Chuckle yea the so called Good old ranger. That ever MP player ever issued one has started using cuss words at PD before game starts.

Me thinks I want a Semi rigid 30ft boat for water travel out there.

PD one thought here. how much land has the ocean and the inland passage reclaimed
personal questions
what pistol calibre's are being supported in this game.
Can we mix and match to geta basic kit we are happy with
Are CS and CN-DM being loaded into 40mm or can I get some loaded pre sleep

1) This being the Puget Sound, the Group is well supplied with watercraft. Unfortunately, the storage facilities for the bulk of watercraft (including an SK-10 hovercraft) has not been activated. You do have Zodiacs, which are fine for the sheltered waters of the Sound.

2) 3rd Ed. background, more or less. Primarily 9x19mm with some .357 and .44 Magnum.

3) What you see is what you get.

4) There are 40mm CS available. No preloading available.

That's fine. I always play the RTO!

While 4th ed. lists "Medic" as a team role, this is a Recon team and not a Medical team. There is at least 1 PC already with medical experience but this is not their sole team role. (If it was, they would be on a medical team and not a Recon team.)

We still need Gunners, mechanics/technicians to maintain the team gear. A Scout or two would be very handy for a Recon team. And a TL!

Hey, this was me remembering back to the 1980's when I originally played this game!  We were all guys (playing at the rec center on Ft Bliss), and playing guys.

As a point of interest, two of those guys were 19D MOS (Cav Scouts) with 3rd ACR.

Less "Gotcha" and just an explanation on why not "PC".  I am starting to ooze non PC again these days.  Maybe it is my renewed NRA membership?  Put a "Molon Labe" ( μολὼν λαβέ ) decal next to my "Don't Tread on Me", on the back of my 4x4 Ute!  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molon_labe

In reply to James (Jimmy) Gerrold MacGuire (msg # 53):

I was simply impressed with the reference and the timing, I didn't play TMP until the late 90's.

At least back then, I recall that being what we now consider to be un-PC often included being overtly racist and sexist, deliberately or not. Now the social and political context of being non-PC is seen to have changed, at least in the US. Obviously, you are not your character but recruits who make a point of not recognising the many qualified and trained female Project members (for example) at some point will be pulled aside for maybe having some kind of underlying personality issue.

And my character is not likely to be misogynistic or racist.

Good to hear. And just saying "contact man" doesn't make you a misogynist! I'm probably blowing things out of proportion.

Ok, so I'm back from holidays. A few people have their characters done, lookin' for some more! I hope to get rolling by the end of the week. Is that going to be an issue for anyone?

Cool. So far, for RECON K-44 we have Jimmy, a contact man and commo guy (RTO). Alice is a medic/driver. The team can still use a scout, mechanic/technician gunner and/or TL. Cross-training is fine as well but not necessarily practical for such a small team.

Whoops, forgot to Close the Rules thread.

You should have the option of downloading a copy at the top of the page?

Commo?  NOSIR!

But he can drive and work on a vehicle.  Long nights in the car lot, and a bit of Army experience thrown in.  Available as your ATL (IF MP can lower their standards that far.)

Tim will put his hand up for mechanic/technician gunner. He could also probably play second fiddle scout if need be.

My mistake. Lina is on comms.

Commonly overlooked but useful skills include Acrobatics, Athletics, Brawl and Martial Arts. All will allow you to Parry, Dodge hand to hand, archery and bullet(!) attacks, and Dive for Cover.

For "local" recruits, I will suggest caps for skills as appropriate to simulate a lack of formal education and access to training/experience in certain Advanced/Complex skills. Generally 5 TPs can be put into most of these skills.

My apologies, I should have put more thought into that earlier. But I was on vacation!

Re: Out of Chracter Posts I

Hi team,

Some of you are new to rpol or only have this game as active. One issue is that it's difficult to keep advised when there are posts, as you need to keep checking the board. (I have the site saved on my bookmark bar.)

One easy way to be alerted of new posts is there is an email alert function. Go to User Preferences in the upper left, then select Email Notifications. This will check your game(s) on a schedule and then send you an alert (from every 15 minutes to hourly/daily).

You can also modify your colour scheme; I have a pleasing forest green scheme selected.

Added: there is now an excel spreadsheet for downloading! This should help with character-building.

I will try and put up an ASCII character sheet that will be easy to fill out and post to your character sheet section.

Ok, ASCII Character sheet completed. It is in everyone's Character Details > Character Sheet folder except those who've completed their characters. For them, it's posted in the Rules and Game Materials section. Don't worry about formatting, it will look ok in the character sheet section.
