Severian wore his casual robes and polished his horns for his first liberty among the Expeditionary forces. He kept an open mind for the free time ahead.



The colony was quaint, the energy mage thought to himself. If anything, it would help him be better accustomed and understand humans in a more social than military setting.



Severian felt the receptionist's smile was forced when he checked in but said nothing. The room was spacious and wondered why all rooms for beings of his importance were not accorded the same quarters on a military vessel?



The local fare for this "brunch" was acceptable & gave Severian a sample of human food. The little girl dressed in confection paper was odd to him but he did accept the "chocolate" treat. It was like nothing he had had before and he purchased 5 boxes of the treats, truly impressed with its flavor!



Severian did haggle at first until the others in his group told him the prices were set and it confused Severian who was used to haggling and bartering with the best at the bazaars and marketplaces on Peryton. Remaining silent, he did browse the shops and brought copies of reading fare called "A song of ice and fire" series because of the pictures.



Severian found the movie amusing and wondered if the Goblin King was so powerful, why he just didn't call upon his magic to destroy the Luto character and the boulders with simple energy bolts instead of allowing his minions with weak slug throwers to engage them?



Severian found the second film full of scientific impossibilities and a few magical ones as well. After the movie, he looked forward to a meal and he was silently impressed with the meal. After eating, he decided to walk about the colony despite the odd look for a few passerbys. He returned to the hotel afterwards and after a good night sleep and the next day, back to the Gambit to fulfill his duties as a Sentinel Operative.

 Command group -

   Before Kaarle makes it out the door, Commander Rockatansky. Stops and looks Miriana in the eyes. "If this team is to be in command of these soldiers, they should know what to expect." With that he leaves.



    Those returning from leave -

   you land to find the Gambit is going about its day normally. A deck hand who checks everyone in, confirms who you are and welcomed back.

Iphigenia was so excited to be going on leave, anything was better than wondering around the gambit looking, for things to do to keep her busy.

She boards the beta and sits in the seat farthest from the  cockpit as possible, she wanted to be able to see how the others boarding the beta that is going to the Marcus are acting plans to do the same thing on the way back to the Gambit.

Iphigenia Followed everybody up to the hotel and checked in, she got to her room and felt that everything was more than adequate, she thought to herself " Maybe I could get someone to join me in my room it's almost to quite." she decided to go look at the shops on the second floor before the movie started.

Iphigenia found a shop that had a couple of items that she had been looking for so that she could do some sewing on some hides that she had back in her locker at the Gambit, she bought a pack of much-needed needles and six different colors of thread. While she was walking around a cute little girl came up to her selling some sweets, she tried the chocolates and a couple of other candies and decided that she would also buy two boxes of chocolate and a couple of bags of the butterscotch and cinnamon flavored hard candies.

Iphigenia enjoyed watching the labyrinth, however, was a little apprehensive of Moon 44 she wasn't sure about what type of story it was trying to tell.

The meals on the Marcus were to die for so many choices all, of course, were better than a typical military meal that is served on the Gambit.

Iphigenia despite sleeping in her room by herself slept very well and woke up late and barely made it to the beta to head back to the Gambit. Fortunately she was able to see the change in demeanor of everybody, and felt that it was a good change so she decided that she would  have a piece of candy and realized that out of all the candies that she bought all she had with her was the chocolate and a bag of each of the butterscotch and cinnamon candies. she thought to herself " did I eat all of that candy or did I leave some of it behind?"

Back on the Gambit , she noticed that the atmosphere was off not sure what was the cause of it, but she knew she didn't like it. She went to her locker deposited her stuff that she brought and bought on the Marcus then grabbed a needle, some red thread, and the hide sat on her bunk and began sewing.

  Sillia smiled as the medic who chatted about eating so much candy. “It is rather yummy. I got some for our poor bunkmate Thirteen since he was not allowed to come." She said with a smile. “Did you guys enjoy your evening after Dinner?”

  Looking at Kaarle with wide as as she took the offered hand to help her up. She spoke softly in response trying to not offend him. "If you are court-martialed who will be there to protect Reader? I am ashamed of how I broke down, sir. This was not the first time I have been through this synchronizing process, and sadly it will not be the last time, sir. I would ask you not to do something stupid as it will result in bad things for you. And leave Reader exposed with no one to keep an eye one her." her eyes lower with her next statement; "What kind of squadron leader would you be if you left those under your command for such a selfish reason?" she did not bring her eyes back up for several long seconds.

  "Shall we get some food sir?"

Kaarle shook his head at her reasoning, not because it wasn't true, but because she was so adamant that this was the only way...

He looked at her and said without malice or coercion on his part "while I will try my best to stay where I am... I cannot sit idly by while they torture you all because someone couldn't be bothered to find another way to make the process work" the anger at the situation.

He shook his head again before saying..."enough talk about that, lets go get something to eat" as he led her out the door down to the mess hall.

Cerise roils on the inside throughout the ordeal with Lt Grey and Thirteen, however her face displays her usual gem-like impassiveness. Obviously something must be done. But what? Why would the humans allow such a torturous procedure to continue... were these child super-soldiers so important to their cause that they would allow themselves to become as depraved as the Robotech Masters and the Invid? She would have to consider this.

After the team returns from their leave, she brings a rather large piece of quartz to Sillia in her quarters.

"PFC Sillia, would you be able to find room to stow this in your HK? If not, I will find another place, but if you can, I would appreciate it."

Thirteen spent a long time thinking and probably would have continued longer if the rumbling of his stomach did not snap him back to reality.

He sighed and finished his shower then got dressed and moved out to get something to eat. He would have to ask their Commander some questions... when things calm down.

  Moving the two groups so they are synced in time.

  Kaarle and Michelle run into Thirteen as they get some food in the Mess hall. While non of them bring up the events of earlier, they do make small talk and enjoy food. When Miriana enters she gives a disapproving look and then sits alone studying her work tablet. Cerise is dealing with a personal issue and eats later. the three hangout Checking on the Mecha of Thirteen and Michelle. both the Alpha and Thirteen's 40's series Cyclone are painted black and greys. But on the Canopy of the Alpha is the only yellow on the entire Alpha. A bat symbol. after a bit of walking around trying to entertain themselves they grow tired and head to their bunks.

  In the morning Thirteen is awoken by the sound of his bunk-mates as they return from their trip. Sillia give the assorted chocolate candies to Thirteen. She tells the young man all about the trip and explains to him about the arcade and movie theater with hot buttery popcorn. The hotel and all the other fun activities. When Cerise arrives to talk with Sillia.



  the two groups are now able to interact with each other.

  Sillia takes the Quartz examining it with a curious eye cast to her commanding officer. "I am not sure it will fit inside with me, ma'am. But I will carry it with me until you ask for it back if you like. But if you do not mind, why do you want me to carry a gem with us into combat?"

In reply to Sillia (msg # 104):

During most of the trip Skyrah would have been silent, even upon their return she would be quiet, at her side during it it all was her satchel. Upon their return she will immediately head for her Mecha and it's 'pit crew'. She would look it over for a moment, then move over to her Cyclone that she asked them to repair and look it over for a moment. She will then look for Nick. "Did you come up with any idea's for what we talked about on Albatross?" She asked calmly, pointing to her Delta.

Skyrah - You do not have to look very hard because as soon as the Nick and the Deck Chief see you, they walk over with a smile as you look over your Cyclone. It is in perfect order. They give you a few seconds, and when you ask about the Added stuff for your Delta, they inform you that they have approval and are in the process of designing it. However they cannot begin work till it can be installed within twelve hours since your one a moments notice for mission launch. but they are working on the designs now and will get it done as soon as they can.

Thirteen felt a certain degree of shame as he talked to Kaarle and Michelle. He wanted to say he was sorry but he did not want both of them being taken back for more. He was glad to see her well through.

Thirteen instinctively recoils when Sillia suddenly comes to him fearing he would have to suffer through something else. He was very surprised to instead recieve chocolate. He gives quick thanks after he is given the gift and listens to her tale in awe like he was given a gift to a world he did not know existed. He salutes Cerise and looked down at the chocolate as Sillia spoke to her. He was surprised to see drops of water beginning to fall around it.

He moved his right hand to his face and found that the drops came from his own eyes. He quickly tried to wipe them away before anyone noticed.

"Understood." She nodded once, then looked at Albatros for a moment. "With that modification I'll be able to perform my reconnaissance duties more readily." She then turned back towards Nick and the Crew Chief. "I had figured there would be resistance from the higher ups, how did you get it approved?" She was...smiling? She seemed genuinely pleased at the news. It was a sight to behold, a smile on the blondes face.

Cerise salutes Thirteen back; "At ease." When Thirteen begins to tear up and looks like he is trying to stop it, Cerise speaks up to him again; "Do not try to stifle it; releasing your feelings will allow you to better cope with your situation."

Then to Silia: "It is simply an escape vector, in case the worst should happen to me. If you do not have room in your cargo, then I will find another way; certainly do not bring it with you if it will hinder your performance in any way. I'm sure I can solve the problem in another way."

Miriana gave a quick nod in response, before shrugging after the Commander had left. She then returned to her own quarters, finding Skyrah gone and believing her to still be on leave. She opened her locker and set up her Perfect Vision Virtual Reality Interface, and after making sure everything was set up correctly, put the VR gear on and loaded up Perfect Night. It was time to get some training done.

Thirteen shyly shakes his head at Cerise's words.

"I can't..." He said softly, looking the closest to an actual child than he ever has. The thought of what might happen if he actually talked about what was happening to him was not a pleasant one to him.

"I know that you may not be at liberty to discuss the specifics, but what I meant was, simply, to allow your emotions to flow freely; not so much your words." Cerise makes something resembling a smile on her purple gem-like face. "Things are quite different on Spheria, as I imagine they are for human civilians as well; since you are, at least nominally, in the military, a certain hardness is required of you. But, remember, the Zentraedi had mastered 'hardness', and that was their undoing when they encountered Minmei. Humans have the capability to embrace their emotions without being controlled by them. You, and the other young ones, have not fully learned that skill yet, but I think it is the skill that you will need to survive the path that has been set before you." Cerise turns to Sillia "Ms Sillia, do Garudans have any special mechanisms for coping with emotional turmoil to prevent it from becoming a liability?"

  Sillia looked back at Thirteen as Cerise mentioned something about not talking about something that sounded important. She felt a bit worried watching this tough kid looking on the verge of losing it. She had not seen him look so frail. Not even on the planet where they met. She wanted to ponce on him right there and then and find out what was going on.

  She did not like whatever it was that cause this kid to look so weak. But whatever it was she would figure it out and deal with it.

  She took the Quartz and put it in her duty bag that would go with them on their next mission. When the Lieutenant left them she went back to settling things in her bunk and when she thought she had a moment she pulled a piece of candy out and twisted about and literally put the candy in the kids mouth before he could turn. She half whispers and mouths; "Are you ok? How can I help?"

  With that she stands back up. "Oh my gosh, these chocolates can make anyone lose their mind."

   Michelle wakes sitting curled up in the corner of her bunk, Gallant in hand she half watched the door waiting for someone to enter. her sleep filled with nightmares. When she hears Kaale fidget below and she smiles, a bit.

  When he makes enough noise to let her know he is fully awake, she speaks; "Sir. I need to go to see the commander soon. Would you walk with me?"

Thirteen looked at Sillia and Cerise sheepishly. He struggled to put into words what he thought.

"It's... just... well..." He started. "I do not remember much.... before I was found... but I do remember feelings.... and... I have never had this feeling before...." He looked down. "No one has given me... a gift before..."

When Cerise mentions something about not allowing one's emotions to become a liability Thirteen's head snaps back up.

"No! I mean... no... I am alright.... please...."

The fear in his eyes was raw.

Kaarle woke with little fanfare to Michelle's query.  He hadn't planned on getting out of bed just yet but decided it was best to go with her.  "Sure i can go with you" he said still a bit groggy as he slip out bed in just his boxers.

And such was life on board ship as he jumped in surprise at the cold ass floor beneath his feet as yelped "fuck that's cold" as he hurriedly fetched his uniform, specifically starting with his socks as he sat down in a chair getting dressed.

Before long he was standing there ready to meet with the commander, everything nice and neat, his hair combed and his teeth brushed.  With a mouth full of toothpaste brushing away he muttered aloud "you should probably get ready, we don't want to keep the commander waiting"

  Michelle jumped down from her bunk setting her Gallant down. Without shame or embarrassment she removed her clothing form the day before and quickly replaced them with  a fresh uniform. Her make up took her the longest time to put on as if she was still learning how to apply it. But in the end it looked good and the eyeliner came to a point which made her eyes shine and have a more olive look.

  With that finished she strapped her Gallant on and lead the two to commander Rockatansky's office.  Once there she looked at the commanders assistant with a smile and spoke; "Good morning Lt. Fell, I have an appointment with the commander."

  Before she enters, she turns to Kaarle and ask him to wait for her as these were private conversations.

Iphigenia fell asleep sewing and woke up hungry, so she brushed her hair and cleaned her face, satisfied with her appearance she made her way to the mess hall. She grabbed one of the boxes of chocolate she bought on the Marcus and placed it on thirteens bunk before she left. she also grabbed one of the bags of candy as well hoping she would be able to give it to Lt. Grey.

Iphigenia didn't walk into anybody on her way to the mess hall, which she actually thought that was a little odd. The mess hall, however, was full, she grabbed a tray, went to the food line got some food and a cup of tea. She turned around to find a place to sit, she saw Lt. Grey and decided to go and give her the candy.

Iphigenia sat down at the table that Lt. Grey was standing next to and began eating, "Lt. Grey I've gotten..." Iphigenia said as she turns to hand her the candy. Lt. Grey was gone.

Iphigenia finished her food and made her way to sickbay to do her rounds.

"I'm afraid I've failed to make my meaning clear; I know you are alright and that you can handle the straight up fighting and field work; that is what you know, even if you don't remember. What I was referring to is that, at least for humans, when you fail to embrace all of your emotions, and, instead, suppress some of them, then that becomes a liability; in the case of the Zentraedi, who are, if you did not know, originally from human stock, it was a liability that the entire race shared, due to the circumstances which they lived. Every single one of them was disallowed access to an entire range of emotions. Minmei tapped directly into that and left them entirely defenseless. But I know that you can avoid that same fate, because you are not going to be denied access to any of your emotions. I was simply trying to encourage you to not deny that access to yourself."
