Re: CHAPTER 2: Raven
In the past, Raven had ignored his Mage side and tried to distance himself as far from his connection to the Spirit Realm as he could. He had thought he had lived as long as he had because of failed attempts to get high on Rejuvenate more than once, and having either the worse or best luck in the Universe depending on how one looked at it. Now, though, as he strove and toiled for redemption of what was left of his tattered soul, he was beginning to wonder if he was not still around for a purpose beyond blind chance.
For, according to his buddy Tink, there was a thing out there made of technology and infused with the hollow ring of religion; not connection to something greater than one's self, but the guilt trips to be good, the constant remainders that one is such scum they must be punished for every thought, the implied consent that one could do whatever they wished just as long as they put enough cash in the donation plate once a week. This creation would awaken, and brand itself the new God of War Machines before attacking all of Humanity wherever it might be found. There would be a war beyond the scope anyone or being had ever witnessed to this point, it would turn what he had seen after he left the bunker into a walk on the beach. Some humans would fight back, others would try to protect the innocent as long as they could, and a few screwballs would even fight on behalf of this creature. Entire suns would be used as bombs to try and destroy it, more and more of the Spirit Realm would take sides, as mortal numbers dwindled fewer and fewer would remain innocent. The blatant abuse of Her children, coupled with the Blasphemer, might do damage to the splicer's own Goddess.
Raven once wouldn't have cared about any of this, in fact he would have made a tidy sum running blockades and smuggling supplies to the highest bidders. However, that was back when no one and nothing gave a shit about him; Clashing Boom Boom had, She had honored him with acceptance to be Her follower, and he was going to do his very damnedest to be worthy of that. He pulled out his weapons, checked his ammo levels, hung everything back where it belonged, and commanded his suit to find the caretaker. Once the bird had located him, he said,
"George, there's something I've got to go take care of, so you're in charge until I get back. You know the kind of people we look after, take in as many as you can and make them as comfortable as possible. Also, the transport I came here in is to be used only for business related to the new mission of this complex."
That said, a twice disgraced soldier who could not save twelve hundred lives boarded Osman's ship in hopes of saving all life everywhere...
