Character Creation

To have a standardized procedure for enlisting new players in the game, any proposed character should be generated as follow:

1 - Backstory/character concept

This is the most important part of the character generation, so it should go first. No other character trait is as important, since this will define everything else that will be selected. So, give me a concept - an idea of what your character is like - and perhaps a backstory - to explain why the character is like that.

Once this is done, there'll be likely be lot of redefining and fine-tuning the details of it all, but without this base to buil on, there can be no character at all.

Since a backstory and a character concept without context are empty, take the time to read the Kai Order and NPC threads - they should contain all the information you might need to get a good picture of what the Monastery was like when your characters were growing into it.

A couple detail I'll like to be pointed out in the character concepts are these:

- character age and affiliation; your character can either be part of the second batch (thus aged from 21 to 26) or of the third group (thus aged from 16 to 20). You'll need to pick one or the other, and explain what, exactly, is your character position in terms of this tense situation.

- favored candidate: you're going to be deciding which of these will replace Lone Wolf as leaded of the Order, so it'll be nice if your character came already allied with one of them - not only will that give you a deeper backstory, it'll give me plot hooks. You're free to pick "none", to indicate that your character is apolitical, but I'll at least want to discuss this before accepting that kind of character.

- favored missions: since your characters are elite, they'll have necessarily partecipated in more than one mission, and some of those will have had to be high-profile ones. Pick at least two from the following list, and if you don't know what skill/orders a kind of mission involves, feel free to ask; I'll be happy to answer, and who knows, it might give you ideas on what kind of character you want! ^^

Mission list:

patrol
escort
infiltration/espionage
sabotage
retrieval/destruction
field combat
military leadership
assassination
diplomacy
revolution
siege
naval combat
sentinel

2 - Stats

This is very easy, and also not really important until you have a good character concept to start with - though, of course, having already a physical idea might help.

As such, you have 13 points to distribute into the 3 main stats (END, WP, CS) as following:

1 point  = +1 max END
2 points = +1 max WP
3 points = +1 CS bonus roll

Once you've allocated the points, you add 24 to END and 12 to WP to have the actual values.

As for CS, things are slightly different. CS is rolled daily on a d10, and then added to 10 to obtain the CS value of the character for the day. By allocating points to "CS bonus roll", you increase the value of such roll by the value of the bonus; the maximum still can't pass 9, but by increasing this value, getting the roll to be a 9 is easier.

3 - Possessions

Now, these are not necessary until the first part has been completed, but it seems appropriate to place it here anyway.

As such, once generated, your character will need to have the following:

3 Magnakai Disciplines
1 Improvement into any of the 3 Magnakai Disciplines picked
1 backpack with 2 meals
3 backpack/special items/weapons/armors pieces (dependant on Discipline Selection)
1 weapon of player's choice
14 + 1d10 Gold Crowns
1 Special Item

Most of that is self explanatory, excpet for the Special Item. Now, since your character will be experienced Magnakai, it seems reasonable to me that they would have picked up some nice trinket during their adventures; here, I'm letting you tell me what.

I don't want mechanical descriptions (like, +7 CS spear or +2 END helmet and other such things). What I want is a description of what the item looks like and what it can do; then, I will decide what kind of mechanical properties - if any - I'll want to assign it. Think of it as a way to better customize your character, making him/her more unique in respect to the rest of the team! :D

Lastly, I should point out something in term of dress code. I mention at some point that the standard get-up of a Kai novice is green cloak and white tunic. That's true.

However, Lone Wolf wasn't really one to care about such things, so he relaxed the standards; a Kai can wear whatever they want, so long as they're wearing a cloak in some shade of green and have some white on their remaining clothes - most Kai opt for white buttons or laces, but any one of you is free to arrange that however you prefer.

Well, that was all I think... feel free to request to join whenever! ^^
