Re: OOC part 2: the revenge...
well while I'm not going to comment on the theory while those letters would be known to us as Greek; in game you can consider it Ancient Arcadian. Which is something I mentioned to Aden in answer to one of his knowledge checks. It's not used much in the current time in game, but anyone who has lived in Arcadian Alliance territory for a while is at least slightly familiar with them. Just like most college students nowadays are at least a little familiar with the Greek alphabet. By that I mean they recognize them and can identify several. Not that they can speak Greek or read or write in it.

Dustil Kraye:
Well if we're talking Greek then...

North is Fire and is the Tetrahedron and is Alpha.
West is Air and is the Octahedron and is Beta.
East is Earth and is the Cube and is Gamma.
South is Water and is the Icosahedron and is Delta.

but it may have nothing to do with Greek either, lol.

Yanyeeku, our bardic lore master.  Any chance you could make some knowledge checks to know this in-character?  I feel like Dustil OOC has pointed us in the right direction, but I'm uncertain our actual characters would know anything like this.

We could move the A pedastal to the North, make a fire with the kindling while touching the tetrahedron.

Move B pedastal to West, blow on the pinwheel while touching the octa.

Move G pedastal to east, hold the bricks while touching the cube.

Move D pedastal to south, fill the basin with water while touching the Icosahedron.

Or something like that?

Re: OOC part 2: the revenge...
In-character I'm not sure what kind of knowledge check this would be. Perhaps it'd be closer to Linguistics? Or maybe a straight Int check (possibly with bonuses from Bardic Lore)?

DMs? Weigh in?

Yep! Though all the action is in a thread I can't see. So I'll be waiting for a chance to get back into the action.

Sounds like you have gotten a lot further into the dungeon maze. Tamalie was always hoping to go back and meet the minotaur once more. I always intended to come back the next time she was there with some shark, the minotaur's favorite food.

Re: OOC part 2: the revenge...
well knowledge nature and arcana would be the two that come to mind as the most likely. A straight int or wis check is a way to go as well. However successful checks will only give you hints; you'll have to put it all together yourselves.

Well let's give this one a shot! The information I got relates to pillar sizes rather than letters, and I have no idea which one is which.

I guess you were referring to the shapes then. I'll modify the post to try the pillars suggested earlier then.

Re: OOC part 2: the revenge...
Alpha Pedestal, Northern Point. Add kindling and match with Tetrahedron.

Beta Pedestal, Western point. Add pinwheel and match with icosahedron.

Gamma Pedestal, Eastern Point, add bricks and match with cube.

Delta pedestal, Southern point. Add basin and match with octahedron.

I think that's more or less correct. By the way, can the shapes be moved from the table?

Also if anyone else wants to make checks for more hints, please do so. I get the feeling we're going to need them.

Re: OOC part 2: the revenge...
yes you can take the shapes off the table. I'll give you a free hint. you have to put the shape onto the pedestals with the element.

Re: OOC part 2: the revenge...
There isn't much to it. five crystal shapes on a round stone table with a huge stone egg in the middle. The five shapes are: Tetrahedron (d4), cube (d6), Octahedron(d8), Dodecahedron(d12), isocahedron(d20). Also on that table are a basin, some kindling, a pinwheel, and some bricks.

There where 4 pedestals along one wall. Each marked with a different symbol. Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta. there are four positions around the table that the pedestals can be moved to and set in. those positions are at the cardinal points. North, south, east and west.

all of this is said in message 551 of the gauntlet thread.

you can pick up and move the crystals. You can pick up and move the kindling, pinwheel, basin and bricks. you guys moved the pedestals to certain positions around the table.

I really don't see where you could get lost; then again I set the whole thing up so I already have a working mental picture going for me. If you could be more specific in what you don't "see" maybe I could explain it better.

I think I mentioned to at least one person in a PM that you need to have the right shape come into contact with the right element.

basically you need to set the kindling on fire, put "water" into the bowl, ect.

Wasn't sure about that last bit, was waiting to see if it was required after placing the crystals.

Re: OOC part 2: the revenge...
alright just to recap.

Alpha Pedestal, Northern Point. Add kindling and match with Tetrahedron.
Beta Pedestal, Western point. Add pinwheel and match with octahedron.
Gamma Pedestal, Eastern Point, add bricks and match with cube.
Delta pedestal, Southern point. Add basin and match with icosahedron.

now yanyeeku stacked the cube on top of the bricks right?

did the rest of you do anything more than just place the shapes on those pedestals with the kindling, basin and pinwheel?

going to update shortly and need to know if anything more was done.

If we're wrong, I suspect the only thing that was correct was fire.
