I'm NOT hunting for beavers.  They have work to do.

Also....ew.

Re: OOC: Talk the talk before you walk the walk.

Why eew? Beaver meat was a traditional pain reliever at one time, thanks to the aspirin stored in certain glands. And being rodents, they aren't a huge hassle to catch (well, there are exceptions - porcupines) and taste pretty good. To wolves, at least.

beavers can be quite the pest...

I find that some nice hot tea can do wonders for everything!

In reply to Tony McGlinn (msg #137):

*snorts a laugh*  There's a reason traditions die out, big guy.
I'll take modern medicine, thanks anyway.   Much better than eating rodent.

Tea is good - I prefer green over black, but that's just my tastes - but tradition is a powerful force. Remember Fiddler on the Roof?

Re: OOC: Talk the talk before you walk the walk.

Very famous play about tradition and family, ostensibly set in a Jewish village in Eastern Europe... but interestingly, it translates into other cultures remarkably well, well enough that the Japanese were asking about the playwright (or perhaps the actor troupe) "How do they know us so well?"

Re: OOC: Talk the talk before you walk the walk.

I'm familiar with it, but have just never seen it.
Tradition is a fine thing, as long as it makes sense.   I'm in Texas, where people a LOT of really stupid things because "it's tradition".

I understand that tradition is powerful, but so is ignorance and fear.  Tradition for its own sake is usually a bad thing.

Agreed there. So many cultures have been demonized in the name of religious dogma/traditions it is sickening.

Wuf?

*wags his tail, thumping it against the nearby curtain and sliding door*

Have you ever seen a game world where the goddess of ignorance is the head of the pantheon?

Re: OOC: Talk the talk before you walk the walk.

I dont think Daniel gets how hosed he is... in the Amberite family, the lower your number on succession to the throne is.... the more enemys you have... I once played Random's kid... right after he became king... at first it was one of those things of "dont worry, your somewhere in the 30s" as a unclaimed kid(which happened a lot because other kids would go off looking for them, just to make some elders lives a living hell... or to use them against different elders) and then when i pulled the "take me to my Amberite parent" and landed next to random there was a lot of "oh shit" and "you just went from 30 something to 2nd... nice knowing you"

and yes, ignorance is bliss, but at the same time, you dont know just how much trouble you are getting into and cant do a thing about it.

Re: OOC: Talk the talk before you walk the walk.

I wonder whether kids sired by Dworkin's or Oberon's shadows inherit any traces of the ability to walk the lesser Patterns? Hmm. I don't think that was ever addressed in the books, just that a Shadow world that one of the actual royals stayed in too long gained increased reality and started to cast its' own shadows.

Re: OOC: Talk the talk before you walk the walk.

Corwin actully, he cast several reflections of himself from the 400+ years he spent in the earth shadow.

As for if kids of shadows can walk any of the complete patterns... no, though broken pattern can be walked by anyone. Also a interesting note, in order to walk say.... Corwin's pattern, the one he drew, either you have to be of his blood(sorry kids of eric :P) or, you have to be walking it with his permission, and generally that means either he has to be in trump contact(which is a really mean way to mess someone up on the pattern, if you can make contact that is.), or you have to be pattern charged by him.

I'd suspect that someone attuned to the Jewel of Judgement, wearing it, would likely be able to force their way onto his Pattern too.

Oh? What was the play? Pippin? Warp? Whatever that play was with the lead characters eating eyeballs from flattening nurses and a jet of blood from God's bitten wrist flying across the stage?

Ah. Not a very weird play, but a strong and emotionally rich one nonetheless.
