In reply to Project Director (msg # 134):

With that roll, can he do an "Other Angle" attack?

Doesn't want to fire at the Windigo, so the idea is to hit the woods to the side of it... is there a vehicle in front of it, other than the scout?

Not sure what to do with the intel... firing AT his comrades is bad, better to do nothing.

I have bumped the tread with the map.

Windigo is in front of the Ranger. Then the Scout. Jenna's ATV is somewhere off up ahead.

Agreed, you probably don't want to fire blindly into the smoke in the direction of comrades!

Re: Die Rolls

In reply to Project Director (msg # 136):

Would it be Metagaming to have folks concentrate fire to the left of the felled tree?

Left, because we are supposed to be to the left of the Ranger slightly and that is where we can hear some stuff, and where we have been concentrating fire.  Forward because that is where the activity is?

The idea is that we want to try to help... without hurting comrades, so we make the forest inhospitable.

Re: Die Rolls

In reply to James (Jimmy) Gerrold MacGuire (msg # 137):

To concentrate fire on the felled tree, you need to enter the woods in order to see it. Other than that you can only conduct area fire in the woods to your left (facing forward down the trail) in a wide arc as a unit. Bear in mind your instructions were to sweep the forest on the left after hosing anyone there down with suppressive fire. I guess a "recce by fire" does qualify in some sense.

Re: Die Rolls

In reply to Tim Charles White (msg # 143):

This is a percentile system. Tim has 85 with MG. His first shot is at +25, the second at +30 skill, so both rolls hit. (He would only miss on a 100.)

The shot on the runner was 47, so 4 Degrees of Success (DoS). The roll for the sitting guy is 97, so 9 DoS. (DoS equals the tens column of a shot that hits.)

Each DoS can be used to mean an extra bullet hit (up to 2 extra in a 3-round burst), or add 1 to the weapon EF (17 for the MAG) or "move" the area where the bullet strikes. Once I know how many bullets hit each target (you can assign 2 DoS each) I will roll a damage location or locations. Then you can then decide if you want to up the damage or modify the hit location.

May I suggest you put 2 DoS from each burst into extra rounds hitting? That means each target gets 3 bullets. You can decide if you want to use the other DoS to up the damage from there or shift hit locations. An EF of 17 is pretty good already, probably the other DoS should go into shifting hit locations (depending on where I roll for random location).

Thanks for that Tony that sounds fine. I am on my phone for a couple of days so sorry but posting is a right pain.

In reply to Tim Charles White (msg # 145):

No problem, Compared to the old system, this one adds a lot more complication with less effect! It is less deadly as well, although that could be considered a bug and not a feature by some.

I am happy to make all the required rolls and do the necessary grunt work.

Dang, not quite! Also, you want to get as high as you can to your score without going over. A 2 is a pass but with zero Degrees of Success (DoS), a minimal success. But they also succeeded, and also with 0 DoS.

Let's have just Jenna roll initiative.

Does tracking fall under HUNTING skill?  Don't have it.  Can SURVIVAL work at a penalty?  Even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and again.

16:35, Today: James (Jimmy) Gerrold MacGuire rolled 3 using 1d100 with rolls of 3.  "Tracking" on the Hunt skill.

He has a skill of 66, almost disappointing to see the low roll.  Starting to not like this reversal of RuneQuest, lol.
