quote:
I'd like Severian to come along, as he will be able to advanced recon. I'm not sure which team he'd be the most help for, once we've entered. The same goes for Ms. Ramsbottom, as well as you, Korvan. Ideally all three of you floaters would be able to magically appear wherever the heaviest resistance occurs; perhaps Severian has a magic spell for that. Barring mystical means, however, I think experience will rule the day when making such predictions, so, Korvan, I want you to lead a floating team, consisting of you, Severian, and our medic."

"In that case id better prepare", Severian says. He goes to his air skimmer and checks its unique systems. He also checks his sidearm - his trusty Tr-HIB MK.IV Heavy Ion Blaster. Finally he does a quick check of his CVR-1 armor and its recon helmet, modified to fit the horns atop his head.

Her eyes narrows as she hears the orders given. If it was possible for anyone to hear her in the cockpit of her Veritech they might actually be afraid for their life as her screams of Offensive thoughts need to be released.

  She calms herself down as she listens and then replies to Kaarle;

with that she breaks formation and heads back towards the Vulture to group up with the Salvage team.

switching radio over to the vultures channel and with a calm mater of fact voice she says; "Batgirl to vulture, I will be in base location in two minutes."

Cerise is a bit surprised to hear that Lt Grey is returning to the Vulture, and to see that she turned back on radar readings: "Batgirl, are you suffering mechanical difficulties? Why are you returning to the Vulture?"

As Korvan hears Batgirl on the radio, informing them that she was en-route; He is about to reply to her when he hears Cerise speak. He looks at Cerise with a puzzled expression as if she should already know the answer to her own question. "Lt you had radioed wraith to send Batgirl to assist with salvage. Its not truthfully my place, but I think when you and the other officers are forming battle plans, I think it would be wise to include wraith commander in on the forming of it. Otherwise we have miscommunication, such as this Ma'am."

"I indicated she would be on the team that would assist with recovering parts for the Vulture... at the base that they are now patrolling. I did not ask her to return here. Thank you for pointing out how it could be misconstrued."

Cerise gets back on the radio: "Batgirl, return to patrol with Wraith. Only Reader is to return. When the ground troops arrive we will rendezvous at the location selected by Wraith, to finalize our plans and prepare for the assault."

"As for including everyone when we're making plans, that is the ideal, but since we have such limited air resources, it is pretty difficult to take one out of the sky when they are the only way to scout the base."

Re: Spacefold

Helen stalked through the swamp scanning her sensors keeping wary of any invid patrols.

Every so often she would signal those behind her to halt while she listened to the surroundings ensuring that surrounding area was clear.

17:11, Today: Helen Grey rolled 96 using 1d100 with rolls of 96.  Prowl 50%-10% for mecha penalty.FAIL

Attempting to move quietly through the swamp was difficult and she knew she wasn't doing a good job of it she curse every time her cyclone's foot caught on a root and ripped it away making a huge crashing or splashing sound.

Re: Spacefold

Once Batgirl returns he opens regular comms "Looks like your on my wing Batgirl, lets find a suitable location for this rendezvous".

It doesn't take long for them to scout the area near the base, wanting to avoid too much attention overhead he looks for a spot with solid tree cover with a relatively direct path to the base.  Once a staging area has been located he fires the coordinates back to Cerise.

"I believe we found a suitable staging area, please confirm that this is acceptable?"

Re: Spacefold

About 30 minutes into their journey, Cerise receives the call with coordinates and photos of the possible rendezvous site. She checks out the aerial view as well as the open space on the ground.

"Affirmative Wraith. We'll meet you there. Our current ETA is around 4 hours; it is slow going on the ground. I suggest that you rotate to get some rest; you've been at it for a while already."

OOC: I assume that we probably only average around 20mph in the wilderness. The base started out 90 miles from us.

16:45, Today: Secret Roll: Cerise rolled 47 using 1d100 with rolls of 47.  Land Navigation (44%). I assume this is using dead-reckoning and other land-nav type techniques; Cerise would be doing this in hopes of having a means of double checking her sensor/map based navigation

16:44, Today: Secret Roll: Cerise rolled 55 using 1d100 with rolls of 55.  Navigation (60%). I assume this is using sensors and maps to home in on coordinates.

In reply to Cerise (msg # 288):

"Let me help with the Navigation ma'am."
Skyrah offered to Cerise, as she took up a position near or with her.

OOC: Skyrah will assist with the navigation as needed.

20:46, Today: Secret Roll: Skyrah Valentine rolled 31 using 1d100 with rolls of 31.  Navigation (50%).
20:46, Today: Secret Roll: Skyrah Valentine rolled 97 using 1d100 with rolls of 97.  Land Navigation (56%).

This is humorous, but going by how Cerise looks at the skills, seems Skyrah is using her Cyclone's sensors better to navigate them then she is using the terrain. lol

"Roger, see you in a few hours then"...he lands his mech in the the staging area in guardian mode waiting for his wing-man to follow suit.

He opens up the cockpit pulling off his helmet, letting in some of the fresh air, the smell was different then what he was used too having spent vary little time on planet throughout his life.  Stretching out a little bit he looks over to Batgirl and flips on his comm channel.

"We have a few hours, get some rest I'll keep watch until you relieve me" he sits back down in his seat putting his helmet back on.  Once the cock pit is sealed once more he takes off again in a short patrol perimeter around their location.

As the passenger in Nyota's Bioroid, Miriana simply went through the list of things her repair crews had requested, occasionally scribbling an addition or two on as optional alternatives she could build a required part from if such a part could not be found. She wouldn't strike up a conversation, leaving the fellow Meltrandi to the piloting, but would answer questions or attempts at conversation coming off of Nyota or radio messages aimed at her.

Severian traveled with the group on his air skimmer at their speed. He wished to kick in his thrusters and go high to fly toward the base but although the Invid would not detect his presence as his skimmer was not Protoculture powered, they were not blind creatures and if one or more were looking up they would see him clear as day.

Helen looked and scowled at Thirteen "That I know" She said her own frustrations leaking out, "Given my choice I would prefer to travel unhindered" She mentioned only mostly referring to her Armour. She glanced up at the skimmer, "Not that stealth will help much with our little flare flying over head" She muttered under her breath eyes narrowed. "Lets get on with this the closer we get the more chance we have of being spotted" She growled to herself hefting her rifle from one shoulder to the other.

Everyone else, shut down all protoculture, and we'll wait here for a bit and give our scouts a chance to scout ahead for us."

"The rest of my Protoculture equipment is off" She said patting her vibro knife and Gallant. "Will go in unarmored but won't go in defenseless" She said simply. Checking her sniper rifle.

Thirteen turned around and nodded beginning the process of taking off his cyclone armor and leaving it organized. From the storage components of his folded up bike he takes some basic knives and places them around his body.

He then knelt and made sure to rub the mud of the area around him. He would have looked like a boy playing if he was not so calculated about it.

"Alright. I am ready to go."

Re: Spacefold

Miriana exited Nyota's bioroid, figuring her legs could use a stretch. She wasn't stupid enough to go wandering off on her own of course, but with the bioroid powered down in order not to send out a protoculture signal there was no harm in walking around it a few times. Not like she had anything better to do waiting for the recon team to return.

She took out the 'shopping list' she had had the other technicians make for her, and went through the items again. She had memorized them a while ago but figured checking to see if she got everything was still better than doing nothing or -- Masters help her -- contemplating bringing a deck of cards along on a mission like some human.

Re: Spacefold

As each team member moves into position for the respective assignment their radios come to life; "This is Thunder-cracker, we are inbound to rescue all survivors."  With that the sky is lit up with Veritechs and missile explosions.

The battle is over within an hour rescue personnel and vehicles arrive at the Vulture crash site and the UEEF base. There are fly overs of the swamp looking for anyone who may have escaped the initial attack. Though it takes a bit of work the Vulture is retrieved and taken to the Marcus Antonius for repairs.

The dead are given proper burials, and your team is finally returned to the Gambit.
