Also, it was not meant to be all in Amerind, just the beginning basic stuff.

What was in purple definitely not!

I don't know my limits until you tell me, but I know my character is supposed to be an expert on contact.  He has a native guide, and will lean on her.

In reply to James (Jimmy) Gerrold MacGuire (msg # 185):

I don't think you need to roll on probably either Persuasion or Negotiation. It would be the latter and I think an automatic success is appropriate.

In reply to Project Director (msg # 186):

I'll need a watch schedule for the night.

As well, everyone can roll on Survival to set up a good camp. This is an easy task so your skill is increased by 40 percentiles.

Thanks,

tony

Re: Die Rolls

I'm sorry, I somewhat overlooked Elliot's actions.

The boat is anchored in the inlet, just offshore? Or is it out in the ocean?

If it's the former then Elliot may make an Observation check (and get at least 1 DoS) to determine the location of the camp as they are practicing light discipline. If he gets 5 Dos then he can locate the village which is heavily masked by forest and the increasing rain.

Thanks,

Tony

Re: Die Rolls

In reply to Project Director (msg # 192):

Elliot can roll Observation to spot the camp from the boat at the beginning of the night watch. I assume you are anchored just offshore in the inlet, not in the open ocean.

Andy should make a second Observation roll to determine what, if anything, he sees or hears.

Both rolls will have different modifiers. I assume both NVGs are with the sentries onshore.

Tony

Ok! Andy hasn't checked in for a couple weeks. I hope he's just on vacation!

As for Elliot, if you want to make an Observe check that would be swell.

Aboard the "NAUGHTY LASS", Elliot was able to establish visual contact with the campsite, although the woods prevented seeing more than just the tent closest to the water.

Re: Die Rolls

In reply to Andy Maxwell Flasch (msg # 197):

Let's look at the numbers!

-20 Range Modifier: 20m in forest
-90 Full Moon/Night, Light Rain (the -30 is tripled due to range modified in effect)

+50 Starlight Scope (applies to the -90 darkness penalty)
+10 x4 Starlight scope magnification
+10 Mass 18 target

For a net -40 to Observation skill.

His effective Observation skill is 35, so with a roll of 71 he got 4 Degrees of Failure. He completely misses the bear due to the trees and rain until it decides to move off.

Thanks,

Tony

At least with 4 degrees of failure he did not bear-ly miss it, but instead had a grizzly failure.

Re: Die Rolls

In reply to Project Director (msg # 203):

Captain Kim may make an Observation check. He doesn't have personal binoculars so he is using the team's CP-7 laser-rangefinding binoculars (7x45 magnification gives +20%). He is far too far away to spot anyone hiding in the forest on the headland but there may (or may not) be other important things to see.

Kim's Observation Skill: 62%
"Aim" for purpose of spotting (max equal to skill): +62%
Binoculars with 7x magification (+10% per 3x): +20%
Range (8km+ in the clear): -100%

Effective Skill: 44%

Tony

10:08, Today: James (Jimmy) Gerrold MacGuire rolled 63 using 1d100 with rolls of 63.  Observation, 66 w/ unknown equipment and environment modifiers.

Using binocs, minus whatever you determine... exactly 3 points under his base skill.

Either an awesome success or not a success =)
