Re: Spacefold

Iphigenia goes over to Sgt. Faith  looks him over and doesn't find any apparent injury, she does notice that he is unconscious and not responding to any form of stimuli, she needs to get a better look at his overall injuries, but she can't do that in the cockpit.

As Iphigenia is checking Sgt.faith she gets bombarded with "medic" calls. She herself starts to panic, she's the only medic and it talked some time to look over the more seriously injured.she needs some help with triage.
Iphigenia looks over at Lt. Cerise and says "Lt.  Sgt.Faith needs to be moved to the medical station now, and I need to go check the others who are injured and how serious they are,may I take two privates to help me?"

Iphigenia get to the medical station and straps herself and the other injured that happen to be in the room and braces for impact.

Doshi times the break away from escorting Vulture to the last second. As Doshi looks out to the port side of his cockpit, the re-entry is not looking to good. Regardless Doshi knows that they will need time to get themselves ready and its up to his team to give them that time. We cant let any of the clamshell make re-entry to the planet.

comm to Kaarle Ok 'Kcheck' I'm on your starboard wing, I'm switching to guns for close defense, ... anything that gets too close I got you covered. Focus on their deployment, ..... lets get close and personal partner.

Doshi is concerned about the Vulture, without it they cant get back without some serious luck on there side. And the rest of the team, on the ground with little to no air support, if these clamshells get through their sitting ducks.

In reply to Doshi Morimoto (msg # 52):

Watches in amazement as the group falls in to cover his ass, a look of determination on his face as the first of missile volley flies towards their intended target.  They land hitting the incoming carrier quite hard however not enough to destroy or disable it.  It isn't long before all of the carriers have opened their hatches and swarms of invid fill the night.

We got incoming!  Fall back don't follow me in! he basically screams into his radio as he realizes just what he's gotten himself into.

His smile has quickly faded into look of panic as he switches his Veritech into Guardian mode using the thrusters on his feet to kill his forward momentum just enough for him to flip facing the opposite direction.  Once his course is corrected he switches modes back into fighter and punches it to full speed back towards the vulture.

Re: Spacefold

Miriana had a choice. Either she would get herself strapped in and hopefully survive the crash, or she'd work on the protoculture engines and hopefully get them repaired before the ground would come up to say hi while she had not yet been strapped in.

She shook her head. The ones that were on board were Banshee Squadron, her Squadron, and she couldn't expect them to risk their asses if she wouldn't be returning the favor every once in a while. So, working on the engines it was.

17:57, Today: Miriana Thakun rolled 19 using 1d100 with rolls of 19. Protoculture Engineer (55%).

*whew*

Using this along with the Jury-Rig roll in my last post if at all possible to explain where i got the parts since i can't expect someone to bring them over anyway. But either way i wouldn't be strapped in and at least partially be in the ship's innards during landing.

Re: Spacefold

"Ms Hart, please keep us in contact with Wraith as long as possible. And, if you please, give a comms countdown prior to impact, so those of us trying to accomplish last minute tasks can attempt to strap in on time."

Cerise unbuckles herself and heads back to try to make sure any wounded (or dead) as well as any loose gear are all secured for the crash; she knows that her chance of surviving while unbuckled is much higher than anyone else's so she only enlists others' aid in this if they can reach to help while remaining secured (like to cinch down a strap within reach or the like. Her goal is to try to get herself strapped in before impact, but, at very least, to get every person, dead or alive, strapped in first.

OOC: I know this will take multiple rounds to accomplish, however re-entry takes quite a while before impact. For example a simplified calculation that assumes that the shuttle is a rectangular solid (ignoring wings) gives about 4 minutes for re-entry, assuming a totally uncontrolled (terminal velocity) re-entry. Any slowing down (say, to make the crash survivable at all) would increase this significantly.

  Al these PCs are NPCed.

Josie is thrown about in her cockpit as she begins to acquire targets before the alpha she was attached to turned from the battle and following the shuttle. She replies over the radio. "Roger that Batgirl."

Aiko follows Lt. Kchek, prepared to follow her original wingman into the jaws of death and when he suddenly turns and heads back to the shuttle. She slams her fist into her console and then follows him back to the Vulture.

Karma Murphy, She jinks and twist to avoid the collision and gets herself ready to engage a superior number when her radio comes to life with a message from her her bunk-mate and friend, Batgirl to form up with her and escort the Dropship down. She quickly confirms it and then links up with her friend.

Re: Spacefold

As Wraith Squadron turns to stay with the Vulture the largest of the Scorpion open fires with the Laser eyes of its claws hitting Rokkits Veritech dead on sending its shattered remains to rain upon her teammates and then to burn down upon the Planet.  The shock wave forces all to struggle to keep the formation, even the Vulture is forced to readjust as those inside are tossed around even more.

The Vulture descends to the planet below at an alarming rate that even wraith squadron is having a hard time keeping up with. Sgt. Swift is doing his best to keep control but the trip is bouncing the vessel around. And the shock wave causes him even more frustration forcing him to Scream over the PA system; “everyone to independent life support systems immediately!” The marines (including PCs) who are trained for this are in their CVR in a minute flat securing their visor and themselves. A prayer can be heard being made by someone, but no one is sure who is saying it and no one interrupts it as it is concluded.

Time is moving slowly inside the Vulture for all but one. For Lt. Thakun she as soon as one thing seems to be patched two more then explodes in front of her. It is only made worse when the Vessel is toss about with the shock wave causing her leg to slam into the conduit to brace herself. It is of no real use, for her until she can power down the ship and truly get in there with some help to figure out the damage. But the stubbornness to her duty kept her working through it.

Finally the doors between each section seal shut signaling the impending last moment, cutting those off who are not together. PFC Hart begins count down at the one minute mark announcing for those still out of the landing seat (these are the same as the Horizon-T’s in the neck), again it seems like an eternity as she counts down.  10…….. 9……. Crash…… Positions……. 7….. 6….. 5……. 4……. Brace fo…. R impact…..

Wraith Squadron can only watch as the Vulture slams into the mud and water of the marsh that comes up way to quick. Spraying mud, water and flora in every direction destroying trees and large growth as it makes final contact. They too are forced to switch to guarding modes to finally slow their own decent and will have to spin back around to regroup.

Those who are inside hear the sound of the metal of the hull scraping on the trees and the slamming of metal on metal along with a young woman’s scream right at the moment of impact. The lights flicker on and off for a few seconds before it goes dark for the minute before the emergency lighting kicks in leaving everything in a red glow. For those who only have cyclones sighed a breath of fresh air as they seem to have stayed in the storage above their heads.

Cerise you look around at the bridge and see the damage, and while you are not sure of how bad it is, you can clearly see the floor panels and some of the consoles misshaped about you. your crew while not dead are not unscathed. Sgt. Swift looks as if he is still trying to land the dropship with wide eyes and a death grip on his controls.

Sillia is alone in the Cargo pod in her HKB armor secured in its containment area. Unable to do anything.

Lt. Thukan is thrown about the engine compartment.as the ship hits hard.

Korvan is the first to bark out “ROLL CALL MARINES!”

GM Note: the Doors are still secured shut.

Re: Spacefold

When the call is made to get into independent life support, Cerise puts her CVR-3 on over her EBA-04s.

OOC: I'm assuming that most of the bridge crew also suited up, the exception being Swift, who was kinda busy trying to keep us from dying.

GM Note: The Bridge Crew has EBA-04 suits and place on helmets. No they could not suit up in CVR armor.

OOC: Ok, thanks for the clarification, added a bit to the orders I'm giving them.

Cerise hands Swift his helmet and addresses the bridge crew: "Ok, everyone, we're not out of the weald yet. Let's do everything we can to make Lt. Thakun's job easier. Swift and Gold, try to get as much information about our damage as you can. Hart, I want you to see if we still have any sort of sensors and monitor them; as you can, also try to pull up info we got when we started scanning the planet; any information may be useful. I'm going to go see if the mechs in the pods can be deployed. Anyone who leaves the bridge needs to suit up in CVR-3 or equivalent, just in case the bugs show up."

Cerise heads into the compartment, and see if either of the bridges to the pods can be deployed, while she listens in on the roll call by the marines. As they finish Cerise speaks up: "Mr Korvan, if you would please send someone to check on Lt. Thakun; take her helmet with you so she can get an enviro-seal."

Re: Spacefold

Miriana kept working on the conduit through the turbulence and the trembling, not wanting to give up. She didn't care what eploded, for all she cared all of the conduits could blow, but those engines needed to get up. When she knew time was running out she jumped out of the wiring and moved to brace herself, better to get flung about than to end up 'eating Gs' in the middle of wiring. She had seen what wires could do to someone during a crash, it had taken the Engineer's head clean off. And the blood then shorted out several other systems. She didn't feel much for having a limb ripped off by getting caught in some cabling however, and so she grabbed on to something solid as far away from the walls as possible. Too close to the walls and the impact could very well break her back, another less than stellar result.

When the Vulture 'touched' down she lost her grip and was flung against the wall, but she had gained half a second to brace for the impact. She couldn't do much about it, but at least she had been prepared. The worst of it over, she rode out the remainder lying on the floor, her face bleeding from having bitten her lip when she had hit the wall, but a quick check told her that even though she was feeling sore all over, she hadn't actually broken anything. Good, mission accomplished. She could hear Korvan shouting too. Heh, the Masters sure knew what they had been doing, Zentraedi were built tough. She reached for her communicator.

- "This is Thakun... Was in the engine compartment when we crashed... Wasn't strapped in either, kept trying to get the engines up. I'm fine, but i hit the wall pretty bad. Need a few minutes to catch my breath."

Her voice was a bit strained, but she sounded okay, short of being a little out of breath as she had already mentioned as heard in the slight pauses between sentences. She took a deep sigh and rolled onto her back, letting the coolness of the metal plating seek into her aching muscles.

20:40, Today: Miriana Thakun rolled 19 using 5d6 with rolls of 6,6,1,1,5.

Korvan replies to Cerise's order with; "PFC Phalen, take the Lt. helmet to her and check up on her in engineering."

He looks around for those he did not hear reply; "Where is PFC Sillia and Cpl. Winters?"

it is Kariza who replies to his inquiry; "they were in the pods Sargent."

With that both Korvan and Kariza follow lt. Cerise to the pods what they find there is the hover tank slammed into the front pod door with blood pouring out on the floor. Kariza helps to free Sillia from the HKB containment straps. the rear door shows the all clear. but will open the pod to the out door atmosphere once it does.

Loup enters the engine compartment, seeing Lt. Thakun he ask; "Are you ok LT? he hands her, her CVR-3s Helmet. "Orders of Lt. Cerise, we are securing the ship in case we have issues. Are you sure your Ok ma'am?"

Iphigenia you check on the unconcious co-pilot straped to the med bed. You give him a more through ex-amen and find several right ribs broken. while he is not awake he will live.   +

Wraith Squadron, as you return to the vulture you are forced to stay low as your radar see the Invid fly past over head. though it feels like they are totally ignoring your group and are focused on something north of your group.

Miriana accepted the helmet and put it on as she replied, her voice already taking less effort to maintain.

- "A little banged up, but I'm fine. What's our status, how many does Banshee Squadron have operational?"

Adjusting the strap, she switched on the group radio to talk to everyone in the Vulture at once -- those that were wearing their helmets anyway.

- "We're not out of the woods yet people, I want everyone in flying condition running patrols, we need to secure this perimeter and we need to do it now! *cough* Wraith aren't the only ones that saw us go down and the clams are around in far greater numbers."

She climbed to her feet, looking around to see where her satchel of tools had ended up, hopefully most of its contents had survived as well.

- "In the meantime I'll try to get us flying again."

Covering Kaarle's wing is no easy task, 'Kchek' is a really good pilot. Keeping up with him is tougher then it seems.

As Doshi looks at hundreds and thousands of Invid troops being dropped, be begins to have a flash back of his first encounter with the Invid. In his head he can hear the screams of his first squad, .... call sign 'M'Lady' 28 Invid roaches surround her, and she releases everything she's got, ... now out of ammo, .... she tries to clear the field for a quick get away, ... one roach comes from behind her out of the smoke, .... at short range the shit releases on her blind side, ..... Doshi looked into her eyes, ... she and he know it was over.

general comm "Kchek!" there's just to many, ....

As Kaarle switches to Guardian mode, Doshi hesitated just a extra second so the when he does the same maneuver, he turns to take the rear (at this point its almost as if they are facing each other and shouting over each others should, .... firing in opposite directions) Doshi continues to covers 'Kchek's' back side, NO roaches are going to take out my team this time.

general comm I'm your wing man and I'm not leaving you!, ....

AS 'Kchek', flips back to fighter mode 'Bushido' does the same and stays at his wing, .... full speed back to the vulture.

Replying to 'Batgirl's' request vulture comm "Batgirl this is 'Bushido', we have over 2,000 enemy troops being deployed, this is a no win combat zone, I repeat a no win combat zone."

Doshi looks out the port side of his cockpit and watches the scattered fragments, and destroyed wreckage break the outer atmosphere leaving streaks as they burn up on re-entry.

Doshi hears the count
10…….. 9……. Crash…… Positions……. 7….. 6….. 5……. 4……. Brace fo…. R impact…..

Bushido feeling that the thick of it is over, at least for just a few seconds, general comm "Kchek, break away and take a quick circle around the perimeter of the crash sight, Lets make sure we were not followed. Then take a defense position to allow the vulture to deploy ground squad and start repairs. Don't forget stay low, out of sight and use stealth, lets not attract any unneeded attention."

Re: Spacefold

With the mecha spilling out of the Vulture and the distinct lack of gunfire telling her that there was no enemy presence in the area, Miriana decided to first make a list of what was broken before making a list of what to repair and in what order. Holding her thankfully still usable datapad -- with a large crack running along the screen from the crash -- she started surveying the exterior of the ship first, assisting Banshee with setting up a defensive perimeter based on what she knew of fortification.

She was met with mixed results. The datapad was pretty much shot, the display was still working but trying to type anything was an exercise in futility due to the damaged touchscreen. She would need to get a replacement and transfer her files to the other one later. Since the Vulture wasn't going anywhere anytime soon however, her advice along with the scavenged materials of parts of the hull that fell off during the crash made it so that it could resist enemy fire more efficiently acting as Banshee's temporary Field HQ.
