Cool.

Remember, in this rules set your degree of success (DoS) doesn't rely on how well you make your roll, but what the "tens" result is, if you make your roll (remember, skills/skill base can be modified by circumstances). In this case, assuming you made your roll, you have 2 DoS due to the roll being 26.

I don't have my book handy for the hearing modifiers but I think nearby gunfire is a -10 and range might be another -10% to your AWA skill base (46%). That roll is good enough to pass, so 2 DoS is fine.

I'll say that Jimmy hears horses(?!) from the direction of Windigo. That is, north up the trail.
