The Temple of Many Mysteries.
On almost the other side of town from the Temple of the Divines is the temple of Many Mysteries. While much smaller and no where near as ornate as the Temple of the Divines what it lacks in grandeur it makes up for in spades with charm and novelty. Their are no joints in the stonework anywhere in the temple. The story goes that 30 years ago after a split with the temple of the divines the founder of the temple of many mysteries, A dwarf by the name of Origen, raised a huge slab of rock straight from the ground with a stomp of his foot and then spent the next few hours sculpting that rock with magic into the temple you see before you.

At the front of the temple are two massive but plain doors made of polished dark granite. One each side of the doors are Pillars of varying heights; specially sculpted for each mystery. Currently the massive stone doors are closed. A little ways off to the side is a much smaller door that is also closed, but you can see acolytes entering and leaving through it on occasion.

OOC: got to this later than I thought I would. I might add some more description tomorrow, but this should be good as a starter. Aden and anyone who followed him please feel free to post.

The Temple of Many Mysteries.
It had been a long day, and Aden was glad to be home.  He let himself in through the side door, and immediately headed towards the oracles of life.

The Temple of Many Mysteries.
Unlike the Temple of the divines, where every faith has it's own specific section or shrine, other than the chambers of the head oracles, no section of the temple is dedicated. Acolytes of every mystery work and delve into their mysteries side by side. But Those who are dedicated to the same mystery do tend to congregate together in small groups. With the more experienced and often old oracles leading discussions on their mystery with younger ones.

It takes Aden ten minutes but after a while he manages to find such a group of oracles dedicated to life. At the moment they all seem to be meditating. Reflecting on some discussion they just had.

The Temple of Many Mysteries.
Aden decided to wait patiently, sitting down close by.  He closed his eyes and began to meditate also, focusing on the mind clearing techniques Shaleh Azaran had walked him through hundreds of times.  It never came easy, but he slowed his breathing and focused on the image of a small flame surrounded by darkness.

The Temple of Many Mysteries.
Aden sits and waits; meditating, or at least trying to, for about ten minutes. Finally he hears the Acolytes of life stand up and start moving away. breaking up into smaller groups and heading elsewhere. One of them walks over to Aden. It's one of the "mid rank" acolytes of life. Aden couldn't quite remember the young man's name. He was a nice guy, just a little boring and tended to fade to the background. "Hey Aden. Congrats! You and the rest of team Arcadia are doing pretty well it seems. Think you'll take the tourney this year?"

The Temple of Many Mysteries.
"Hey man, thanks! We'll definitely do our best to make everyone proud, but there's some tough competition.  How ya been?"

Aden would engage the guy in the typical niceties of asking him how things are going and giving the standard friendly replies.  Assuming the Lifer just gives the typical response and doesn't take the conversation anywhere heavy, Aden would continue, "Ah, that's good.  Glad to hear things are going well.  Listen, to your question of whether we'll win, I'm actually looking for some help from the oracles of Life.  We completely exhausted our healing stick today between the competition and the gauntlet.  I was wondering if you and some others might be willing to help us by recharging it with your healing spells?"

Dustil didn't want Aden to go it alone, just in case what with all the craziness and attacks and what not....so he went along with the oracle, but hung back a bit. He let Aden talk to people and he merely...looked around in a bit of awe. It was definitely a sight to see.

Once Aden was settled, Dustil relaxed a bit and let his guard down slightly. He thought he might even find a nice place to meditate, so he looked around slowly.

unprivated portion of previous post

Aden pulled out the healing stick, showing it to the oracle.  "It's something we were able to pick up from Martin & Kern's with our winnings.  It can hold a certain amount of healing energy, and can be recharged by casting healing magics into it."

"Do you think any of the other oracles of life might also be wiling to help?  Or it doesn't even have to be an oracle of life really.  Most of us have healing magic available.  Anyone come to mind that really wants Team Arcadia to bring home a victory?"

Re: The Temple of Many Mysteries.
Aden looked at Drazgar with perplexed demeanor, "I didn't. You're full of surprises."

He then looked back to the oracle of life he was in the middle of conversation with. "He's Drow.  Not from around here."

Re: The Temple of Many Mysteries.
"You know how it works around here Aden. For most of us our spells are our lively hood and most of the acolytes don't have a lot to go around. Plus not all of us get exempted from the tithe. I've got two second circle and 3 first circle spells I can expend on your behalf. Since the festival is on and there are a lot more people in the city most guys are ustling spells to rake in some extra money. I can ask around, but don't expect everyone in the temple to line up and fill your stick. That said it is an interesting device. Can anyone use it or is a caster require like with a wand? Can it store more than just healing? for example can it store restoration or cure disease spells? Imagine the good something like that could do during an epidemic."

Re: The Temple of Many Mysteries.
Dustil rolled his eyes and let out a snort of both confusion and amusement at Drazgar assuming Aden was talking to him and interrupting the discussion going on. Dustil opened his mouth, but then remembered he had almost no money left after chipping in for team things....so he stayed silent, other than the snort, as he waited.

Re: The Temple of Many Mysteries.
Regarding the stick, Aden replied, "Yes, it's a pretty neat device. Anyone can use it, unlike a wand or scroll." Aden thought back to what the rep at Martin & Kern had said about them, whether or not is was just curing spells or other types of divine healing magics.  He shared what he knew happily.  What's the answer, as far as we know?

"We appreciate your help. And I get it, everyone's got to make a living, and now's a good time with the city filled to the brim. What do you think it would take to get others to pitch in? Keep in mind, if we win, I can use the accolades to bring attention to our temple and help drive more patrons our way."

Aden mentally considered some different options:

*They could promise to pay any spell donating oracles an increased fee for their spells, if they won.  The extra amount could be negotiated, starting at an extra 10% of usual cost.  It required the oracle to make the gamble that they would win to get paid, which was more likely with the donation of healing magics.

*They could just pay the normal price for spellcasting services.  But most of the party was strapped for cash. Aden wasn't sure Safia would want to go on a spending spree with Jace's money.

*They could offer to donate the healing stick to the oracles of life after the competition.  It was an expensive item, but as long as they continued to do well in the games, there'd be plenty more chances to make some hefty coin.  Adventurers got rich or died trying.

*They could continue to sweet talk and promise favors to any willing to donate their spells. Aden was a nice, and pretty well-liked guy.  He had certain charms with most women.  But he was busy, and money talks.

Re: The Temple of Many Mysteries.
OOC: As far as you know it only stores healing. You're not quite sure how it works exactly other than you can press it against someone to heal them and the longer you press it the more they are healed.

"It stores healing? can you channel positive energy into it?" He asks and he takes the stick and starts casting healing spells into it.

The oracle of life puts 52 points of healing into the heal stick.

Then he started to focus and aden, dustil and Drazgar could feel a faint burst of a gentle warmth.

He channeled positive energy to heal the living. adding another 18 points to the heal stick. for a total of 70 points.

Re: The Temple of Many Mysteries.
Dustil perked up when the casting and channeling of positive energies began. He eyed the caster and the stick, shifting his eyes between them. When it was done, he glanced at Aden with a half-smile on his face. He mouthed, "good job".

Turning to the priest, he gave a bow. "We thank you for your time and energy. I will be back to donate once I have money once again."

He stepped back and made his way out of the temple and towards Hewitt's Haven to see if his teammates are still there before heading to the Drunken Monkey.

Aden thanked the oracle, and considered going with his comrades to the Drunken Monkey.  It had to be getting late though.

OOC: Are you guys planning to call it a night with your characters?  If so, Aden might as well stay at the temple.  I don't want to miss out though.  Feeling the FOMO.
