Re: The Finale

We're going to go ahead and say that pretty much wraps the game. Congratulations! You managed to fight all the main monsters, defeat the big boss, and save the world! Your character epilogues are yours to write. We'll be adding a few NPC epilogues later, so if there are any specific ones you want to see, give a shout out.

Since it's all over, there are also no more secrets. If anyone has any lingering questions about who, or what, or when, or why, or how, go ahead and ask. We're pulling back the curtain so you can see all the shit in the wings and backstage.

Re: The Finale

From what I understand, Heimdallr's ideal time line was the one they originally planned out, and basically every post we did had little effects...

I'm also curious on what was the biggest damage and anything you think you'd be surprised about.

Re: The Finale

Well, the really basic rundown is as such:

Sweet Annie and the well-armed goblin gang would have essentially wiped out the freehold and undermined the hold Arturo has on Byron's Row and like areas. With the freehold down, and the vampires losing one of their grips, Lazarus and the Talon Tower would have had no problems fueling Zatholok, who would have essentially wiped out the werewolves and kept any sin-eaters from ever maintaining residence. Malcolm Douglas, having never become human, would have lost his lupine lady love, which would have made him an even more unhappy vampire. He would then have no reason to remain aloof of the vampire politics he had been ignoring, and would have helped Delilah unseat the Ramsey Prince. Delilah also would have been much more successful in her attempts on Sean and Willow. That would have been extra unfortunate, as Sean would have been one of the last things helping Lily hold on to her humanity.

With Sean gone, Lily would have pulled back even further, and would therefore have not helped deal with Morgana, who was the really old vampire in the sewers, and who was responsible for one of the cults that was going around. She would have unleashed the plague she stole from Silas into Crown Haven, wiping out a decent portion of the human population, and putting all of the vampires at extreme risk. Those who would be capable of getting out would have gotten out, and the rest of them would have been fucked.

With Lily no longer watching out for them the way she had been, the mages would have been on their own, meaning that some would leave, some would die, and some would hang around and get recruited by a certain arch mage later on. And, since she would have been so alone and so miserable when he did show up, Lily would have not hesitated to become Anat again, and, on Heimdallr's arrival, would have unleashed a plague that would have made Silas' look like a case of the sniffles. She then would have brought all of the surviving members of the Concord to heel, and from there, helped Heimdallr secure his throne. From there, they would have taken over the world.

And then she would have had his baby, which would have been really, really bad.

Luckily though, none of that happened!

Re: The Finale

The big question for me is "What's next" 2.5 years or so has formed something of a habbit, and in that time this is the only game that's lasted any real length of time.

Given the opportunity, I would certainly love to plug in for another game with you all.

I have another smaller game going on, but I'm not accepting any more players. However, I will let you guys know when we have another one happening.

Incidentally, what are your feelings on fantasy adventure games?

Re: The Finale

'Twas.

Exalted 3rd Edition drops sometime this year. I contributed to the Kickstarter forever ago, so I'll have it earlier than the general populace. Whenever I get it, I'm sure I'll have an idea or two in the noggin'.

Similarly, the new Dungeons & Dragons comes out very soon and the basic rules are going to be free. I was in the open beta in the beginning, but I honestly couldn't tell you how the final product will work. It is meant to be pretty mechanically simple, so it should be pretty easy to do online.

I have 13th Age, with which I believe some of you are already familiar. I've only read a chunk of it, so I don't know how it works in practice. I've heard good things, though.

I also have Pathfinder. It's a little more complicated, but I have a ton of material for it.

... honestly, I have quite a few of these things.

Re: The Finale

I'd rather do 13th Age or Exalted 3e, I think.  But an fantasy adventure would be a nice change of pace.

Pathfinder's a bit... fiddly.  But possible with a PbP, I think.

Re: The Finale

Pathfinder's neat, but personally I'd rather do 13th Age.

Full disclosure, I'm doing the Exalted 3rd Edition playtest, and I can say right now that it's not very PbP friendly.

I managed to be in several PbPs of Exalted 2e for three years and they mostly did fine.  (Granted, all before Infernals came out.)  Granted, they all died due to various reasons, but it was human failure.  (That said, the mechanics do suck.)

Re: The Finale

Games meant for tabletop rarely translate well to the digital ether. ;)

In any case, I don't imagine I'll be doing it any time soon, so please make sure I have some way to get a hold of you once it becomes a thing.

Please PM me your respective email addresses and let me know if you're interested in future games as well as the kind of games you tend to like and/or those you'd like to try.

You have several pieces of my contact info already.  As does your lawfully wedded wif.

As an aside, silly question, since the game's completely done...

How do you imagine the game's theme song to be like, guys?
