ahh, but I bet that somebody is already thinking of it.  :)  With this group, the bullets are more useful than the camera so I can wait.  :)

In reply to Alexander Hussein Mahfouz (msg # 919):

OK, I gotta admit that camera is pretty sweet!

As for the book revealing, I will leave that up to the players. An event at Lowther Lodge sponsored by the RGS works, I have no real preference.

In fact, you guys can set it up and describe it, I think the players exceed my limited ability to describe the period and it's not like cultists will be jumping out of the shadows at you with knives! So I guess Alexander can make the post moving us to the book event, then the other players can post as they arrive.

a book event.  How positively marvelous.  I can take pictures (with a regular camera not a gun camera and cover it for the Snoop.  hehehe

Hmm.  I think I have a pin striped suit that would look marvelous at such an event.  Perhaps even a feather in the hat.

Lowther Lodge probably makes the most sense in that the event is a reading not a launch.

Re: OOC Posts I

Okay I'll do that today. Same thread as we've been posting in?

Being the Royal Geographical Society the event will have some famous and titled people at it. No more than about twenty people, not including the party. Alexander has been promoting the book for several weeks at various venues, but this is his last one.

Of interest to our pilot would be Major General Percy Cox, Commanding officer in Mesopotamia and Palestine and then High Commissioner of Iraq and Iran. A future president of the society.

Gertrude Bell, currently in London visiting family.
Francis Younghusband, famed soldier and explorer of Tibet.
Francis Rodd, Explorer of Egypt and ex military intelligence.
David George Hogarth, elderly Archaeologist.
Leonard Darwin, son of the famous Darwin.
Laurence Dudley Stamp professor at Rangoon, home on leave.

And the Earl of Ronaldshay Lawrence Dundas, current president.

Just for background fluff if that's okay with you Keeper. Apart from Gertrude Bell, they are all past and future presidents of the Society.

I was thinking that Alexander will have arranged for a private room for the party to congregate afterwards to talk.

Keep the background fluff coming. As well, it slipped my mind that the Imam would be going as well, so I edited my post to indicate he would be accompanying Alex.

Thanks.  The news on the organizations was great.  Now...which of the players is going?  Molly needs an escort.  Can't be a member or attend without one.  Oh dear.  Does this mean I'll have to <gasp> wear a dress and conform for one night to the perceived expectations that men had of women back then?  Hmmm.  I wonder if I can remember to bite my cheek and pretend to do a proper swoon.  Oh the things I don't do for a story.

In reply to Molly 'Mungo' Fuller (msg # 930):

Gertrude Bell is also there tonight.

She was an English writer, traveller, political officer, administrator, archaeologist and spy who explored, mapped, and became highly influential to British imperial policy-making due to her skill and contacts, built up through extensive travels in Greater Syria, Mesopotamia, Asia Minor, and Arabia.

She died in 1926. Perfect time to organise an interview as she was only in Britain briefly during 1925 before returning to Bagdad.

Most excellent.  I'm going to have Molly then arrive in a car.  Anybody else who wants to go with her can just jump in from that post then if they want.

I'm not sure the Flight Lieut. has it in him to be tied to one woman for a prolonged period of time.  LOL.  Of course you are free to investigate for yourself in game.  hehehe

Re: OOC Posts I

A gentleman would not answer such a question of a lady's status :)

I'll leave it to Molly to determine how much of an item they might be.  Actually my thought was that he would simply be escorting her to the book presentation.

Re: OOC Posts I

For those of you interested, here is the complete transcript of the 1924 National Geographic article about the trip.

http://saharasafaris.org/hassa...y/ngs1924article.htm.

I've lived and worked in Egypt so this might explain my obvious love for the country.
