Re: Main OOC

Is it possible to add locations or characters that might be pertinent but which aren't currently listed? Cause I have a few ideas for people/places in the city.

Not only possible, but expected and welcome.

I am pretty sure you can create topics yourself, but if you have trouble doing so, let me know and I'll set it up for you.

No, only moderators/STs can create threads. I'll send you write-ups of what I'm looking for.

Re: Main OOC

While not reclusive entirely, Nikolai is not very outward in the supernatural world. He frequents Free Council meetings or activities when possible, and has been known to be with his mentor, Legend, to improve not only his understanding of the Arcana, but in order to break his shell and become a true Hero.

Being as interested in the mundane political arena as he is in the supernatural one, young Gorschov is aware of Jack Abram's incident and his remarkable "recovery". He suspects Life magic was involved, having absolutly no interest in learning the Death arcana or have ever met a Geist.

Re: Main OOC

Sereno turned up about a year and a half ago, and apparently was a local from Byron's Row before being 'Taken.'  He's a very friendly sort of person, despite how shy he is at first introduction.  In fact, he tends to hate being alone, something about bad memories.

The mages tend to see him about downtown and were the first to get an offer for housecleaning and such, an offer made about six months ago that is open to the rest of the Concord.  Usually his 'prices' are either just making sure you leave some sort of token to let him know he's allowed in to clean or if it's just a one-time job, something such as clothes or a book.

He isn't someone for politics, but with his desire to be able to go all over the city when he wants, he is starting to want to learn.

Re: Main OOC

Forgot to give Nikolai access to the University District.  He should have it now (thus explaining why a bunch of new threads popped up for you).

We'll have to figure out the exact nature of his arrangement with the changelings on that one, but he should have regular access to the University since he is involved with it.

Re: Main OOC

It could just be explained that Niko goes to a different University than the Changelings, but the two are located close to one another.

Re: Main OOC

Nah, you can have U-District access.  We don't really need two universities in town.  It's no problem for Nikolai to have a conditional pass -- many individuals in the Concord have them for one reason or another.  I mostly just meant we'd wanna think about exactly how often it's expected he'll be around and how much of the district he expects to visit with any frequency.

Re: Main OOC

Since I'm over half-done with the artwork for the NPCs now, does anyone want me to do art for their respective PC?  If you do, just give me a few points on their look, attitude, and style (particularly clothing and hair) in addition to any particular elements you'd like depicted in the piece.

Re: Main OOC

I'll take one for Jack.

Jack is a native Californian, possessed of a slightly darker skin tone, being mostly of European lineage but with a bit of Hispanic from his father's side (his grandfather was a Texas Ranger and married a Mexican woman). His hair is jet black, short, and cleanly cropped and parted. His eyes are olive green, his nose short and sharp, his jawline very set. Though still quite young, he has started to get the telltale marks of a constantly furrowed brow. He typically wears a suit, though he's since outfitted it with a hidden holster for his Colt .45.

He's of moderate height, a bit thin from his time in the hospital (though regaining the pounds quickly due to his newfound candy habit), and not terribly athletic. He's not ugly by any means, but he's not winning any modeling gigs either.

Princess, as I've said, looks like the vestments of a ten-year old girl without the little girl inside of them. Her dress is pure white except for where it's torn, shoulder-length gloves outline where her hands ought to be, and stockings and dancing shoes move where feet ought to be. Her hair is long, styled and absolutely white, while her head is missing save for a featureless mask with a hole blown through the left eye area, through which shines a blue eye. The mask has the vague impression of a face, outlining where her nose, right eye and mouth would be, but not nearly distinct enough to be called facial features.

Re: Main OOC

NOTICE

In light of reports concerning the vagueness of player-created Goals, I am adjusting the rules a bit.  The system will remain roughly as it is, except that the Goals themselves will be outlined by me rather than putting the onus of determination upon you, the players.

Though I will be doing the bookkeeping, you will all still have input in your characters' progress.  If you believe that you should have a new Goal not already listed, let me know.  Likewise, if you believe you have completed a Goal but I have not yet marked it off, let me know.  Otherwise, I will be listing Goals as I believe you are pursuing them and marking them off as I believe you have completed them.

Hopefully this makes the system more interesting and less confusing for everyone.

Re: Main OOC

NOTICE the second

In the nWoD system, bonuses and penalties are applied before the actual roll, so please remember to notify the Storyteller when you intend to roll something.  If you do not, you may be missing out on a helpful bonus or risk losing successes to correct for a penalty.

I know this can sometimes slow things down a bit, but it just keeps things clean and simple.  Plus I am usually pretty good about reporting any modifiers soon after a roll request is made.

Thanks!

Do Nikolai and Sereno intend to see anyone or go anywhere else this evening or will they be continuing their investigation the following day?

Sorry for my long silences through most of the day. Had duty day on monday and COCOM excercise today. The rest of the week should be pretty smooth sailing.

Whatever happened to our Vampire companion?

Re: Main OOC

Thanks for posting!  :)

A very good question, by the way.  Alvyn has been MIA for about a week and a half now without letting me know.  He hasn't answered my PMs and he never finished any of his background stuff.

I gave him another PM this morning informing him that if I did not hear from him by tomorrow morning, I would be speaking to a replacement.  So far, I still have heard nothing.

Fortunately, if he must be replaced, it's a good time for it since his character was never incorporated into the plot.  Either way, I apologize for any upset in expectations this may have caused.

I'm actually in New York. I just stay up very late.

Also, I'm cool with whoever happens to be his replacement, so long as you think he/she is cool.

Re: Main OOC

By the way -- it's been exactly one week since the game officially began and we're at four hundred posts now!  I know that a majority reason for this is because we had a four-day weekend, but it really enabled us to kick off with a fantastic start and we've gotten a really good feel for your characters in a respectably short time frame.  Eires and I have had an absolute blast with you guys so far and I'm hoping that we've managed to make Queen's Bay a compelling setting for you (even though you haven't seen much of it).

Anyway, I just wanted to let you guys know that I really like where we are and I think you've shown yourselves to be really creative and adaptable players.  I know that one week might not be much to yell about, but I think it's been swell. :)  So to express our appreciation for being awesome, I'm giving everyone an extra 5xp.

Thanks everyone!

Re: Main OOC

Eires also reminds me to let you guys know that it is within the realm of possibilities to request running scenes outside the normal narrative.  Flashbacks or one-on-ones that don't fit into the open arena are perfectly reasonable, so if you need or want to run anything out of eye-shot of the rest of the group, let me know.
