1395 DR.  Ten years ago was Year of Blue Fire.  Most can remember that dreadful day.  The earth shook, the sky darkened, there was a terrible sound, and then the blue fire.  As the Sea of Fallen Stars receded, entire civilizations were thrown into panic.  Many fled, running from the center of the world as if instinctively knowing that some terrible danger lie in that direction.  Entire cities were abandoned.

Ten years ago, Uthmere was just a tiny human village.  After the outbreak of the spellplague, fleeing refuges swelled it's numbers by the tens of thousands.  Both the cultured elves of Lethyr and the savage tribes of the Great Dale felt threatened by the arrival of this vast swarm of humanity.  Disputes arose here and there, and the sheer numbers of the humans forced many tribes from their ancestral hunting grounds.

It was Dez Fafara, Orc leader of the savage alliance who finally took decisive action.  The humans were unprepared for the smaller but more militant force, and many were slaughtered.  But a brilliant human noble by the name of Jonah Toborman rallied the humans and they managed to fight the savages to a deadlock.

The siege was broken with the arrival of the Lethyr Elf queen Tela and her army.  The queen did not side with either army, but the threat of her joining either was enough to force both sides into peace talks.  A truce was agreed upon, and the treaty between the three formed a new alliance out of the three with each group having an equal say.  The most important decision of the agreement, the "high rule," was that all races would be given equal treatment under the law.

But the queen fell in love with the human leader.  When the two were wed, the balance of power swung against the savage tribes.  After several decisions the tribes considered unfair, Dez Fafara broke off relations and took his tribes to the northeast, swearing to some day make the Humans and Elfs pay for their betrayal.

King Jonah built a city out of the refugees, and in spite of the departure of Dez Fafara, honored the high rule and treated those savages who stayed behind as citizens with equal rights.  But about a year ago, he contracted the spellplague and died.  Surprisingly, the queen remarried within the month.  Her very charismatic new half-elf husband, Maximillian Oaktree, has ruled effectively, and Uthmere has prospered.

1385 Year of the Blue Fire, Julius was 16 and left family to "become a man" in the military.  Came from one of the cities that fled the center: Lyrabar.  Arrived a full soldier at Uthmere about 2 months later.  (Minimum 6 months)Few months of border patrol and skirmishes and quickly rises in rank.  Given book on tactics by his mentor Pixis.  Finds his family has died while he was busy.  Fellow soldier consoles him and becomes his lover.  Unknown how long till next event.  At least 4 years later.

Squad had 12 members.  Some time after the peace treaty, maybe during snow storm that his unit died.  A rogue unit of orcs (Need name  Face stealers?) not a part of the Savage alliance, known to attack defenseless people.  Wear distinctive faces-of-slain-enemies capes.  While under orders to go evacuate a small settlement, orcs attack the unit (Need name) then when it looks like thing aren't going well, they retreat.  Tracks look like they're headed for the settlement, but disappear into a stream.  Hilly area ideal for an ambush.  A pit trap separates Julius from the others, leg breaks.  By the time he manages to crawl out, his unit is wiped out.  Passes out.

Wakes up in first aid tent.  Given access to personal effects of his unit to verify the dead.  None survived.

Liberty may only be an infant when she's taken, but her memories of her parent's thoughts were quite vivid.  If she relives their death throes, she remembers as they were dying they were thinking about their children.  Including her older bro.  Perhaps she prayed and was given a divine spark to resist becoming a villain.  The mind flayers were most interested in the human brain's seat of psychic powers.  Force Lib to watch in mirror her own brain exposed and probed.  The physical probing didn't reveal the location, so experimentation changed instead to pavlovian experiments, attempting to control her behavior.  Also interested in using psychic power to combat the spellplague.  Visited in her dreams by an angel of mercy?  Was it Lib's own telepathy that drew the dwarves to find the mindflayers and attack?  Maybe a mindflayer warns her about something?!  Maybe a cleric of Ilsensine(G): God of illithids, mental domination, magic.

Princess went to a guest room with mommy.  Lib shares princess' vision with the group.  Finn tries to tutor her on how to control her power.  Discuss prophesy.  Asellus suggests hour could be now, just another place.  While Raymond rushes to see the king to contact Justice and find out if something's happening at the hole, Finn asks him to find out when Justice can come tutor princess in magic.  (Finn's fiance will tutor her.)  Clair still with mom.

Tim: even a few minutes of this campeign is amazing and exciting.  I suspected it would be.  I was watching you prepare with 4e monsters ahead of time.  Flexibility being willing to continue or not depending on whim of group.  Prophesy plus awakening of princess powers.  Can't say bad for not continuing 'cause we gotta go.  Awesome point: Kori.  For pretty much giving clair the order to go see her mother.  Visuals!

Kori: Sinkhole yay.  Storyline.  Session didn't require much setup.  No bads.  Just enough to feel like we accomplished something while still in time constraint.  Awesome Point to John for playing 2 very different chars.

John: Getting to tell the queen to do something and having her do it.  Some story progress.  I like.  Finn the vagrant is now tied down in like 4 different ways.  Getting to act out each character.  The Wall of Pain.  Bad: Time constraints.  But not sure how much longer I can stay conscious.  Awesome to Clair for emotional release.  And remembering the flower.
