Re: Chapter 1: Jita Patel
Jita Patel nodded, her eyes fixed on the weapon. She made it a point to remember the way the sigils worked their way around the artifact's surface. There was something about the jagged curves within the symbols that carved their way into her heart, filled her with a slow, dull dread. It wasn't terror--that was a visceral fight-or-flight response--but rather the sense that the world was due for a massive, painful change and that this weapon was the engine by which it happens.
"This is not a weapon," Jita began, then paused to collect her thoughts. "I mean, it is a weapon, in that it is an implement meant to wound and kill. But it's more than that, Brother. It is a kind of key, really."
"This...device will be pivotal in some event that cause the current reality to unravel. It is a bringer of great, unfettered chaos--no cycle, no balance, just pure, random madness. Whoever seeks to use this weapon must never be allowed it."
