The Streets of Marseilles
The Duke, while a high born noble is smart enough to realize that he has made a mistake as he wanders the streets of Marsailles seeking a proper inn. As distasteful as he found the Trencavel's Tavern the unknown streets of this part  Marseilles are not much better.

As it is early in the spring, the sun is already down and the shadows are deep.

Make Wit /2

Re: The Streets of Marseilles
You manage to spot the thug who was sneaking up behind you, as well as the two others who are emerging from the shadows. The man behind you is armed with a club. The two others have daggers.

You have time to arm youself and manuver yourself so you are in a corner and they will have to come at you from the front.

Mark a Check for Strategy and decide which weapon you will arm yourself with.

They will move to close with you. You got your move early because of your strategy roll.

They have a higher dexterity so they will get their attack before you.

You rolled 18 using 1d20 ((18))

Pier backs against a wall drawing his rapier and main gauche. Gentlemen be on your way he cautions as he makes a few circles with his rapier.

Re: The Streets of Marseilles
You already made the stratgy roll. It was your wit/2 because of the difficulty. You made it and can put a check.

I will let the 18 go by used as you are out numbered 3 to 1.

Please pick your defence. since you are armed with a fencing weapon you will be able to use reaction parries to parry any melee attacks.

Somewhat hurridly Pier moved his Rapier and M Gauche attempting to parry the oncomming attacks. Fortunatly he managed to parry the dagger which was aimed at his stomach. As he swept the dagger blow he considered a counter stroke, unfortunatly to late to take advantage of the bringands misplaced attacks

Only one parry per attack. either the rapier or main gauche.

Roll 1-3 (11) 4-6 (19).

In reply to Pier DeVilfor (msg #12):

I assume the 11 makes the parry. If so we are ready for the next round.

Nice job surviving that round unscathed.

I made a mistake last round, but it didnt matter. You have a fencing weapon so you act first vs daggers and clubs.

I assume you will go with Parry and Counter again.

The thugs have you cornered and out numbered. At the moment things look very bleak. The another figure emerges silently from the shadows. It looks as if this have turned from bad to worse as the sinister silhouette of this one shows he is armed with a rapier as well ...

Pier groans inwardly but has no time to consider the mounting odds. His rapier and main gauche being worked furiously in the hope of prevent the thugs from overwhealming him.

23:47, Today: Jean Michel Gaunoux rolled 4 using 1d6. extra damage

Attack and Counter. Will use reaction parry as needed.
.

The identity of the dark silhouette becomes clear as he thrusts his rapier into the back of one of the dagger wielding thugs. The thug caught unaware can only gasp as the point of the blade comes out the front of his chest.

He had spotted DeVilfor depart the tavern and had followed him. Luckily he had just caught up in time to join the Duke in the battle and even the odds. He had seen the Duke hold off the three men. While his Grace's skill with a blade was questionable, he had impressed Gaunoux with his determination.

"Your Grace you decided to run off and make new friends without me. I am hurt." Jean Michel Gaunoux said as he prepared to engage the any who attacked him.

00:12, Today: Thugs rolled 19 using 1d20. attack vs Gaunoux.

The club weilding thug spun and attempted to strike the before unseen swordsman. Off balance from surprise and fear, his swing was wide.

"The baron said they would be easy pickings." The thug said, his voice full of panic as what seemed an easy kill turned to something completely different.

Gaunoux please roll a counter attack.

00:12, Today: Thugs rolled 19 using 1d20. attack versus DeVilfor .

The other foe, the surviving dagger weilding would be killer was just as inaccurate with his attack.

DeVilfor please roll a new die for your counter attack.

PS You are even luckier than your character. lol

18:25, Today: Pier DeVilfor rolled 2 using 1d6. damage.
18:25, Today: Pier DeVilfor rolled 11 using 1d20. counter.

Pier has an 11 expertise which gives him a base 8 to hit, +2 for rapier, +1 for Counter for an 11.

The thug dodged for a -2 versus attacks.

For a miss.

As a heads up you only roll the d6 if you roll half or less of what was needed to hit.

@ Pier and Jean Michel In future when you roll specify type of attack.

While the others remain in the Tavern a melee ensues in the streets of Marseilles.
