Timeline

Golarion's calendar has twelve months comprised of 30 days each. Months are divided into weeks of seven days each. The starting year of the game is the year 4712 of the Absalom Reckoning (A.R.).

The timeline presented below details the events in game, as narrated by Master Builder & Supreme Bard of the Greenbelt, Ayles Greencloak the First.

24th of Calistril, 4712 A.R.
: The Stolen Lands expedition is chartered in the free city of Restov in the Kingdom of Brevoy. The explorers set out from Restov for Oleg's Trading Post.

Encountering bandits led by the dreaded Stag Lord, the explorers mounted a desperate defense of Oleg's Trading Post and overcame the Stag Lord.

On the twenty-second of Rova, the autumnal equinox, a holy day of Erastil, the Barony of the Greenbelt was founded. Its initial holdings were built as the castle of Stagfall on the ruins of the Stag Lord's keep. A few homes for the first migrants were built, as well as a road up to the crossing of the three rivers, where some farms were built in the fertile soil near the rivers.

Visiting the city of Restov in the land of Brevoy, the explorers received funding and supplies to found their new kingdom from two sources: the Lord-Mayor Ioseph Sellemius, of the restless frontier city of Restov, chafing under northern rule; and the newly ascended Royal Family of Surtova, which has taken the throne of Brevoy soon after the mysterious disappearance of the entire ruling family.

The explorers soon meet their neighbors to the west and south, including the Sootscale kobolds and the fey creatures of the land, such as Tyg-Titter-Tut the grig, Nidlee the water sprite, and Perlivash the fairy dragon. In a remarkable discovery, the explorers came across an ancient temple to Erastil, which soon was restored and administered by their ally, Kesten Garess, a grumpy old cleric of Erastil. Soon afterwards, a delegation of druids from the martial druidic nation of Sevenarches made a 600-mile pilgrimage to witness the statue and temple discovered by the lords.

4713 A.R.: The budding city of Staghelm expands rapidly along the fertile plains of the western Greenbelt. Venturing southwards, the party encountered a lizardman tribe living nearby, and established peaceful relations.

Meanwhile, loggers and bandits from Mivon and Pitax caused a constant stream of trouble for the young lords of the Greenbelt, and an assassination attempt by Pitax on Bryce Ostlander, the kingdom's warden, was foiled, as was an assassination attempt on Desra's life by assassins sent by the elven kingdom of Kyonin.

4714 A.R.:
Sponsored by the martial druidic kingdom of Sevenarches, the young lords attended the Outlaw Council for the first time, forming wary trade agreements with Sevenarches, Hymbria (a kingdom renowned for its honey and poisons, led by elves and half-elves banished from the elven kingdom of Kyonin), and Lambreth, a small kingdom held in an iron grip by the fearsome Lord Arnefax.

The lords found an eager ally in Maegar 'Magus' Varn, a young nobleman from a nearby settlement founded just before the Greenbelt, who spent long hours at the Outlaw Council with Francine, and visited Stagfall soon afterwards.

Lord-Mayor Ioseph Sellemius of Restov, encouraged by Stagfall's peaceful development of relations with its neighbors, generously funded 29 GB towards the development of the Goldleaf Trading Co. guildhall. Sevenarches donated funds for a new church in northern Greenbelt, while Hymbria donated the Hymbria Peace Park in Stagfall proper.

The relative peace of the kingdom was shattered by an incursion by a vicious troll king, Hargulka, whose attacks on trading caravans ended when he was slain at last in his lair by the young lords. Soon afterwards, an attack by a vicious owlbear (supposedly loosed by Hargulka) damaged the city walls.

4715 A.R.: Further exploring their lands, the young lords vanquish many local terrors, from forest drakes, to snapping turtles, to a ferocious Worg named Howl-of-the-North. They saved the grove of a dryad, Tiressia, from a vicious Scythe Tree.

Among the wondrous discoveries within their lands was the mysterious Candlemere Tower, occupying the mist-filled Candlemere Island, haunted by wisps and strange voices, and bearing strange elven ruins. The young lords also discovered a long-forgotten Elven Keep, defeating the evil fey that once called it home.

Far to the South-West of the Kingdom, the young lords discovered an ancient barrow tomb. Defeating the undead within, Lord Girard recovered an ancient blade once possessed by a long-dead barbarian warrior-king. The blade's runes name it as Cym Glas.

Deep in the River Kingdoms, a series of border skirmishes between Hymbria and Sevenarches nearly led to outright war, with the tiny city-state of Cordelon briefly occupied by Sevenarches.  Peace talks between Hymbria and Sevenarches were held at Staghelm, and led to a ceasefire. Lord Arnefax occupied the city of Cordelon as part of a multinational coalition and implemented brief martial law. In the confusion of implementing martial law, Desra's servant Sergius of Khrusha, who was observing the process, was killed in mysterious circumstances, and soon afterwards, Lord Arnefax began to court Lady Desra.

Fresh from the successful negotiations, the young lords learned that the entire population of their neighboring settlement of Varnhold has gone mysteriously missing...

4716 A.R.: Venturing to Varnhold, the lords discovered that the population had been ensorcelled by a ancient cyclopean lich named Vordekai. Vordakai had slept for thousands of years, banished by his own people for transforming his closest followers into brain eating zombies. Guided by the words of the Nomen Centaur, the lords searched for the lich's hidden lair.

Traveling through Varnhold's lands, the lords encountered perils such as a giant roc at Talon Peak, giant spitting slugs at the Mudlands (which killed their loyal companion Joscelyn Fairbanks), dracolisks, and Kaurai the Perfect, a black legendary Chimera. They made new allies along the way, including the phase spider Zzamas, Accora Silverfire, the princess of the centaurs, and Ebonclaw, a gargoyle lurking in the mountains of Varnhold who later became the new Royal Assassin of the kingdom.

Tailed day and night by a mysterious raven, the lords continued southwards. Girard and Desra had repeated dreams of an elven lady, warning them of the danger of Vordekai, though it soon became apparent that the elven lady was also responsible for leading Vordekai's creatures to the party.

Entering Vordekai's Tomb deep within the earth, the lords vanquished zombie cyclops and Piscodaemons. They found that Vordekai had been slowly killing off the residents of Varnhold in gruesome staged feasts of decadence. The lords battled Vordekai at the heart of his tomb, overcoming him at last as his magical compulsions on Magus Varn were defeated by true love.

Soon after, Varn and Francine were engaged, and Varn swore his remaining kingdom to the Greenbelt, nearly doubling the young kingdom's size.

Akiros Ismort, the kingdom's diplomat, worked ceaselessly to set up treaties with the kingdom's residents (kobolds, lizardfolk), and neighbors such as the Iron Wraiths, a band of Hellknights to the far north-east, and Fort Drelev, another Brevoy settlement close by. Meanwhile the kingdom's longtime vassal Proven founded a new city at the bank of a river where the lords had vanquished the local Tatzlwyrms.

Soon the kingdom found itself larger than ever and rapidly growing in size and prestige. Nearby domains took stock of the newly expanded kingdom and made plans...

4717 A.R.:
Exploring for a possible trading route with Fort Drelev, the lords of the Greenbelt defeated a froghemoth sacred to the bullywog frog-people of the Slough. Their exploration was cut short when Kisandra Numesti, a young noblewoman, made a desperate visit to the kingdom to warn of an impending attack from the Fort Drelev. Unbeknownst to Brevoy or the Kingdom of the Greenbelt, Drelev had surrendered to Lord Irovetti of Pitax, and allowed hordes barbarians into his increasingly despotic realm so that they wouldn’t overrun his kingdom. Attempting to prove his worth to his new master, Drelev launched a futile strike on the Greenbelt, striking Proven's newly built city, where his troll-reinforced army was defeated by the lords' hastily assembled forces.

Relocating Proven's villagers to the elven ruins in the Greenbelt's south, the lords then teleported to Fort Drelev, launching a successful coup and defeating Baron Drelev and freeing Lord Numesti from his prison. Drelev's lieutenant, the loathsome Ameon Trask, was being impersonated by a powerful black dragon, Ilthuliak, a dragon so ancient that he lived during the time of Vordekai the Lich-Cyclops.

While the lords had taken Fort Drelev quickly, they learned that Numesti's other daughters were being held captive by the warlord Armag the Twice-Born. Exploring near Fort Drelev, the lords discovered the recently-occupied city of Thral, dominated by Ilthuliak's black dragon-spawn creatures, and overcame Ayon the Great, a red legendary Chimera.

The lords received a desperate cry for aid from their Hellknight allies the Order of the Nail, which had been trapped within an ancient elven gate, battling ice giants. The lords helped the Hellknights to escape, who soon after joined the kingdom's defense. Meanwhile the other nearby Hellknight order, the Iron Wraiths, borrowed heavily from the Greenbelt to fund a defense of their kingdom from the Tiger Lord barbarians led by Armag.

Lady Desra found and deftly rescued Armag's captives, and soon after the lords followed Armag into ancient barbarian underground ruins, where they discovered that Armag had been dominated by the artifact blade Ovinrbaane, a weapon sacred to the faith of Gorum, the God of War. Defeating Armag, King Girard then convinced the remaining barbarian leaders Coclavlis the Iron Wizard and the mercenary lord Angdrathus to follow them in a conquest of Pitax.

Attacking Pitax swiftly, the lords won a series of increasingly challenging battles. As Pitax's forces threatened to engulf the Greenbelt's struggling forces, Lady Desra used the awesome power of the Occulus of Abaddon to ensorcell Pitax's forces, turning many against their lord.

Newly reinforced, the Greenbelt's army took the city of Pitax by force, and the lords stormed Pitax's palace, where they defeated his guardians, and overcame his clockwork creations to defeat him. Irovetti revealed on his deathbed that in defeating him, the lords had sealed their doom "at that elven bitch's hands." Meanwhile, Irovetti's treacherous seneschal Gaetane, who had offered to lead the lords into the kingdom, went missing in the chaos. His description bore strong resemblance to the black dragon Ilthuliak.

In the distant River Kingdoms, the city of Daggermark closed its borders, as rumors of horrors within the realm (vampires, werewolves, and worse) echoed across the River Kingdoms. Seizing on the opportunity by Daggermark's sudden absence from international affairs, Lord Arnefex of Lambreth attacked and conquered the nearby city-state of Tymon. Sevenarches began a new alliance with the teenage lord of Touvette and the unstable kingdom of Gralton, nearly starting a new war with Hymbria.

On the twenty-second of Rova, the autumnal equinox, a holy day of Erastil, Magus Varn and Francine Marlin were married at the temple of Erastil in a ceremony held by Kesten Garess. The mysterious hag Baba Mazi, who lives within the mysterious standing stones' portal in the Slough, offers a root to help the couple conceive a child, but her offer is politely declined.

4718 A.R.: Strengthening their rule over Pitax, the lords of the Greenbelt enforced acceptance of their rule by the four noble families of Pitax: the nearly-destroyed Liacenza family, secretly supported by Lady Desra's Golden Leaf Trading Consortium; the powerful Strocarre and Cattanei families, and the river-faring Vascari family.

While scouting their domains, the lords encountered Hirador Gentleheart, a female silver dragon, who agreed to foster her son Valstrath in the Greenbelt in the coming year. They also encountered a band of adventurers led by the halfling mage Wilhye Caney, traveling to Hymbria.
