creation requires the Physics skill. It also teaches a broad range of engineering knowledge, and is used to design the machines you can build with the CDT skill, and the traps that can be made with Geography.

Religious Studies
Comparative Religion, Ritual, Occult, Demonology, Necromancy, Witchcraft
Religion is often about learning how different cultures see the world. This incudes Christianity, Isla, Hinduism, Buddhism, but St. Trinians also includes pagan faiths, and Necromancy and Demonology in both theoretical and practical applications. This skill allows the girls to delve into the occult for fun and profit, as well as making her aware of the reasons why she really shouldn't... Demon summoning can be especially tricky, as Satan has made it clear he doesn't want his minions consorting with the girls of St. Trinians, as they are far too vile to be associated with Hell and it's denizens...

Social Studies
Psychology, Psychoanalysis, Empathy, Seduction, Detecting Lies
You can learn a lot by studying people. With this skill, you can see what makes people tick, when they are lying, when they are scared, and when they are hiding something. It also allows you to cold read someone, and play on what you see to manipulate them. The English skill inspires people, but the Social Studies skill lets you control them.

Veterinary
Animal Training, Falconry, Horse Riding, Veterinary Medicine
Animals are fun; so cute, so cuddly, and so much fun to train as attack beasts. With this skill you know how to make friends with animals, and use them for riding or as beasts of burden.  With time, you can train them to do all manner of things, from fetching, to attacking people. You also know how to care and look after them, including healing their wounds.
