Chapter 3 Dr. Wave -  Robinson's Family Techocolor Treehouse

The com unit wasn't damaged to much but he didn't have all the parts to fix it.... he could try and tare the ship up some for metal to make a big attena and hope some one uses old radio, but he would need to figure out a way to create the parts he needed to use the fabricator... thankfully it was in better shape and got to where he hoped it would work.

Problem was he was going to have to collect some menerals and protens for it to brake down or borrow some parts from his suit and burn out some dram to get it to just construct it from pure energy.

Chapter 3 Dr. Wave -  Robinson's Family Techocolor Treehouse

After surveying the state of the com system, the Dr. decided he must repair the replicator and find some raw materials to feed it if he is going to make any progress. He didn't have much in the way of climbing gear and the forest floor was a long way down and very dangerous. But, he had a better idea. Since the Nav system was running so well, he could use it to locate nearby sources of minerals and metals. Then, he could patch his helmet into the system and send a hologram of himself down to explore safely. When he found what he needed, he could break the minerals down into data that could be transmitted directly into the replicator.

OOC: First, a Corr 1, Matter 1 effect using the nav system would locate raw materials. Next, a Corr 2, Forces 3, Prime 2 effect sends a hologram of the Dr. to the location, while the Dr. explores safely through his visor. I know sending an hologram usually requires Mind 3 to 'trick' others into believing it is real, but this aspect of the rote is unnecessary here. When the minerals are found, a Corr 2, Forces 3, Matter 2 effect digitizes the minerals and sends them back to the pod. Technically, Forces would not be needed in this standard apportaiton effect, but the Dr. lacks the technology that would allow him to teleport matter, but digitizing it and sending it as data is well within his paradigm.

Chapter 3 Dr. Wave -  Robinson's Family Techocolor Treehouse

He had to take his suit off and wire it, the nav system, and the fabricator together and do a lot A LOT of requiring but he was able to set up a system that allowed remote use of the fabricator. Using some spare parts inteded for the undamaged systsems he was able to create a projector for the solid-light hologram and something to link up to the fabricator to brake down and send matter to it.

By the end of the day he had everything set up, could use the fabricator every so often to convert some of the tree fibers into a string he could lower the projector with so he didn't risk damaging it.... last thing he needed was to drop it and it fail to slow it's fall and just shater on the roots of the tree.  >.<

The Dr. looked over his work, beaming with pride. He took a few bites of rations to give him a  little strength before putting it to the test. He carefully lowered the projector down to the bottom on a sturdy length of rope. When it reached the bottom he fires everything up.

His arms ached rather baddy by the time he lowered it all the way down, it wasn't that heavy but he was several hundred feet up. Reaching the forest floor he had kinda expected to come under attack at some point but he was lucky and took notice his device was being hunted before they moved in.  Dilo's.. or... well he forgot exsactly what they where called, but they where scavengers, they might try and attack due to the size and protecting there territory but most likely they would just threaten and spit at the hologram. If he was really lucky there spit had useful chemicals.

The Dr. was not worried about the dinosaurs. They would be far more interested in the hologram than the projector, though future modifications could include some sort of light or sound that frightened them away or made them docile (OOC: Mind 2). He turned on his goggles to check the display. When it became visible, he began his virtual adventure towards the first resource nodule. He spent time really looking at the environment. The Nav hook up could never transmit the true majesty of the actual scents and textures of the planet, but he could at least experience them.

Chapter 3 Dr. Wave -  Robinson's Family Techocolor Treehouse

As expected he was spit at, and there was some acids in them he could use. The first node was reading as a hyper conductor and he expected some gold but found copper, it was rather special but not quite Kypris. The sad thing was what ever impurities that keep it from being Kypris caused it to have a resistance to electricity, that and there was very little of it. It meant if he didn't find more conductive material the wires would have to be VERY thin and could not be used for more than a few minutes at a time with out cooling off.

A quick check of the nav said there was some more hyper conductive material he could use but it was near the range limit of the device. Crystalline structures in a retrievable location though where near by in a cave.

Disappointed in the subpar copper, the Dr. moves on to the cavern. If it was truly in range of the device, that would be great. Otherwise he might waste precious time tinkering with it to get a mile or two more range. He might be able to boost the range temporarily, but the dram was better off used elsewhere for sure. He entered the cavern cautiously, senses forgetting he isn't "really" there.

Just a note: It is unnaturally good copper, it is subpar kypris. It will work a good deal better than copper but there is verry little of it so it, so its use would have to be in the form of wires and the like that if they where normal coper they would melt in seconds.... but this stuff won't but it still can't take it for a long time.

The cave had some unsettling large bats and insects about, but being the sun was still going down they where mostly dormant at the moment. Still it wound be night soon so he doughted it would take much to wake them.

ooc: thanks. I was getting mixed messages from the description.

The Dr. searched out the minerals while trying not to disturb the insects, dimming the intensity of his hologram's glow... Moth to the flame and all of that.

He found the deposit with little trouble. That was all he needed unless he wanted to go for the other hyper conductor. But it was getting late and he had to consider rest soon, and any form of protection beyond the lights outside he feels he may or may not need.

Chapter 3 Dr. Wave -  Robinson's Family Techocolor Treehouse

After collecting his haul he decided it was best to turn in for the night. He had put in a lot of work and a tired body and mind wasn't going to produce good results. He disconnected the sense link from the Nav system and stretched his arms a little before the long hauling of the projection device. Whew! What a height. When it was finally up, he took a long drink of water. Finally he cleaned up and retired into the interior of the cabin, drifting to sleep with thoughts of what he was going to do tomorrow and what other adventures awaited him on Venus.

Pulling the projector up might not have been necessary, then again it might have, but it did take an awfully lot of time and something did come fairly close to attacking him but seamed driven off by the lights. Besides that the night was rather uneventful.

Chapter 3 Dr. Wave -  Robinson's Family Techocolor Treehouse

The Dr. woke the next morning with his usual regimen of fitness and breathing meditation. These were mostly stretching, yoga-like strength exercises, and focus on the mind and restoration the body's natural balance. After this, he had a nice sized serving of rations rather than the one quarter portion he had been holding fast to since crashing. As soon as he was finished, he began working on a communications antenna. He fed the schematics into the replicator. When it was complete, he connected it to the com system and tried to get message out,

"Mayday, Mayday, Mayday.
This is Dr. Loomis Wave of the Starship Anais.
Mayday.
I am in a Forest in Aphrodite Terra. Transmitting my coordinates now.
My escape pod has crash landed.
Immediate assistance required.
Over”

Chapter 3 Dr. Wave -  Robinson's Family Techocolor Treehouse

He wasn't use to working with any metamaterials of this quality let alone from a natural sorce, near-kypris quality copper was a bit of a lucky brake to just find. He didn't know if he overestimated and made it too thin, or the impurities had gathered in the spot that burnt out... but ether way a section of hair thin wire heating up and burst into flames.

He managed to prevent any damage beyond the loss of that segment of wire-ring but he had no idea if anything got out or not, but he wasn't going to anymore with out that metal down by the Tahmina Sea.... that was a long way away, the only other option would be to take apart the nav system or other systems of the ship to get the wiring, but he didn't know what he would or wouldn't need. He could take the projector appart but then he would be much more limited on what he could eat/drink if he didn't get rescued right away.... then again he could always use the dram on him to power the fabricator into making the material he needed from what was left of the copper and quintessence.

Though frustrating, the Dr. did not the setback deter him. Feeling pressed for time, he decided to use one of his precious Drams to help get the job done more efficiently. He was pleased at what he had accomplished thus far, but given the circumstances, a little more was needed. Having the pieces he needed to communicate would be a good step towards getting out of his predicament.

He has a stroke of genius... the first time he failed out right and wasted some some dram but the second time he managed to suspend the substance and heat it into a molten state while the fabricator stilled into it's pattern adding to it allowing the metal to crystallize it and allow the pattern to expand on it's own.

It damaged the fabricator a little but nothing he couldn't fix. The radio could be fixed now with out a need of having to use thin wires.

Chapter 3 Dr. Wave -  Robinson's Family Techocolor Treehouse

The sudden flash of insight was quite a rush. As a scientist and explorer, it was those moments of inspiration that he lived for. Applying science and intellect for his very survival was one of the most primal and essential traits of man, and there he was, exhibiting the traits his species was known for so deftly! After a short break, he tried sending out his message again. Repairs to the replicator could wait for now.

"No worries. I should be ok here for a while. See you soon. Over and out." It was nice to know that someone at least knew he was there. Though rugged, he knew this camp out would be good for him. He was growing tired of rations and thought he'd try his hand at foraging. Using the Nav system, he sought out nearby fruits and vegetables that were edible His VR rig could easily be modified to transmit biologicals. If it works out, he might even try hunting!

Chapter 3 Dr. Wave -  Robinson's Family Techocolor Treehouse

<Well that being said, this is another dimension/reality ... spiritual if you believe that stuff. If you don't believe that you will be hurt by your fall, you won't.... that being said... it's a lot harder than it sounds, but could be important considering your perdeciment. Honestly I don't anyone personaly that has pulled the whole... I won't be hurt by the fall, i can breath in space stuff that wasn't raised believing that stuff... but I swear falls only going to hurt you here if you believe it will, just like you can't breath in space only if you believe you can't..... crazy shit, I know.> That was very very very true, it was WAY harder than it sounded. A lot of marines and other stuff would try and be 'eather breathers' but very few actually would succeed. They would fill a bay full and vent it to space before activating the helms on there suits and maybe two or three might not pass out.

That's a long time when your trying to breath but can't to convenience yourself that your not suffocating or won't if you just breath you can breath.... or what ever they do to do it... he can only image it seams like a long time falling to be trying to convenience yourself your not going to die when you hit the ground.

Particularly if you have never seen it happen before....

A lot of people don't believe this is even true, they think it's something that mages, the marines don't do it because they think that's the case even for the most part.... they think it's some kinda genetic thing they can't detect.

It all adds up to being near impossible....  willpower roll diff 7~9 with 3 success needed, diff depending on just how open minded the person is.
