Re: Out of Chracter Posts I

In reply to Bullet Magnet (msg # 20):

Of course we're going to need a TL, but an ATL as well. If someone wants to do it who hasn't yet had the chance, then why not? But experience also counts for something.

Lee/Moonsaber played "Lee Harvey Oswald" and did a fine job. He started as ATL and took over the team when the TL was killed by friendly fire. Lee was recruited into the Project to carry out a very difficult assignment: pretend to assassinate a President. He is still around, your PCs can ask him about it when you meet him.

To reiterate, if you want to go through wake-up (pretty much a rite of passage for TMP) then make a RECON character. Otherwise, a local is swell.

Off-hand, are there any new TMP players here? Everyone except Cymon and Bullet Magnet came from previous Morrow Project games I've run. Ian has been in Morrow Project games I've played since I started in '98 or so. I'm hoping to get one of the original players from when I started Final Watch in 1999 into the game, he seems interested. As well, Mel seems interested.

Re: Out of Chracter Posts I

Some more notes.

Once PCs names are in, I will start a single "Private Messages" thread for your character in their name. This is to prevent having a massive number of personal threads. Please reply and send messages to this thread only, do not create new private threads. This also makes looking up information much easier.

As well, I will get around to posting a standard Project gear issue soon.

Obviously, as this is a "classic" Project game only project gear that is issued until 1987 is available.

Contact Person. Morrow Industries is an equal opportunities employer. Sure, a Contact Specialist is fine.

Do you have a name yet?

Standard issue gear is posted. There are a few personal tweaks. No cold weather jacket included, as you will get one in the team's cold weather issue. There is an extra 1L canteen (2 total) included.

Your main clothing is a newer-issue set of 2-piece OD BDU/combats style fatigues (pants and long-sleeved tunic) instead of coveralls. Easier to go to the bathroom without stripping off your web gear! But you are still issued a pair of older style coveralls to use as a light-duty MOPP/"Bunny Suit" in CBR environments.

Hello team,

Blank character sheets are done, and editable.

I'll look into posting a template for you all to use. Proably ASCII, but if anyone has a fillable .pdf or spreadsheet to share that would be handy.

Ok.. so if we have to actually roll characters..

And.. Edit..

Oh, Allocate dice.  Hmmm.

Still, I reserve the right to junk a below average character.

Scrapping a below-average PC is somewhat unsporting but I guess I wouldn't blame you. At that point you can switch to the alternative point-based method.

I've had players ask about the points allowed. This is a starting team and 80 points is the standard amount. That's where we'll start.

came back today said okay we do this and this and this and you will have a computer back on Tuesday
seeing as I am using a Acer Aspire small lap top at the moment I shall be very happy .  My eyes do not like small screens

When I am on the road I have to rely on my phone and have had to for sometime. Recently I picked up a great deal on a refurbished dell laptop and it is one of the best purchases I have ever made. Just mad with myself that it took so long to get one.

Be careful with acers, I have had 2, both blew up on me one in six months and the other at 11 mo.

Plus on the first dying acer, I was looking at 600 in fees for diagnostics, attempted repair, and data transfer when it was truly dead. Luckily two other poor shmagegies had acers that needed a combined total of 900 in parts, so I made 150 in the deal and the computer guy didn't have to wait months for parts.

The second Acer is currently setting in my I found a cool instructable to repourpose this pile.

Nice rig! A lot better than mine.

Unfortunately your personal allotment is basically a shoe box in size: 30cm x 20cm x 20cm, and 10kg. Aerosol  containers are discouraged. NVGs and personal weapon optics are encouraged! Enough room for a knife or pistol, but not a sword I'm afraid.

Mr PD how could you inflict that monstrosity of a vehicle on us
Please please let us have a V150 APC or two XR311.
I do not know who ever thought the ranger was fit for off road but they are so very wrong. Ian

Ok.  James Gerrold MacGuire "Jimmy".

Former 19D (US Army Cav Scout), did his 4, then joined the NG, kept up his skills.  From Sayre PA, a graduate of Sayre High School (The Redskins), where Deer Hunting is like a religion, and his "Real" job is a used car salesman.  He's roughly 30, divorced, has elderly parents, no kids and a brother with a daughter and two sons that he spoils on occasion.

Contact Man with military background.  Joined the project because he "gets" it, wants to do the right thing.

Got my book out, will start on character this weekend.  Got a 2nd Ed werewolf game (Forsaken) tonight.  Whoot.

In reply to Moonsaber (msg # 41):

OK, character updated.

If he was in the Cav, he was probably deployed in the Fulda Gap patrolling the IGB,

For the RECON team we have a Contact Specialist, kind of a go-to position for TMP.

The team also needs:
  • Driver/mechanic
  • RTO/Signaller.

Not to mention a TL! At 4 personnel (so far, w/o NPCs) you don't need an ATL but it could come in handy as you are likely to get bigger.

Dylan is part of SCIENCE D-6, an already active team in CG Seattle. The Project RECON personnel are assigned to RECON K-44, which is part of Regional RECON Group K.

Hi Ian,

What, the good old Ranger? Be thankful you're not walking like the last team. They didn't even have a vehicle! They only had shank's mare.

Eventually they salvaged a BTR-70, turning it into the "Brontransportur Proyekta Morrow" or BPM.

Re: Out of Chracter Posts I

Heh.  I was like "Whoooo!  We got wheels!"

=)

Beats LPCs (Leather Personnel Carriers).

Contact Man will likely be a jack of all trades of sorts, but I can concentrate on Driver.

If this is pre blowup, 11D Cav Scout were in ACR, 2nd, 11th, and 3rd.  At the time I don't recall where stateside 2ACR was (Toujors Pret!) but 3rd ACR (Brave Rifles) was Ft Bliss TX and 11th (Dark Horse) ACR was in Germany, yes.

That Fulda Gap experience would be more useful in game than the time spent playing in the sand, and I am familiar with both (I was stationed at Ft Bliss, and was stationed in Germany in that era myself, my unit being direct FA support for 3rd Panzer, 3rd ID, and 11th ACR.)

Remind me to relate the tale of having to use tent poles to find a jeep lost in a snow drift one January in the Fulda Gap.  (Yes, I have spent time there.)
