Ideally, however, we should have those positions manned by the ground squad since both of you can fly space-capable craft that could join into any combat that the shuttle sees. Especially you, Lt. Morimoto, since yours is the alpha in the alpha-beta pair docked to the shuttle itself. The Navy has thoughtfully modified this Horizon-V to allow deployment of all of our space-capable mecha from the cargo pods while we are in space; we shouldn't neglect that advantage, I think."

"Yes, I agree Lt. .... just didn't want you to think that I wasn't going to step up if asked. ...."

Epiphany leans back in her cockpit, thinking about the last bit of R&R she had, I wonder if I will exist again when or if we get back from this mission. she thinks idlely as she watches the sensors in front of her.  Folding was always a bore but she was glad to be in her Beta rather than cramped on the Vulture it's always better to be ready to rock and roll when the fold ended.  She switches on her earbuds and hangs them around her neck so that she can barely hear the music but can still hear Lt. Cerise.

Cerise heads back to her station for a bit to figure out a schedule; she notes that only 3 of the ground squad have Weapons System training, and one of them, herself, already has a station aboard the shuttle. She heads back to the bunk area.
"Ok, after reviewing everyone's training it is clear that Patterson and Ramsbottom will have primary responsibility for the weapons positions. I will be backup for those positions, Sillia, probably with help from Hart, will cover comms if I'm needed on weapons.
All members of Wraith will be prepared to fly overwatch; primary responsibility for this falls to Morimoto and Keita as their alpha-beta is the quickest to launch. Lt. Morimoto will define the tactics used by the air wing in any such engagement. He is aware that the Vulture is the only means of transportation home for all of us."

Cerise waits for any questions for a moment, but, if there are none, sets an alarm to wake her 15 minutes prior to scheduled de-fold, and gets some sleep.

  Hearing the call for quick briefing, Michelle makes her way into the bunk area. She listens carefully to Cerise and then looks over to the rest of wraith squadron. She looks are her at karma giving a slight smile then to Josie who has been extremely distant. It bothered her that her beta pilot was not even talking with her. even Aiko had been distant.

 she shrugged it off as everyone needing to get to know each other better.

  her voice soft as she asked; "Ma'am, I am ready for immediate launch. Will we be coordinating target priority with the vulture or Bushido?"

"For space combat operations, Wraith will coordinate with their commander. He will handle coordination with Vulture. That should minimize confusion an conflicting input and speed up immediate tactical decision making.
When operations shift so that we have ground and aerospace units separate from the Vulture, our dynamic will, necessarily, change. However, the same basic premise will generally apply; Lt Morimoto, Lt Thakun and Staff Sgt. Swift will bear the responsibility of both coordinating with me for strategy and inter-unit tactics and directing the tactics of their respective units. Of courses there may be occasions where an individual team member is assigned to another unit, directly to me, or even on an independent task, and in those cases such coordination will vary based on the particular situation.
As for being ready for launch; any time the front veritechs in the two pods are not on watch, Lt. Morimoto and Private Keita on watch, and vice versa; since those are the only mecha that can launch without others launching first, at least two of them should be on watch at all times.
If I recall correctly, and Patterson or Yasan can correct me if I'm wrong, Lt Cherkovski and yours, Lt Grey, are the front Veritechs in the pods."

OOC: I just made up who is in front, and I assume that Patterson and Yasan, since they are our flight deck crew, would have supervised the loading, and, so would know exactly what order they are in. :)

Iphigenia volunteers for the weapons systems, that Lt. Cerise mentioned. She needed to brush up on the systems since she has mainly worked in a hospital and figured it was a good time to familiarize herself with the systems again.

  The Vulture Defolds and the crew are instantly at it. There is nothing on the sensor out of the ordinary, no signs of anyone else in the system.

 the 12 planets orbit their sun, it takes a half day to reach the forth planet which is your goal its just a little bit larger then earth,  and its two moons are about half the size of earths.

  the vulture is in orbit doing scans over the planet, wraith squadron has set a perimeter when suddenly the collision sensors scream to life as a defolding ship appears out of nowhere right on top of the group. Wraith squadron is forced to break ranks and get the first look at the vessels emerging from space fold, three Invid Scorpion Carriers one which is about 25% larger than the others and six clam ships. Sgt. Swift takes evasive actions to get the vulture to safety. He manages to avoid a direct hit but the larger of the Scorpions legs manages to hit the vulture throwing everyone not belted down around the vessel.

  Wraith Squadron sees the Vulture hit the planets atmosphere as she fights to keep control.

  Vulture Sgt. Swift is trying to regain control. His co pilot who was standing up at the time is laying unconscious. the sirens are going crazy as the computer is trying to get damage reports.

  what do you all do?

Miriana was rudely awoken by being thrown against the wall, furtunately having been on the 'right' end to avoid literally being thrown on the bed. Gripping the guardrail, she rubbed the back of her head as her mind processed what was going on. The sirens as well as the telltale shake of the ship breaking atmo told her all she needed to know: There had been trouble, they were entering planetary atmosphere and there was damage to the ship, the latter meaning that it was her turn to step up. Jumping out of her bunk to land on the floor on hands and feet, she son scrambled to her feet.

- "So much for remaining undetected! Banshee Squadron, SCRAMBLE! If they transmit back we're here this entire mission's a write-off!"

After barking her orders to the pilots inside, she headed up to the cockpit, sparing only a glance for the unconscious co-pilot. Unconsciousness generally didn't last long and she had better things to do: Best leave him for the medics that were trained in dealing with that.

Is sitting in the cockpit of his VF/A-7B  Delta Fighter when he sees the Invid defold right on top of the Vulture.  He checks his instrument panel trying to get a bead on how close he is to the lead ship wanting to take advantage of catching them off guard with 6 medium range missiles.

Over radio he says "This is Kchek, I have visual on nine bandit's, locking target on the largest ship with medium range missiles...permission to engage target Bushido?"

He can feel the adrenalin starting to kick in as he in anticipation a reply from his commanding officer.

Cerise first activates internal comms: "All hands, we're going in. Weapons stations, please stow the main cannon for re-entry. Ms. Ramsbottom, report to the cockpit; we have an injury."

Next comms to Morimoto: "Wraith one, this is Vulture actual, Vulture is going in, please have Wraith cover our descent. If you can wipe out those clamshells before they deploy their contents; so much the better."

Seeing Thakun arrive, she calmly turns to the Lt: "Lt Thakun, Mr Swift is currently occupied with making sure the ship doesn't burn up on re-entry. If you would please head to the engineering station in the aft, I will relay damage report information to you as it becomes available."

She then turns to Hart: "Ms. Hart, if you would be so kind, please relay any incoming damage reports to the engineering station. Also relay any tactical information that you can gather on these bugs to Wraith."

Miriana gave Cerise a quick nod before making her way to the Engineering station, the combination of turbulence during reentry and simple haste causing her to bump into several people on the way there.

After getting tossed around, Doshi get to his feet, ... hearing the request on his link he replies, comms to Cherkovski " PERMISSION GRATED, .... KILLS THOSE BASTARD 'Kchek' "

As fast as possible Doshi suits up, and takes off in this Mecha.





comms to Cherkovski "Shit 'Kcheck' hold off on that, ... the Lt. gave an order be ready as soon as they clear re-entry, then let them have it!"

general comms "This is Wraith one, suited and ready for engagement, Vulture actual we have you covered and will ascend to intercept after we guard your re-entry."

squad comms "Lets go Wraith Squadron, ... Suit it up check systems and be ready to engage on my mark, ....

comm to Vulture "This is squad leader to Vulture, your re-entry is looking good no buggies on my screen for re-entry, will be engaging the enemy, ...."

You can hear the excitement in Doshi's voice its almost child-like squad comm "'Kchek' you will be flying lead today, .... I will be on your wing and will watch your back, lets see what your new mecha can do, ....."

"All others give cover fire on our 6 and 12, pair up as assigned."

Imphigenia wakes up from the slight concussion that she received from being flung across the room, she hears the intercom telling her to get to the cockpit, and that there's an injury. Even tho her head hurts, she doesn't find any blood.
She gathers herself and calmly walks fast to the cockpit.
"Ramsbottom reporting as ordered, where is the injured?"

Cerise points to the unconscious co-pilot. "Mr. Faith seems to have lost his footing in the collision."

  Sillia, slams into the door that separates her bunk for her atmospheric breathing. After shaking it off, she vents her atmosphere and climbs out of her bunk. Seeing Epiphany's dogs she gets him into her bunk and sets the atmosphere for earths and pats the glass saying; "Stay in there, like a good dog."

  With that she secures her mask before receiving orders from Lt. Thakun. She runs to the pod where her hunter killer suit is and begins to suit up.

In reply to Doshi Morimoto (msg # 41):

Kaarle listens carefully as his orders come in, he adjusts his targeting to the 6 clamshells as ordered by Cerise.  Once he gets the confirmation from Doshi he beings to smile widely in excitement.

"Roger Bushido, need to clear out the clamshells before they can unload" He suddenly takes off in pursuit in his fighter, once within the 80 mile range of his medium range missiles he begins firing at each of the 6 clam hells.

OOC: Targeting the nearest clamshell first with all 6 Smart Multiwarhead missiles from the hard points on his wings.

Using these first since until they are gone the veritech cannot change modes.

  Sgt. Swift speaks over his shoulder to Cerise; "Thank you Ma'am." then he announces over the vessels "Attention everyone, brace for impact, we are going down!"

  Specialist Gold give coordinates to multiple landing sites he believes to be the best crash location to Sgt Swift.

  Korvan is thrown about the interior with the collision, he is in the process of getting up and finding out what was going on when Lt. Thakun gave the order to scramble the squad.
  He takes over getting Banshee Squadron moving when he notices several members of the squad are seriously injured. He yells; "Medic".

    Ayla makes her way to her hover tank and begins to power it up after getting out of her bunk and making sure she was not injured.

  Kariza gets herself up and notices some minor cuts and scratches but makes her way the left cargo pod and helps to get the mecha up and going. The bumpiness of the reentry makes the job extremely difficult.

  PFC Tylor Hart - roger Ma'am, she begins trying to get the information, but its issues are intense. She passes what she gets. Passing information to Lt. Thakun. She also tells Lt. Cerise, "Ma'am we have 40% damage to the hull and right engine is near failure. The booster fold system is off-line as well as long range communications Ma'am."
  To Wraith Squadron she passes on "Wraith squadron, the Invid fleet is extremely dangerous, Unknown troop types. As they have yet to deploy.

  Iphigenia you find Sgt faith in serious condition and needs immediate help. though your not sure of how bad he is until you can get him to the medical station and check him out. Also you are receiving multiple calls for help


 Loup Phalen is bumped and tossed and about, but he gets up and heads out to follow orders.

  Nyota has a broken arm and calls for the medic as she holds her arm.

 Josh Rogers Tries to help his companions as best as he can.

 Alyssa Fields Attempts to get to her cyclone. Until she hears the order to strap in.

 Greg Brady is impaled by the leg of one of the chairs and is killed instantly.

 Joseph Manson is flipped over several times and his neck is snapped killing him.


  GM Note: if wraith squadron engages the invid they will lose the Vulture upon its reentry as they are in the process of crashing and unable to control their decent. 

Receiving the damage report, Miriana wasted little time in getting the engine back to operational status. Her reasoning was simple: The hull damage she couldn't do anything about from the inside of the Vulture and with the heat caused by atmospheric friction she wasn't about to step outside to try. They were too close to the planet to fold properly without the fold itself being affected by the planet's gravitational field, something that would cause their fold to 'bend off' and end up Nimuul knew where. And lastly, long range communications weren't necessary since that wouldn't help them one bit right now, and the secrecy of the fleet had to be maintained.

That the extra engine would help them crash a little softer, perhaps even keeping the Vulture's damage repairable was only icing on the cake.

The constant bouncing around of the craft was making it hard to get any repairs done however. Regular damage control processes appeared to be down or overloaded or burnt out -- she'd need to look at those later -- and so she started cannibalizing less critical systems for parts she could use to slap together an emergency patch so the engines would work long enough for them to land. It was probably going to do a number on the craft itself, but she'd worry about that later: For now, her main concern was making sure there'd still be a craft left to work on.

  GM Note: There is no time for Lt. Thakun to make enough repairs, before crash and get strapped in. She will have to risk her life is she is not strapped in and if she is stuck in some section of the conduits (since the engines and boosters are not part of the main body like the Horizon-t.

  Iphigenia is able to get Sgt. Faith to the medical bed and strapped down. when she hears the announcement for everyone to get strapped down.

 Sillia gets into her Hunter Killer Power Armor. then with Karisa help she straps down in the pod again.

  Sgt. Korvan orders Banshee squad members to get strapped down. before he himself gets strapped down.

  the other members (NPCs) get strapped down.


   Meanwhile Kchek's six missiles hit the clam ship and does do some serious damage. However it does not explode. Instead it and the other five clam ship open and release their content into space.

  The Invid troops over take your radars, not even the lt. "Bushido" can track the insane number being lunched. but there are now over two thousand enemy troops.
