Re: OOC: seventh sense

Well the botch was kind of a spookily-well-timed accident that I decided to factor into the post :)
Out of all my posts, this is one where a bad roll fits quite nicely.

Hoping this earns me a critical zero on my next roll ;)

..so that you can become a die yourself? :)
Also, on Hornet's question: the -1 CS is because the ring has been tainted by darkness through years of Ceners use, Hornet - how you want that to factor in your character's feelings is up to you. I did liked the way you went about it though, if that matters any. ^_^

Hehe yeah, yay for good roleplaying ;). You guys should see how Swifty roleplays her character over on my HEx game - lots of fun there and without any stabbing or anything - just bits of junk, flammable materials, and threats with a hammer ;).

Awww, stop it, you'll make me blush...  hehe.

Mollie isn't that hard to play actually.  Just the product of a weird mind :)
I think all my characters are like that really.

Re: OOC: seventh sense

Hehe well as I only know of two of them, I can't really say as I don't have a very large sample size...but I suppose both the ones I know could be classified as "weird" (well, everyone is weird, really...), what with one being all stabby-stabby and the other being all "zomg what is this weird thing and btw I built my own airship lol let's go fly in it I promise it probably won't crash oh be careful of that fuel tank you're sitting on it's probably explosive would you like some coffee?"...the latter of whom is currently peering into a hole which may or may not contain some kind of nasty creature waiting to leap out at her or something - currently awaiting her response to said peering while the two other members of the group stand back and wait to see if she gets her eyes gouged out or something, I suppose ;).

Re: OOC: seventh sense

Well I definitely wouldn't call myself an RP expert or anything.
I just have a knack for coming up with weird characters by using bits of my own weird personality and over-exaggerating them in the form of character flaws.

Swift is actually completely different here to how I originally designed her.  The original Swift would have been nowhere near as interesting (in fact perhaps veering dangerously close to "Mary-Sue" territory!)
Working out character details with Shadow at the start created the much darker version of Swift that set out on this journey with you :)  And I made it so that her character evolution was affected by the other characters she encountered along the way, so everyone else in the game also played a part :)

Mollie is much less complex.  She just has a potentially suicidal level of curiosity that seems to drive her to go up to very dangerous things and poke them to see what happens :)

Re: OOC: seventh sense

Lol well, I'm certainly interested to see how she reacts to this latest development, seeing how right now you're the only one who's had a look into the burrow and knows what's in there ;).

I certainly agree that Mollie seems less complicated than Swifty...but who knows what might happen in the future - I mean, I tend to find my characters develop more as I play them and may end up somewhat different to how I'd initially envisoned them (happened with the character I played in Wuffy's DnD game a few years back - that was a fun game :D). Mollie is more fun while Swifty is better at Sneaky Bastard Tactics :D.

Re: OOC: seventh sense

Ah ok, I can take a hint, hehe ;)  Put up a post now.

Sorry for the delay.  Been trying to fix a laptop for a friend all day, which isn't easy with my own PC falling apart on me.  I have to keep going over to my dad's place or to the local library to download and install bootable repair tools onto a USB stick.  Bit of a headache!

Sleepy time right now though :)

Lol weeellll it had been since like, Thursday, and I wanted to see what happens next because this is fun :D. Anyway, I've replied back to you now and similarly should really head off for bed. And probably stop talking about a completely different game in this one's OOC thread, lol.

Re: OOC: seventh sense

Well I've been tinkering with this thing since Wednesday, which shows you how much I've been slowed down :(  If my PC was working, I could have fixed it days ago!

Anyways, posting now :)

(*wanders back on topic*)

Good luck Hornet!
Sounds like Sabre's sword is as cranky as Sun Snake's!  But at least Sabre's doesn't mind someone else using it! ;)

Re: OOC: seventh sense

Do we get a prize for rolling three 1's? o.O That's right, I botched my roll, too.

By the way, High Priest has entered the temple from the opposite direction than Hornet and Sabre, right?
Because that means that if he's not stopped,  he'll probably get to the sacrificial hall without encountering Sabre and Hornet (assuming that place is in the center of the temple).

So...run, guys, run!

Re: OOC: seventh sense

Either that or you just released the Hybrid which will attack you two while the High Priest just runs right past you both, and then the Hybrid will proceed to get in Swift's way and stop her chasing him down.  Which she will NOT be pleased about...

Better not tell her who released it!  Just a little tip for you. ;)

Re: OOC: seventh sense

How about this: Hornet uses the ring's acid-cage-creating powers to trap the High Priest. This means he gets attacked by the Hybrid - and at that moment Swift enters and saves Hornet. And then we can talk about how the mistake of letting the High Priest escape in the first place was promptly corrected by coming in and saving us from the Hybrid ;)

Re: OOC: seventh sense

Assuming he doesn't have a way of breaking free of the cage?
Right now Swift's focus is entirely on catching the High Priest, she'll probably completely ignore the Hybrid unless it actually attacks her.

I'm guessing the High Priest will turn off the glyphs anyway so he can run through that room without having to stop and carefully navigate his way across them, thus giving Swift a shot at him from the entrance... :)

Still, maybe he knows a way to bypass that room completely.  I don't really know the internal layout of the temple.

You're right he'd probably just deactivate the magic defences...anyway, I think you all will be coming from the opposite side of the temple so you deal with the High Priest and we will have to deal with the Hybrid. :)

I'll need a DC 8 Hunting check from you to catch up with the High Priest withouth triggering any trap, Swift Fox.

And also, you're wrong, Water Hornet - remember, before entering the Temple, you were there with Frost, Sun Fox and Silver Raven, so the entrance closer to their position is actually the very same one you entered from. ^_^

Re: OOC: seventh sense

Isn't it a pattern? He can move across it and let it catch us.

If the door destruction didn't destroy the magic, then I presume Pathsmanship plus Divination should allow us to know the danger and allow us to flick  the mechanism.

Edit: Do you need a roll from me, or is Divination letting me spot the trap? If so, can Sun Snake yell a warning?

Re: OOC: seventh sense

The Hunting 8 DC check is to avoid triggering the trap Sun Fox, Silver Raven and Frost Ferret are still under - the one that makes you target for the active traps. The passive traps - like the glyphs - you can bypassh with Divination and/or Pathsmanship, depending on what kind of traps they are (the glyphs are a Pathsmanship type, for example), but the active traps would come after you with intention (like the wraiths did), and they can only be avoided by not stepping on the wrong pieces of the floor (or having the High Priest's "blessing"), which are spread out enough that only agility would allow to properly avoid activating them.

And while normally the High Priest would deactivate the glyphs, the mechanism for doing that is the same which opens the door - seeing as he's in a hurry, he can run across the glyphs because he knows the pattern, and he'll find the door already cut open, he won't need (nor, because of the door's damage, would he be able to) to deactivate them at all.

But your characters can't know that! ^_^

Re: OOC: seventh sense

Right! Yes, now I recall (the Hight Priest and Hurlon went after the 'trespassers '). My bad, sorry.
Well, this should be really fun. Deadly, but fun :)

By the way, I am really happy Hurlon has been dealt with. That guy's skills really scared me. (I know the High Priest is probably even more dangerous, but that's what one has to expect and be prepared for.)

EDIT:
So, if we (Sabre & Hornet) just sat in front of the closed door, the High Priest would come to us all by himself, maybe even opened the door and deactivated the passive traps (if we stayed hidden, for instance)...?

Great, instead we burned some of our WP, got trapped, burned some more WP, lost some END and are probably going to burn even more WP and END. And then still have to fight the High Priest. ^_^

Anyway, looking forward to the happy family reunion (including the black sheep, I mean: hyena-porcupine-something sister)

Hurlon would have been more lethal if he could get a one-on-one duel with anybody; fighting against three kraans at once was just not what I'd built him for, as it happens. So really, you should thank the kraans if you won't have to face him. :)

Still confused, do you need me to roll a hunting roll, then? You only addressed Swift Fox but it sounds like both?

You didn't said you were following. If you are, then yes, you'll need to roll as well.

Or you could let her trigger the trap and then have an easier time avoiding it (DC 6 only), which is what Sabre and Hornet did, if you want to.

Unless you want to be the one to trigger the trap, so that Swift has the easier time of it?

Your choice, really! :)

Rolled a 7.  Had a feeling I'd never make that without my Huntmastery bonus :(

Would using Pathsmanship to navigate the glyphs need WP?

In message 296:
Sun Snake:
...righted himself as quickly as possible and raced forwards to catch up with the priest.

Rolled a 6, Sun Snake would not let Swift Fox fall foul of a trap to let himself get forwards.

If one of us gets trapped leading to the other carrying onwards, I'll leave you to decide which is which. I'm happy for Swift Fox to keep going forwards.
