The Marcus Antinious

A short thirty minutes later you find yourselves on the flight deck of the Marcus Antonius and given the quick rundown of the ship rules. You are walked to the small township of the colonist. It’s about the size of a medium shopping mall that is three stories high with open floor space to allow those to look up or down to the other levels.  At the far end of the area, the entry to the Soldiers Hotel.

The Ground floor; The center of the ground floor level had a small skating ring. An arcade, martial arts/dance studio,  and a bunch of play activities for all ages;

The second floor; held shops and several service shops to get various luxury services such as ones nails, hair and even massages which are available all hours of the day. There are clothing boutiques, shoe store, computer store.

The Third floor; More shops and restaurants occupy the third floor along with the ships small three auditorium movie theater. The ceiling had a replicated natural sky which at this time was showing mid-morning.

GM Note: if its in a mall then its likely to be here.

Aravae - She gives a little giggle at Cerise's jest. "Your funny." she replies back to Cerise. Again she giggles with an obvious smile at Thirteen as remained latched onto him as he tells the group how the military provides everything.

The Transport Lands and you are informed you have till 2000 hours (8pm) for your return trip is scheduled back. That effectively gives you eleven hours of play. Your military ideas are your cash cards.

Hearing the Commits about clothing shopping, Michelle grins. "I'd like a chance to go to the shops and get a couple outfits as well if aloud"  She then looks at Kaarle; "Would it be okay if i take a couple of minutes to sign up for my belly dance classes while we are here today sir? Would you like to take a couple dance class with me?" She looks at the others in the group. "What do you say girls, want to learn how to belly dance with me. I hear the instructor is a seamstress a makes the outfits herself." She say hopeful.

Cerise, after seeing everyone head out to enjoy themselves, begins looking around. She wants to identify a place for lunch, as well as a safe place to do the exercises she has planned, plus people watching and exploring the unfamiliar area are what she does for fun.
As she wanders through the shops, she will stop in any that seems to sell crystals or jewelry, and see if anything catches her eye.

She figures that the team needs the morning, at least, without her authority casting a shadow over it; maybe later she can tag along with the others without totally bringing them down; she'll have to call that one by ear.

Silas Being dressed in a uniform made it a little obvious that he was not much for shopping of any kind. He decided to hang back a little bit from the rest of the squad, knowing that he had not made any brownie points for apologizing to everybody for his behavior the day before. Granted he know knew how far he could push the squad, but to what point was it if he was unable to make any friends. He has lived a life of solitude  not that he minded it, but every once in a while he would like some sort of companionship. He missed his family, but fighting to revenge their deaths was the best he could do and will do till his own death if need be.

He knew he shouldn't be reminiscing about his past as they were walking, because he soon noticed that the squad had disappeared, and again he was all alone standing in the middle of the floor, wondering what to do.

Skyrah just stood there near Mirage looking at everyone do there thing. She didn't seem to show any feeling one way or another towards everything. Though a small grumble was heard from her when Mirage mentioned her not having any civilian clothing. "I had plenty when I was little. I see no need for them now." She said as if in rebuttal to Mirage's statement.

Michelle understood where the other stood with the lack of need for extras. Infact her own were very personal and something she only just shared with Kaarle. She smiled at Kaarle suggestion. "Skyrah we all need civilian clothing. Thirteen will need some outfits as well. you should join with me in dance."

Hearing Xavier talking to Sillia brought a giigle from Michelle as she looked and thought about what was said. It was true she clung to Thirteen much like she did with Kaarle. "Aravae I will pay for your classes if you would like to learn As well."

With that she stands her full height, still holding Kaarle's Hand. A she addressed the group. "This is suppose to be a group activity today. For team building exercises."

OOC: For the exercises, I was hoping for somewhere more like a park or public square, but lightly trafficked; a conference room is too sterile and flat, plus might be a little too restrictive space-wise.

Cerise replies to Michelle; "I will catch up in a bit; I need to make some arrangements first. Which dance studio will you be at?"

Cerise makes a reservation for everyone for lunch at a pizza restaurant; she knows it is a human favorite, and that it is something many people consume when off duty.

She also makes note of the best place she finds, as well as a couple backups, where the crew can do a little bit of trust work.

She holds off on the jewelry stores for now, and heads to the dance studio, to see what has got Michelle so excited.

@ Cerise - There is a small park in the center of the area next to the mall. With three small trees and grass. Which would allow your team the room needed.

The Dance studio is a mix of Martial arts and dance studio. Located on the ground floor. When you arrive there are two instructors, A man and woman in their mid thirties. She is also a seamstress who make all the classes uniforms and costumes. The Belly dance class is twice a week friday and monday last class of the day.

Aravae offered no resistance as she was taken with the group as she fought back her tears.

She grumbles again. "Alright, we will go shopping for clothes then." She obviously saw the tactical futility of continuing the debate so she surrendered.

Then she looked at Michelle. "But I will not go dancing, or take dancing lessons with you. Alright?" Her tone was flat and even, as if indirectly saying that that is not up for debate.

Then she looked at Mirage for a moment. "I know what I fight for." She said softly, it was the first time she actually showed emotion. Her tone wasn't flat, emotionless, or calculating like normal. No, when she said that line, it was full of soul, compassion.

And it allows me to fly. I do not have a choice." A smile returns as she continues "But i get to be with Kaarle and I only met him because I chose to fly." she then pushes skyrah
"so why do you fight Skyrah"
She she tries on several outfits with the girls she continues speaking over the privacy barriers. thaking the conversation back to something fun "Besides boys though, Dancing is suppose to make you a better fighter."

She like Mirage and hoped she could help get Skyrah out of her shell.

Perhaps you can play music while the others practice dancing."
When the topic changed to the fighting she tried to lighten it up and keep the days spirits high. "I chose to join to see the Galaxy, new worlds and make new friends. Something I am proud to say I have done well so far. Perhaps when all is done with this tour we can consider each other as friends as well."

@ Silas - "Don' mind Xaviers clothing. Ever since he discovered comics he has tried to replicate their images. He thinks they were what represented the human race before the war. He even took his name from one of the Comics he likes to read." She even hands him a set of none military cargo pants and several different colored t-shirs.

She smiles at some of the outfits she found for Aravae. She was not sure who she felt worse for. Her little sister or Thirteen. She Knew Aravae would not be able to break through the kids shell. but she hoped she could help give him back something before he dies in one of the many battles.

@ The Clothes Buying Group

Skyrah looks at all the clothes handed to her by Mirage, then at the others. "You all are enjoying this way to much." She says flatly.

"I am not taking dancing lessons, I'll watch you lot do it but I have a line to draw and thats it. I'll even draw you a picture of what you look like doing it." She said. Still she had no interest in dancing. Though at the mention of Nick, she did turn a little red. "If he wants me to dance, he can teach me. Plus...it leaves something for him to do with me since we're both always busy." Yup, there's that tactical mindset working again.

"As to what I fight for. Them." She points to all the civilians. "On Earth there are hundreds of millions more. If we do not take it back, we won't survive another few generations. I fight for love, music, art, culture. I fight for choice. I fight for a fathers love, even if I only hear it over a communicator as I am dieing. I fight for each and every one of you, to make sure you all get home alive. I fight.....for Nick too." She said softly. "I do not fight because I have to, because I am ordered to. I choose to remain here. When they put all of that tactical knowledge in my head, I must of formulated at least one hundred plans to leave this and never be seen again. I didn't do any of them though, and chose to stay, for everyone." She then leaves it at that, with a genuine heart felt smile, and a small nod, as she wanders into the changing room to try on the cloths.

Ladies, LADIES!
He says trying to get their attention.
How about we find myself some nice cloths to wear before you decide to go to a jewelry store. The cargo shorts that Sillia handed me are good but I don't like the way these shirts feel, should I just go shirtless? He says as he takes his shirt off in front of them. Showing off all of the piercings and tattoos he has on his upper body. I do need some new jewels, maybe one of you ladies could help me pick something new out.

Xavier with thirteen in tow, made it to what he thought was a promising store to shop for some cloths for thirteen.

He grabbed a couple pairs of pants and a couple shirts as well as s couple pairs of shorts and handed them to thirteen. Kid, the dressing rooms are over there, go try those on, if they fit will just go ahead and get them if not well you get to try some more on.

Xavier also grabbed some things and tried them on.

It reminded her of home which she was missing now that she felt alone. She secretly hoped this would help turn Thirteens eyes in the way she desired. There was something about him she really like. And despite their species being different she was wanted to be with him all the time.

Skyrah tried not to react to Michelle's hug, but she did seem to relax, which is a reaction in of itself. "We have to look at the bigger picture of our situation, and find the reasons to fight and succeed." She explained to Michelle, hoping Michelle understood what she was trying to say. "When we do that, then us, the one's like you and me, can't fail."

Then she managed a small smile. "I am far from the perfect soldier. There are so many things I have did wrong. Choices that should have gotten me punished." Then she smirked. "As to an order to take a dance class, that's an order I'd violate."

She just looked to Silas and rolled her eyes. He was up to his antics again.

She goes and changes into one of the outfits Mirage picked out for her, and after awhile she comes out wearing it. "Well?"

Arriving on the Antonius, he was perplexed on this forced attempt at unit cohesiveness.

Yes, there were some dubious actions performed by some of the unit members during the prior mission. Kaarle's little meeting addressed these actions despite his colorful human metaphors which were lost on him.

Frankly, he would rather be back on the Gambit working on his pet magical project & check on the progress of his armor being enchanted by his fellow perytonians.

How would they know they achieved harmony? A test when they went back?, he thought to himself.

He went to his room and settled in.

@ Michelle

"That's the beginning." Skyrah said in regards to being a better fighter. "But it is also about finding that one thing you care about the most that society gives you, and everyone else, and protecting it too. IT doesn't mean lose sight of our own plight though, it just means right now this fight is more important." It seems Skyrah has thought all of this out.

"Under the right circumstances, I guess." She said with a small shrug, in referance to what Michelle said about the outfit.

@ Mirage

"Cute?" Skyrah says flatly. "It's not like it is hard to buy the right size for me. I am the smallest person here out of all of us. I'm only 5 foot tall and I'll likely not ever get any bigger. You're practically buying for a child."

"Yes, well, you ask command you'd swear they want the one's like me and Batgirl to be like machines in the field." Then she looked at Michelle a moment. "However if I were like a machine, as command wanted, she would not be here right now and likely neither would Kchek. A machine only looks at the immediate moment, and orders. I looked at that, and at command's orders for her, how they would affect him, how that loss would affect Vulture Group as a whole, weighed the morale effect of it all and used a hole in the orders to save everyone. If presented with the same situation again, I would make the same choice. The only difference being, I'd take her punishment for her." She just put some depth into how she forms her plans, hoping now that maybe Mirage understood why Skyrah adapted the simulator plan the way she did.

In reply to Gargoyle (msg # 78):

Kaarle shrugs at Korvan's comment's... "maybe it is a waste of time" he said in mock sympathy before speaking further on the subject. "however we should enjoy this time to waste while we have it... soon enough there will be fighting... there will be dying... and day dreaming about day's like this may well be all we have left before the end..." he said to him as he dropped a credit into one of the arcade games and started playing without bothering to look at him.

"This is your time Korvan, use it as you see fit since come tomorrow that time may never come again" he said as he moved his pac-man around the screen trying to gobble up all the dots and winning the round.  "as long as you know where and when to be, make the most of this trip, that's an order" he said with a smirk as he flashed him a look that read quit being so serious.

It wasn't that he wanted to be this person but he honestly felt there was a huge disconnect between the reality of their current situation and what Korvan and the others were experiencing.

Today was a chance to relax, they needed for their own sake to make the most of it.

Once everyone has gathered at the park, Cerise explains the trust-exercise she's planned; "We will pair off in twos, generally someone from Wraith with someone from Banshee, so that we're in a mixed group. Then half of us will be blind-folded, while the other half is not. It will be the duty of those without blindfolds to lead those with blindfolds around, but by using communications only. The objective will be to guide your partner around a circuit of the park. Remember to warn them of any hazards.
Then we'll switch roles.

I will happily volunteer to be blindfolded first; Skyrah, why don't you be my partner for this exercise?"

OOC: I'm not sure if we have even numbers or even close to the same in the two groups, but I guess Aravae could make the number even, if needed, and both her and Severian could act as Wraiths or Banshees, if necessary to make it work out.

Your group is given free range of the park for the hour with the GMPs watching and commenting on the sides non of them in armor. While she does not Actually do anything to hinder the exercise, Aravae sits on the grass under the tree with all the bags. and extras no one wants to hold onto. So i thought maybe you would like to have a token of my affection like the Knights of old." She says with a sexy smile.

When she is paired up with Thirteen she smiles giving him the once over; "I see someone has decided to join the world away from NERV. You look good. Did you do this for you or because you were told to?"

Once he has replied and They are ordered to blindfold one of the partners she volunteers to go first. And turns and lets him blindfold her. "So how long have you two been dating?" She ask referring to Aravae.

"It's not that I do not think you trust me. If that were the case then you would not have trusted my tactical plan in getting us out of that ship." She explained. "I just simply think you do not care about me beyond my purpose." There was that emotionless tone. She had started to perk up a bit but then something drove her to emotionless once more. "There is a difference between trust, and caring and compassion. Yes, one can strengthen the other, however you can have one without the other." Then she looked at everyone gathered. "I trust everyone here to do what they are qualified to do. I even trust some of them to go beyond what they are qualified to do and try to do more. And I hope, and pray, that each and every one of them would trust in me to make a plan to ensure all of us makes it home. Because I promised the Commander I would, or I would die trying. I might argue with a lot of you, debate tactics, see the traps before many do, but I do it because because you all are all I got. Sure, I have a mother and father, but lets be honest they are a figment." She pointed at everyone gathered. "You all are my family. Brothers, sisters. I would rather take the punishment for..." She looked at Michelle when she said that. "...or the bullet for..." She looked at Mirage, considering the argument they had before. "...than see you take it. That goes for everyone, and that's how it should be." She was starting to get a bit emotional as she spoke, which was very strange for the normally emotionless, calm, calculating woman.

"I'm sorry..." She pursed her lips for a moment, and even though she was completely sober, and her face was still emotionless, her eyes told them everything. Told them just how hurting she was. "...I need, a few minutes, please. Then we can do this." She didn't leave, but if permission was allowed she would go over to one of the tree's alone for a few moments.

What about my dreams, wishes, desires? Michelle's? Thirteen's? When I said what I said out there, it just made me remember..." She said nothing more, because she didn't want to feel that pain again, which only made her feel all the more sad.

Eventually, she gave up, and decided to not listen to her, and pulled out the beautiful glass flute with the gorgeous golden dragon inlays along it and began playing. The song was full of more emotion than she ever displays in an entire week, and full of sadness.

Aravae was not sure how to handle Skyrah rejection to the endorphin rush. She thought of an option and then decided to against it. When Skyrah started to play she listen and commented that it sounded pretty before returning to her spot to watch Thirteen.

When Michelle brought Thirteen near she cheered him on. And while shocked at Michelle's initial statement, she smiled and rushed over to the pair. "I promise to nice to him, Michelle."

She ask seeking his approval.  She reaches into her bag and pulls out a lavender scarf handing it to him. "You said Lavender was your favorite color Sir. So i thought maybe you would like to have a token of my affection like the Knights of old." She says with a sexy smile.

Kaarle smiles and nods approvingly... "Looks great on you" he says before they are paired off.

He pairs up with Miriana for the exercise and follows Cerise's lead.

Since Cerise is not blindfolded, while she waits for Skyrah, she takes the opportunity to cheer on her unit. Instead of focusing on the blindfolded ones, though, she cheers on the ones without the blindfold, giving "great job!" and "nice one!" when they navigate something particularly difficult, and "it's ok, you can do it" and "you'll get them past that the next time" when the blindfolded person stumbles.

When they reach the others and Michelle declares the task complete he removes the blindfold. When Michelle asked Avarae to be nice to him Thirteen turned his gave towards Kaarle. The look on his face made it clear that he was asking the same thing to him, although without words.

He looked back towards Aravae. "Thank you for cheering." He said in an almost shy tone of voice.

After Cerise and Skyrah are finished, Cerise heads straight to the pizza place. She's quite happy to see how much everyone seems to be enjoying the pizza. It must be like particularly radiant bright white sunlight, she figures.

Since she was asked, she does go and sign up for dance lessons. She's not too certain how well she'll be able to perform, since she is so bio-mechanically different from their typical clientèle, but she'll give it a try.

For the afternoon exercise, she picks a tree in the park with no low-hanging branches, and the goal is for everyone to work as a team and get everyone up to branches that support them.

At the jewelry store Cerise has a private consultation with the jeweler.

Kaarle You, like Thirteen are able to watch the Martial arts class and the girls as they are being fitted and given their demo class. You notice Michelle smiling the entire time.

Group Cerise takes you to the Jewelry shop. there are all kinds of jewelry. small stones and specialty things you find in a high end jewelry store.

Two hours later you meet up again at the park for the next Planned exercise Cerise has planned. You climb the trees as a group. Before assisting each other back down taking a different order and going back up.

Aravae sits with your bags and watches from the grass spot she had chosen and again acts like a cheerleader for the group.

"It's because it's not combat Thirteen. It's dancing. It is meant for personal enjoyment, or enjoyment with someone close to you that you like." Skyrah said idly, as she was drawing in a page in her sketchbook, waiting for the lessons to end. It seemed she was cultured, at least enough to know what dancing was.

Re: The Marcus Antinious

The real challenge is getting Cerise up; she's heavy and, despite her having some practice at it, her people are not natural climbers at all. Furthermore the lowest branch that will support anyone's weight is well out of even her reach, and the lowest branch that will support her weight is even farther. Still, with plenty of teamwork everyone manages.

After everyone is back down, Cerise addresses the group; "Let's do our debrief now, so that everyone can go about down time until we have to return. Did everyone have some fun? That was job one on this mission. If you haven't yet, you need to make certain that you accomplish it during the little bit of time we have remaining.
Does anyone have any comments or observations about the team building exercises? I certainly feel like I've gotten to know each of you better as a result of spending this time together."

Re: The Marcus Antinious

@ Thirteen

She considered for a moment on how to explain Martial Arts to Thirteen. Then she nodded once. "The big part of martial arts is not the techniques you learn." She explained. "It's the discipline you learn. As well as other skills that are completely unrelated to combat, but can help you in combat or even life." She continued, almost as if she was teaching a little brother something. "And no, dancing is not just exercise. Like I said, it's meant for fun. It's also meant for something to do with someone you care about."

@ Cerise's Debriefing

"This was a more a morale building exercise, which can also be a team building exercise." She explained, more to Korvan then anyone. "The more we learn about one another, and understand one another and makes each other tick the better it is to deal with one another and in turn work with one another." She explained. It would appear Skyrah had similar idea's on morale and team building, at least to some extent. "However, forcing someone to spend all of their downtime with the entire team can also be damaging to morale, which can be damaging to a team. The reason is, the exercises feel forced upon you at that time. The taking of free time from people is a military punishment, and to force them to spend all downtime together would be seen by most as a punishment. This exercise, overall was a good idea."

Then she considered something for a moment. "Since part of this exercise was to learn about one another. And we're all together, for the moment, I'm going to ask everyone what I asked Cerise, and she didn't answer yet. Let's see what everyone answers, then I will give the correct answer." She explained. Then she held up her satchel, which held her drawing tablet and supplies, as well as had her flute case strapped to it. She held it in everyone's view. "When you all see these, what do you see?"

"Thats none of our business what's in your hand.  Beyond that unless you choose to share in your privacy it shouldnt be anyone's concern what's in the bag" he says as looks from Skyrah to Michele then the rest of the group.

"We all have things that we like to keep private, and we should all respect that need for privacy by our comrades.  If they wish to share its one thing..." He said to Skyrah as much as everyone else

Throughout the entire event, Miriana remained on the background, not interacting with the others beyond the absolute necessary and, were one to describe her demeanor, it would be 'analytical'. She knew little of these social encounters and had virtually no experience with them, even back on the ship she rarely remained in the mess hall for more than five minutes outside of meals. While she had at the very least tried to look the part of being off duty, the fact remained that the only thing that would be missing was a clipboard under her arm to write down her findings.

She did sign up for the martial arts classes though.

Skyrah just smiles softly to Thirteen as he says that about the practice, and says nothing more unless he does.

@ Briefing

"Well sir, that's part of the problem you have with interacting with us GenKids." She said emotionlessly to Kchek, with regards to his answer. "I asked a simple question. What you saw in the items I held up. The question was a metaphorical question that's purpose was twofold. The first was meant to elicit a response of any type from each of you, which would allow me to read you and learn about you. The second was a bit of a continuation of her exercise to allow you to learn a little bit more about me." The last sentence she said pointing at Cerise. "So humor me, by allowing me 5 minutes to open up more. I never do this, and am not so great at it."

"Your response was one of defensiveness towards my privacy, and myself. Which I respect, and thank you very much for. That response told me a lot about you." She said with a small smile. "IT told me that behind that tough gruff exterior you are a big softy willing to defend those around you and those you respect."

She then giggled a bit at Sillia's answer. It was good to see Skyrah giggle, and open up. "I love the way you think. So, simple and to the point. You don't beat around the bush do you? Straight from A to B. I like that." Then she smiled. "No it's not my purse though. It's a bit more...complicated."

She then looked towards Xavier. "Simple. Whatever response you feel to give to the question." She explained.

Then she looked towards everyone. "Thirteen hit the nail the closest to the head, when he was talking to Aravae. He told her to listen to my music, and that was how I was telling everyone how I felt. He was right." She explained, then paused, thinking about what to say next. "What's in my hand here is not private. I am. I don't hide it, I hide me. I could not hide me today, because I had no idea where to go. So I walked away, and closed myself off to the world around me, and played my soul and showed my emotions. What's in this satchel, and the box attached to it, is my soul. My past. My dreams. My emotions." She then looked towards Kchek and Sue, and finally towards everyone else. "If you want to know how I feel, find me and just listen to the sound of the music. If you want to learn my past, just ask to look at one of my numbered drawing tablets."

"....anyway...I'll shut up now. Let everyone go do what they want...  Sorry." She said quietly to everyone as she nodded once, then quieted up. Not saying anything more and returning to her normal cold calculating self. She was trying to open up to everyone, and felt like she failed at it.

Aravae stayed quite as she watched the interaction of the debriefing as she was not really part of this function of the group. But she felt a bit of sorrow for Skyrah, it seem like something inside her kept beating her down and she already knew the answer. And when she looked at the other two like her she felt the same energy from them. She smiled and tried to fake her smile.

She looks at Kaarle for a moment then turns back to the others; "I know what Thirteen, Skyrah and myself really are. We are slaves. Like the Zentraedi before us with the Masters." Her face begins to twist in pain as she talks. "We are designed for war, and we are meant to die in serves of the UEEF fleet. Unlike the rest of this group we cannot quit since we did not volunteer to serve." she has tears in her eyes now from the pain. "I have embarrassed what I am. And what will be my fate. I have found something that has made it worth it in the End." with that she steps behind Kaarle hiding her face while she tried to breath and get the pain to stop hurting so bad. Fighting back the urge to cry, she whisper behind him "please Sir can we go home now?"

- "Sue, I actually have a question about today's assignment. For the sake of team morale however, would you mind if we discuss this in private once we are back on the ship?"

From her formal tone -- even addressing Cerise by her callsign rather than her name -- it didn't take much effort to see that she was annoyed about something. Something that, given that she mentioned her question to be bad for morale and wanted to discuss it in private, would most likely involve their visit to the Marcus Antinious, and she did not want to question her choices in public.
