Chapter 3 Dr. Wave -  Robinson's Family Techocolor Treehouse

When he woke from the crash he found the escape pod quite damaged and on fires had started from re-entry. After putting out the fires he found his pod had crashed into, and was imbedded a cluster of splintered wood. Thankfully there was a vibroblade on the pod just incase someone had to cut themselves out. Once out he found himself and the pod a good way up the side of a masive tree that would put redwoods to shame...he could see the wreck of the ship in the Sid of a deep valley quiet a ways away. And there where fly in dinos.... great.... Venus,

He would needsomething to protect himself and the pod from the agresive plant life and bacteria.

Chapter 3 Dr. Wave -  Robinson's Family Techocolor Treehouse

Even though the Dr.’s personal life support systems were operational, he could sense that the aggressive life forms in the environment would pose a serious threat, sooner than later. Inspecting the escape pod, he thought he could modify its exterior light, to make it emit ultra-violet waves strong enough to keep out unwanted plants and bacteria, but not enough to harm him. He searched the pod for a tool kit. Someone had sense enough to leave a vibroblade, maybe they thought of the tool kit as well.

OOC: This would be a coincidental Forces 3/Life 2 effect to transform the light created by the pod into a weak anti-life field that would keep out plant life, bacteria, microbes, etc. without harming him.

Chapter 3 Dr. Wave -  Robinson's Family Techocolor Treehouse

He found his tool kit but it took quite a time to pry off panels bent into ways they could not be removed the normal ways. After an hour though he got it set up and the outside lights of the pod started shifting through the lights he had programed, the vines already starting to creep in he could see withering and falling from the pod.

Bit of an assessment of state.

Pod was damaged but some what functional.

It had a weak but long long lived power supply that should power most his needs (though he would have to watch the power levels in some cases.)

He had enough food and water for at least two weeks. More if he used what he knew to get the fabricator up and running and started making syth-food. Even if that stuff usaly tasted like shit compared to the real thing.

He was high up enough he should only have to worry about flying dino's or primitive humanoids.

He had a hand gun, tools, his suit and gun, the vibroblade and 17 dram to power them.

Survival wise it was a fairly positive outlook with the chance of being rescued if he got the radio working and/or got the lights going fairly bright at night (and sealed up nice and tight... dear god the bugs on this planet)

However getting to the ship did not look good It was a long ways a way, and he vaguely remembered something about a carnivore valley on Venus or some such in high school. He really hoped that wasn't what he was looking at the ship sliding into as parts of it suck from the cliff side and slid down more into the valley.

How could a search for paradise go so wrong.....

Chapter 3 Dr. Wave -  Robinson's Family Techocolor Treehouse

The Dr. peered up into the endless canopy and then down to a forest floor he couldn't even see. Despite its lethalness, the place was beautiful and seren. If only he didn't have so much to do... he couldn't wait meditate on limb and play his melodeon into the darkness. But, such peace had to wait, there was survival at hand. At least his UV light waves were working. It would make things much smoother. He thought working on the comm system and navigational systems the best use of his time today. Even if he couldn't reach anyone, he might be able to find something interesting near by. He had enough food for a little while. Once things were settled he could scavange for local edible flora and hunt some wild game.

He goes over to the navigation system in the pod and powers it up.

Ah.... How lucky! The navigation was barely damaged, it was able to bring up a map and locate him. He was about 100 degree East and 20 South putting him putting him a little southeast of the Ovda Regio on the Aphrodite Terra. That meant the Tahmina Sea was behind him and out in the distance that circular valley was the Artemis Corona surrounded by the Artemis mountains.... the so called valley of carnivores.

The crash was a few hundred miles away, there was no way he could get there to help any survivors in time to improve any odds of surviving. There only hopes of survival was sealing off some part of the ship as a base and working out of it.... if not they would surely have smaller carnivores running over them in no time. Hell, they might even be dead. He just had to hope others made it to escape pods and ended up in more hospitable spots like he did. That or some scavengers followed the ship down to steal scrap/parts and actually helped. >.>

Aphrodite Terra... that sounded familiar. He was in a wilderness region of the planet,  so roughing it was appropriate. Seeing that the nav system was in good shape was a relief, it would make things easier. He turned towards the comm system and checked what shape it was in.

The com unit wasn't damaged to much but he didn't have all the parts to fix it.... he could try and tare the ship up some for metal to make a big attena and hope some one uses old radio, but he would need to figure out a way to create the parts he needed to use the fabricator... thankfully it was in better shape and got to where he hoped it would work.

Problem was he was going to have to collect some menerals and protens for it to brake down or borrow some parts from his suit and burn out some dram to get it to just construct it from pure energy.

Chapter 3 Dr. Wave -  Robinson's Family Techocolor Treehouse

After surveying the state of the com system, the Dr. decided he must repair the replicator and find some raw materials to feed it if he is going to make any progress. He didn't have much in the way of climbing gear and the forest floor was a long way down and very dangerous. But, he had a better idea. Since the Nav system was running so well, he could use it to locate nearby sources of minerals and metals. Then, he could patch his helmet into the system and send a hologram of himself down to explore safely. When he found what he needed, he could break the minerals down into data that could be transmitted directly into the replicator.

OOC: First, a Corr 1, Matter 1 effect using the nav system would locate raw materials. Next, a Corr 2, Forces 3, Prime 2 effect sends a hologram of the Dr. to the location, while the Dr. explores safely through his visor. I know sending an hologram usually requires Mind 3 to 'trick' others into believing it is real, but this aspect of the rote is unnecessary here. When the minerals are found, a Corr 2, Forces 3, Matter 2 effect digitizes the minerals and sends them back to the pod. Technically, Forces would not be needed in this standard apportaiton effect, but the Dr. lacks the technology that would allow him to teleport matter, but digitizing it and sending it as data is well within his paradigm.

He had to take his suit off and wire it, the nav system, and the fabricator together and do a lot A LOT of requiring but he was able to set up a system that allowed remote use of the fabricator. Using some spare parts inteded for the undamaged systsems he was able to create a projector for the solid-light hologram and something to link up to the fabricator to brake down and send matter to it.

By the end of the day he had everything set up, could use the fabricator every so often to convert some of the tree fibers into a string he could lower the projector with so he didn't risk damaging it.... last thing he needed was to drop it and it fail to slow it's fall and just shater on the roots of the tree.  >.<

The Dr. looked over his work, beaming with pride. He took a few bites of rations to give him a  little strength before putting it to the test. He carefully lowered the projector down to the bottom on a sturdy length of rope. When it reached the bottom he fires everything up.

His arms ached rather baddy by the time he lowered it all the way down, it wasn't that heavy but he was several hundred feet up. Reaching the forest floor he had kinda expected to come under attack at some point but he was lucky and took notice his device was being hunted before they moved in.  Dilo's.. or... well he forgot exsactly what they where called, but they where scavengers, they might try and attack due to the size and protecting there territory but most likely they would just threaten and spit at the hologram. If he was really lucky there spit had useful chemicals.

The Dr. was not worried about the dinosaurs. They would be far more interested in the hologram than the projector, though future modifications could include some sort of light or sound that frightened them away or made them docile (OOC: Mind 2). He turned on his goggles to check the display. When it became visible, he began his virtual adventure towards the first resource nodule. He spent time really looking at the environment. The Nav hook up could never transmit the true majesty of the actual scents and textures of the planet, but he could at least experience them.

As expected he was spit at, and there was some acids in them he could use. The first node was reading as a hyper conductor and he expected some gold but found copper, it was rather special but not quite Kypris. The sad thing was what ever impurities that keep it from being Kypris caused it to have a resistance to electricity, that and there was very little of it. It meant if he didn't find more conductive material the wires would have to be VERY thin and could not be used for more than a few minutes at a time with out cooling off.

A quick check of the nav said there was some more hyper conductive material he could use but it was near the range limit of the device. Crystalline structures in a retrievable location though where near by in a cave.

Disappointed in the subpar copper, the Dr. moves on to the cavern. If it was truly in range of the device, that would be great. Otherwise he might waste precious time tinkering with it to get a mile or two more range. He might be able to boost the range temporarily, but the dram was better off used elsewhere for sure. He entered the cavern cautiously, senses forgetting he isn't "really" there.

Just a note: It is unnaturally good copper, it is subpar kypris. It will work a good deal better than copper but there is verry little of it so it, so its use would have to be in the form of wires and the like that if they where normal coper they would melt in seconds.... but this stuff won't but it still can't take it for a long time.

The cave had some unsettling large bats and insects about, but being the sun was still going down they where mostly dormant at the moment. Still it wound be night soon so he doughted it would take much to wake them.

After collecting his haul he decided it was best to turn in for the night. He had put in a lot of work and a tired body and mind wasn't going to produce good results. He disconnected the sense link from the Nav system and stretched his arms a little before the long hauling of the projection device. Whew! What a height. When it was finally up, he took a long drink of water. Finally he cleaned up and retired into the interior of the cabin, drifting to sleep with thoughts of what he was going to do tomorrow and what other adventures awaited him on Venus.

The Dr. woke the next morning with his usual regimen of fitness and breathing meditation. These were mostly stretching, yoga-like strength exercises, and focus on the mind and restoration the body's natural balance. After this, he had a nice sized serving of rations rather than the one quarter portion he had been holding fast to since crashing. As soon as he was finished, he began working on a communications antenna. He fed the schematics into the replicator. When it was complete, he connected it to the com system and tried to get message out,

"Mayday, Mayday, Mayday.
This is Dr. Loomis Wave of the Starship Anais.
Mayday.
I am in a Forest in Aphrodite Terra. Transmitting my coordinates now.
My escape pod has crash landed.
Immediate assistance required.

He wasn't use to working with any metamaterials of this quality let alone from a natural sorce, near-kypris quality copper was a bit of a lucky brake to just find. He didn't know if he overestimated and made it too thin, or the impurities had gathered in the spot that burnt out... but ether way a section of hair thin wire heating up and burst into flames.

He managed to prevent any damage beyond the loss of that segment of wire-ring but he had no idea if anything got out or not, but he wasn't going to anymore with out that metal down by the Tahmina Sea.... that was a long way away, the only other option would be to take apart the nav system or other systems of the ship to get the wiring, but he didn't know what he would or wouldn't need. He could take the projector appart but then he would be much more limited on what he could eat/drink if he didn't get rescued right away.... then again he could always use the dram on him to power the fabricator into making the material he needed from what was left of the copper and quintessence.

Though frustrating, the Dr. did not the setback deter him. Feeling pressed for time, he decided to use one of his precious Drams to help get the job done more efficiently. He was pleased at what he had accomplished thus far, but given the circumstances, a little more was needed. Having the pieces he needed to communicate would be a good step towards getting out of his predicament.

He has a stroke of genius... the first time he failed out right and wasted some some dram but the second time he managed to suspend the substance and heat it into a molten state while the fabricator stilled into it's pattern adding to it allowing the metal to crystallize it and allow the pattern to expand on it's own.

It damaged the fabricator a little but nothing he couldn't fix. The radio could be fixed now with out a need of having to use thin wires.

The sudden flash of insight was quite a rush. As a scientist and explorer, it was those moments of inspiration that he lived for. Applying science and intellect for his very survival was one of the most primal and essential traits of man, and there he was, exhibiting the traits his species was known for so deftly! After a short break, he tried sending out his message again. Repairs to the replicator could wait for now.

<Well that being said, this is another dimension/reality ... spiritual if you believe that stuff. If you don't believe that you will be hurt by your fall, you won't.... that being said... it's a lot harder than it sounds, but could be important considering your perdeciment. Honestly I don't anyone personaly that has pulled the whole... I won't be hurt by the fall, i can breath in space stuff that wasn't raised believing that stuff... but I swear falls only going to hurt you here if you believe it will, just like you can't breath in space only if you believe you can't..... crazy shit, I know.> That was very very very true, it was WAY harder than it sounded. A lot of marines and other stuff would try and be 'eather breathers' but very few actually would succeed. They would fill a bay full and vent it to space before activating the helms on there suits and maybe two or three might not pass out.

That's a long time when your trying to breath but can't to convenience yourself that your not suffocating or won't if you just breath you can breath.... or what ever they do to do it... he can only image it seams like a long time falling to be trying to convenience yourself your not going to die when you hit the ground.

Particularly if you have never seen it happen before....

A lot of people don't believe this is even true, they think it's something that mages, the marines don't do it because they think that's the case even for the most part.... they think it's some kinda genetic thing they can't detect.

It all adds up to being near impossible....  willpower roll diff 7~9 with 3 success needed, diff depending on just how open minded the person is.

Though Dr. felt relatively safe in his makeshift shelter, the words of the voice on the radio did send his mind to curiosity. He definitely believed that the mind and spirit were powerful things, capable of resilience and survival, especially when nurtured. He wondered if he could use his meditation and breathing exercises, perhaps combined with light therapy to prepare his mind for such an occurrence. He tinted his pocket light so that it suffused his seated body in a green radiance, the color of life, virility, survival. He then focused his breathing, meditating on the center of his will... his will to live, to be, to exist.

The Compsognathus curiosicarius where small too but the nav didn't take into account how many of them there where.... sneaking in and getting away with the nest wouldn't be as easy as it sounded. Still he could 'run' in and just go back to the tree.

The scan was also picking up on some Raphus replicare, dodo's, now that the device was down there scanning around.

I don't think the Chompies have nests in tree's .... ether way they notice the hologram snatching up there nest and after a warning sound to the others there was quite a few of them rather quickly. Seemingly out of nowhere there was half a dozen of the little buggers and they did not seam very afraid of taking on something human-sized staling there eggs.

Though just a holographic version of his body, the sight of them coming for him was unnerving. He immediately held out his hand, the LEDs in his palm emitting a pulsing pattern that would disorient them and temporarily blind them.

OOC: This is a Forces 2/Mind 2 effect that intensifies the light to be blinding and adds a disorientation effect with mind 2 or simply a subliminal STOP!

The light stuns them and a few trip over themselves or roots while others run into eachother, but while they slowly start to shake it off it dose give him time to get away.

Using his moment, the Dr. sends the eggs back to his camp and quickly returns himself, pulling up the device behind him.

he's a little to far to just zat them back, but he's able to lose the chompies anyway so it don't matter.

The eggs are small, but they are eggs and there is enough he could make some scrambled eggs.

He does just that, whipping them up using improvised gear in the pod, heating coils as a hot plate and what not. He even had a few mineral salts to add a little zest. This would help his provisions stretch a bit further until that search party arrives.

Wave would have seen the moon bridge come in of far to the north if he was looking, the navcom might have even picked up the energy burst..... maybe. But if he didn't the guy at the camp did. <What the hell......>

The Dr. is surprised to hear the voice, "That is sad to hear, but thank you for coming to find me." When the moon bridge appears, he is stunned momentarily, "What is that?"
