Re: My first adventure 3
With a smell of spiced incense and warm heat emanating from the braziers hanging around the room, Tamalie feels a little guilty at having to pretend to be a recruit into the temple. Sneaking past the other female recruits as they sleep on a cloth padded floor, she is glad that she no longer has to pretend to be sleeping. Terribly boring, to remain so still and quiet, it's a relief to be able to get up and move again.

Pulling on the heavy velvet curtain to the side, she peeks her head out to look down the hallway. Dimly lit with some small lanterns, it reveals various decorations, statues and supportive pillars to cast plenty of strange shadows as well. But there's no one visible keeping watch. Relieved, the Half Elven druid pads barefoot down the hall, only wearing the white silk acolyte robe she was given earlier this day. Making her way down the halls, she has to pause twice due to hearing people walking the halls. Making her way to a prearranged balcony, she approaches it, and looks out to the view beyond. Stunning under the crescent moonlight, the view is breath taking.

Nervous, Tamalie doesn't stop to enjoy the view, rather, she whistles a bird call, one meant to attract two specific others. Having followed the plan, quick enough, down below, something catches her eye, and she almost jumps back, it was so sudden in movement. But it's one of the two companions, with a rope.

Re: My first adventure 3
Morien wore the garments of the male initiates of the temple. His steely grey and icy blue eyes reflected the firelight. He had been unable to bring along his greatsword on this venture as it would have attracted too much attention.

He gestured with the hand holding the rope, a half frown on his face. He didn't like this idea much, but he needed companions... and this was a sort of payment for their services down the road.

Re: My first adventure 3
Smiling to show her gladness to see him, she looks around, seeing if she can spot their other companion, and thinks the bushes must be pretty thick to hide anyone so well.

Whispering down, she says, "Are you alone?" She's surprised, since she was expecting two of them to be down there. At least that's what she thought the plan was. But before he can answer her, she motions with her fingers to "come" whispering, "Ok, toss the rope up."

As soon as he tosses it to her, she'll tie it off to allow him to climb up to the balcony. But she still looks out for any wandering eyes, or their companion to come out from their hiding spot.

Morien nodded and tossed the rope up. "It seems so. I've been waiting for nearly an hour and no one's shown up... so what are we here to do?"

Re: My first adventure 3
The look of shock on her face is clear. Eyes go wide, momentary speechless, and a blank look about her. But after a few moments, it turns to a smile, and shaking her head in disbelief.

Tying the rope off, she lets Morien climb up before she whispers back, "Very funny. What are we here to do?" She tries to mimic his tone and voice in saying that.

"You were able to find it at the market, right? We'll never be able to pull this off without some kind of decoy."

Re: My first adventure 3
Aden came running out of the night's darkness, leaping up onto the wall to grab the rope, and climbing quickly with some skill.  As he neared the top, where his two companions waited, he whispered, "Sorry I'm late.  Took a little longer to get the decoy ready, but what I put together should get the job done nicely.  You've got my disguise, right Tamalie." Aden flashed his rogue grin at the lovely woman.  He'd made a few light advances, but nothing worse than what she was used to.  Plus, he was a good sport about her apparent lack of interest, so she put up with his occasional, misplaced attempts at charm.

At te top of the rope, Morien stared at Tamalie with a quirked mouth held in a half frown. He didn't seem to be joking.

Regardless, he shrugged at the arrival of the newcommer. It looked like he was going to be playing this by ear.

Re: My first adventure 3
There was a brief catch of her breath when Aden came from seemingly nowhere. At first, she was worried of being caught, but then the sense of relief came next when she recognized him.

And while Morien gave her a sober look for her attempt at humor, it put her ill at ease to see him act this way.

Aden was quick to let her know he was ready to get under way though, mentioned that he went and got it.

"Yea I have it, though you gave me a scare."

Tamalie tries to fake being calm about all of this, as she unties her silken belt to loosen the robe she is wearing. Pulling the material apart from her robe, one can tell the layers of white silk cloth reveal that she has two robes on. Taking one layer off, and passing it over to Aden, she tightens the belt once again. The toga like fashion of of the robe makes it mostly one size fits all, and Aden should find that the thin robe was sized for him enough to work.

"That should help disguise you as one of the adherents long enough. Though you'll never be able to disguise that silly grin you always have."

Stepping back on the balcony, it's more heavily shadowed, but she peeks down the hallway, and still there's no one to spot them.

Unable to hold her tongue, the young druid breaks her calm demeanor, saying, "This is really happening. I can't believe you talked us into this Aden. Sneaking around the temple for the Goddess of Love; do you know what me and Morien had to do to be accepted as one of the initiates? I'm never going to able to explain that. And seriously, why would a goddess of love even ask for members to act in such a way?"

The sounds of foot steps down below cause her to stop talking, and she steps even further back from the edge of the balcony. Satisfied when there is no other sounds, she asks quietly, "I couldn't get away to the roof, too many eyes watching, but maybe Morien, you had a chance to find a way up there?"

Morien tilted his head. "The roof? Well, there's an alcove in the garden where the eastern wall just out at an angle. It's hidden from anyone not in the garden.

Inside the alcove, there's a trellis that we could climb. The only problem is that the garden is locked at night. I could probably bust the lock as it doesn't seem particularly sturdy."

Tamalie:
"That should help disguise you as one of the adherents long enough. Though you'll never be able to disguise that silly grin you always have."

"Nor would I want to," Aden replied, pulling the loose robes down over his head and making sure they covered the rest of his clothing. "This silly grin is the distraction I mentioned.  All I have to do is flash it, and any women we encounter are like to swoon from my charms. Tamalie knew from experience that Aden was only half-serious, but that he was also somewhat truthful.  Despite being an absolute rogue with a knack for finding trouble, Aden Bero did possess both handsome features and a talent for charm.

Tamalie:

"You certainly will explain, later over some wine at the Monkey, and in detail, or I'll shall write you off as a wanton braggart. Tell you what, next time we try to infiltrate a temple of love, you can be on market patrol and I'll brave all their sordid initiation rituals."  The oracle gazes into the distant night, imagining what he'd missed out on.

Morien:
"Inside the alcove, there's a trellis that we could climb. The only problem is that the garden is locked at night. I could probably bust the lock as it doesn't seem particularly sturdy."

"Sounds good to me.  Should I start the distraction before then, to minimize a chance of anyone hearing us bust the lock?"

Morien raises his hand in front of his face where it begins to pulsate with a black mist. The moisture from the surrounding air coalesces into frost upon his fingers. "That probably won't be necessary."

With that, Morien begins to head in the direction of the gardens, leaving a slight chill behind him, whether it was from the frost or something else was not certain.

"Has a bit of a chilly personality, doesn't he?" Aden quips to Tamalie as he stares towards the departing Morien.  He then looks back to the druid, quickly raising his eyebrows, which usually means he's about to do or say something rash.  "Well then..." Wasting no more time, Aden follows after him, immediately slipping into character as an acolyte of the temple.

Re: My first adventure 3
Stopping herself from laughing out loud, her smile says she got the humor of the chilly personality.

She was about to tell Aden to go for the distraction, but Morien seemed to have a plan as well. In the big scheme of things, she kind of figured considering that appropriate since Morien seemed to want this so much.

She follows along, her bare feet quite quiet on the stone temple floor.

Re: My first adventure 3
Morien stops only when he hears voices or footsteps other than those he should be hearing. He quickly makes his way to the garden. Indeed there was a large gate made of wrought iron bars, locked with a chain and a large lock.

Morien held it in his hand and it began to darken in color and be covered with frost. It took 2-3 minutes, but, with a quick twist of his wrist, the lock broke in his hand.

"The alcove can't be seen except from the garden. All we need is to place the lock back  around the chains once we are inside. That will be the best time for your distraction, since there will likely be more men on the roof."

Re: My first adventure 3
Aden shook his head, replying, "Cool your britches, Iceman.  You and Tamalie just wait right here.  I'll be back with the item in just a second."

And with that, Aden slipped through the "unlocked" gate, returning in less than two minutes.  If either Morien or Tamalie looked in after him, they saw only a thick cloud of mist, which he emerged from smiling.  He handed Tamalie an orb that glew with a faint light, saying, "The real fun's about to start, and they're going to assume I have this.  Once they start chasing me, you two just play along, blend in, and wait for a moment to slip out unnoticed." No sooner did he say this than a shout came from within the courtyard, "THIEF IN THE TEMPLE, WAKE UP!!!".

As several more voices joined the shout, a loud cacophany of explosions sounded from within, as though someone had set off a bundle of fireworks all at once.  Aden only laughed, drawing out a scroll of expeditious retreat, which he quickly cast upon himself.  He winked at the pair, already moving away as he took off the disguise, and then he took off at an extremely fast speed, shouting, "Aye, sordid love hippies! I've come to pull off the panty raid of the century!!"  Conjuring sparks from his fingertips, he lit and threw fireworks for extra effect as he ran, really wanting the attention to be on him.  Next thing, he was over the wall and running through the countryside, a throng of acolytes giving chase, unable to keep up.  He actually had to slow down so they didn't just give up.

Re: My first adventure 3
Morien closed his eyes and let out a silent laugh through his nose. His mouth, normally in a perpetual frown, drew up in a slight smile... one that made it seem as though he were about to injure someone.

However, as quickly as the smile formed, it vanished. "Let's go."

As he made his way over to the trellis, Tamalie could see that the grass Morien had been standing upon was dead and covered with a light layer of frost.

Once at the trellis, Morien began to climb, motioning for Tamalie to follow closely. Should she place her hand upon a rung that Morien had touched, she would find it cold as ice.

Re: My first adventure 3
Initially shocked to see the orb in her hands, she gave an excited smile at Aden. She was excited to see it finally happen, making this whole effort worth the embarrassment of putting up with the days events and sometimes odd scenes she did see on her tour through the temple.

But when Aden begins to run, and the sounds of alarm are heard, her smile turned to a dropping jaw, and eyes going wide in fear. She knew it was going to come down to this, but now that it's happening, it's a bit frightening. She struggles with where to hide the object, turning, and considering where it can be hidden when she's only wearing a thin white outfit. But in the end, she opts to duck into the shadows of the base of the wall, putting the "Eye" behind her back while she wishes she were as small as she can be.

But the danger is drawn after Aden, and so are many of the acolytes. Which allows Morien and Tamalie to be able to feel far more comfortable in leaving now. Morien is climbing a trellis, encouraging her to follow. She joins up behind him, and looks around behind her to see if anyone is following. A little reluctant, she does follow up along the trellis, and offers, "I'm behind you, let's go. We can still make it back to the Tavern well before dawn."

Morien reaches the top of the Trellis, ducking onto the roof. There was only one guard left on the roof and Morien makes quick work of him with a frosty punch to the face.

The alcolyte twitches, his face frosty and already bruising. He'll live, but he won't win any beauty contests for a few days.

... and, with that, they were on the roof.

Re: My first adventure 3
The heights are quite unnerving to her, and she is glad for the solid roof to be under her feet, though she does quickly move away from the edge. Walking slowly, not wanting to slip, she's breathing heavily from the stress of the whole day, the climb up the trellis, and the fear of being so high. Which is also why as she finally reaches the spot where they are to make their escape leaves her to one one very deep breath. It's so very high up.

"Oh whoa..I don't know if I can do this. Are really going to be able to get across going this way? It seems so very far down, and quite a long ways to get outside the fence of the compound. Are you sure we can't do this another way?"

Morien glanced sideways at Tamalie. It was difficult to tell exactly what he was thinking at the moment. However, his words were as frosty as his temperament. "Well, you could always ask the priests politely to let you out."

He walks over to the side of the building. A tree grew between the roof and the wall. "Do you want to jump or do you need a little 'push'?"
