Re: Chapter 1: Giant-Sized Problems
For reasons of both personal attachment and mutual security, it was rare for Claissa to be apart from Niri, her tiger. This presented problems in places like crowded inns, of course, so when Claissa had arrived last night, she'd settled on paying for some sleeping space in the loft of the stable while Niri bunked with the other animals. Even that didn't always go over well, but Claissa was good at getting people to see things her way when she put her mind to it.
The young sorceress had gotten up early to pick up some breakfast to eat with Niri, as she didn't plan on lingering long. The inn was a waypoint for bigger things to see. She was standing at the counter, already cleaned up and dressed for travel, when she heard the thumps that were soon followed by the rock crashing into the inn. Claissa jumped a little in place at that, considering she couldn't help but be surprised, but her thoughts quickly turned practical. She rushed out the door to where Niri was waiting and gestured for her to come to her, as she moved to the far side of the inn. Whatever was happening here, unless the building was surrounded, it would be better for her if that building was between her and whatever was causing these rocks to be airborne.
