Re: The Tavern Brevage Noir
"The Comte de Orville does not dress as you are dressed this night. Which is why I suggested you were disguising your station, not yourself." Gaunoux said.

"As far as my name, I am not acclaimed as no doubt as are you two gentlemen. Though in places such as this I dare say my name does catty a certain cashe. I am Jean Michel Gaunoux. Suffice it to say that as I was not born with the same resouces as yourselves. So I would venture I have led a more practical and pragmatic life than you two gentlemen."

Re: The Tavern Brevage Noir
M'lord Comte de Orville, Monsieur Jean Michel Gaunoux; It is an honour and a pleasure to make your acquaintance; I am Piere De Vilfor... Indeed it does appear the Archduke has considerable knowledge of our movements. he hands the goblet to Jean. Wiggling it a little to prompting him to accept it, if he doesn't Pier will hand it to someone else in the tavern.

I thay Monsieur Gaunoux, you certainly have a keen eye; however to put into perspective any misconception, you may have formed. Ones attired is simply such One assumed suitable to this establishment. Would you not agree pausing he held out his hands palm upward in a manner seeking comment

If you please One would prefer a wine from the Lyonnais Province; for it has an excellence which those in Bordeaux are yet to emulate.

Re: The Tavern Brevage Noir
Jean Michel was just about to say something to M. De Vilfor when the new comer interrupted. Even queerer, the Archduke had managed to make four men, at least four men, into the same tavern on the same night so they could be given the notes.

"Interesting." Gaunoux said to the newcomer.

"M. Dupree was it?"

"We were just discussing what if anything we might known about the gentleman who seems to have brought us together."

"I was also planning on being at the designated place at the designated time. At this point I am as motivated by curiosity as a desire for reward." Gaunoux said.

"But if any of us have any knowledge of the man it might be useful to share it now. Best we be prepared in case this is a trap of some kind."

Re: The Tavern Brevage Noir
I am doubt it is a trap. The Archduke is a powerful man, if he wanted either of you, indicating Michael and Renee He simply would contact friends at the ministery of Justice arrest you on false or perhaps true charges. Myself and Duc Pior are protected by the shield of our station, but he could put us in such disfavor that our lives would be extremely difficult.
Sipping from the hideaos hous concoction.

More likely, it is some task that he does not wish to be associated with, but needs certain doors opened that only myself or the Duc can open.

Re: The Tavern Brevage Noir
Gaston had entered the tavern late and after recieving his letter had at first read it alone. However the young Musketeer sergeant could not help but notice others had seemingly recieved the same missive. He strode over to join them.

"Gentlemen forgive me for interrupting but I believe we have the same would-be-patron. I am Sergeant Gaston Laroque of the Musketeers and his Grace the Archduke has asked me to meet him." If invited to sit he did so and gave the others a querying look. "Do you have any notion what all this is about?"

Re: The Tavern Brevage Noir
The slightly built Gaunoux laughed and shook his head in slight disbelief. "That does it. I am beginning to believe this is nothing but an elaborate joke."

"But assuming it is not, we have been discussing it. We, like you received this same note I believe. We are also unsure why it is he has summoned us. But the Count ventures that he needs us to accomplish some task. He is evidently a powerful man and according to the Count could have any but a noble jailed or worse."

"Given the eclectic nature those gathered here, it would seem what ever task he has in mind is rather elaborate and probably dangerous." Jean Michel patted his rapier.

"Ah but Sergent, please forgive me I am being rude."

"I am M. Gaunoux. Jean Michel to my friends."

Pointing to one of the others "The Comte de Orville." The man was not dressed like a Count, but dressing down to come to a place like this made sense. Then to another, this one well over six feet. also dressed in fairly common clothes "The Duke De Lyonnais." And to the last of the four assembled " Finally is M. Renee Dupree."

"Until this meeting, we were all strangers. I guess a welcome is in order."

The assembled men chatted on for a bit, but as the hour was already late and the next morning would be upon them sooner then they might wish after a few more drinks most decided to head home.

The meeting thread is open. Feel free to state any preperations you might make. Some of you might agree to meet somehwere earlier and go to the meeting together. Or post anything you might want to have said or asked here.

Pier was agreeable to meeting with any on the morrow, with that said he ventured forth to explore possibilities at one of the many tables where cards were being played.

Though not a compulsive gambler Gaston enjoyed cards and offered to play a hand or two with the Duke De Lyonnais. With an easy laugh he commented: "But don't worry your Grace my skill at cards is exceeded only by my bad luck at them."

Re: The Tavern Brevage Noir
As the Duke brought very little coin with him, and a King's Musketeer has very little coin in any case the table stakes are a bot low as the two men gamble for a bit.

It is an early nighty as the Duke easily ouplays the soldier. Soon the already rich noble is twenty sous richer. Which is not even enough to pay for whatever he was drinking in the short time it took to claim the Musketeers coin.

Re: The Tavern Brevage Noir
The sheer fact Pier is a Duke means everyone is willing to take a note of Credit from him to be paid back later. Being A Duke has its perks. All the gambling tables will take a note of credit.

So having dispatched the Musketeer, would you care to take a shot at a bigger fish.
